hey dumbasses, this draft is a perfect example of the reason why we aren't there, yet:

We had a solid first round but no other picks after that. All the top programs filled up all three rounds. We won't be seeing any BCS bowls until we can do the same. This stuff doesn't happen magically.

^it means we're not there yet, but if this is the start, I like how the future looks. I think we'll be fine if we can get through this next season with a winning record, because 2 years from now is when the D and O could possibly click again.

if we were there yet we would not be having a conversation about our ability to bring in recruits.

if our defense was so good, they would have forced more turnovers

Our defense forced a bunch of turnovers if I remember correctly River's senior year and they still sucked....thats a stupid assertion. 3-out is as good as a turnover sometimes....and we forced way more this year than we did in 04.

and who the fuck are you, you are doing to Chuck what you are saying people shouldnt have done to Herb. When Chuck walks out on us because of assholes like you in two years and we are left on our knees looking for a football coach as well then we can all thank you.

herb got 10 years, which is a lot for basketball in a good basketball area. Chuck has 5 Years, which is short for football in a crappy football area.

Defense didnt do that bad those games just turnovers gave the other teams the ball with amazing field position

i think its a hell of a start having the only ACC player to be the overall first pick of the draft. Think about what that does for recruitment basically having our entire d-line be picked in the first round.

defense in college does win championships. it just needs something on the other side of the ball. USC had no defense, and it showed in the championship game. Texas had enough defense to stop that powerhouse offense on 2 consecutive drives in order to be in a position to win the game.

Why we lost: QBs and DBs. No other reason. Maybe some dumb offensive play calling and stupid penalties.

that could be the funniest thing I have ever heard... and... it's a poem... and... i agree with all of your points... nothing like a valour suit (with one leg up, and one leg down... after all, i havent seen such things since 1995)... ellipsis

anyway, back to our football situation...

we did have 5 running backs that were 4 or 5 star backs. so again, that further proves my point that our coaching staff is "doo doo pie" ~ we have great running backs, a great defense, and yes... a struggling QB... you should be able to get over the QB situation with such other great players in different positions.

STOP FUCKING ARUGING WITH ME... BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL IN DENIAL... AND YOU KNOW HOW "DOO DOO" OUR COACHING STAFF IS

THE TALENT AND THE WINS DO NOT ADD UP... IT IS FUCKING OBVIOUSLY AND UNDENIABLE... THATS MY MOTHERFUCKIN WORD BITCHES... ELLIPSIS (AGAIN)

[Edited on May 3, 2006 at 1:35 AM. Reason : spelled valour wrong lol]

well no matter how good of a running back is, one can only do so much with such a crappy O-line that seems to always be hit hard with injuries. same for a QB. your offense is only as good as how well your O-line can open up holes for the RB to go and how long they keep back the defenders before they get to the QB. O-line has not been our strength as of lately.

i'm not trying to argue with you whether our coaches suck or not. i'm just throwing out logical reasons why our RB's and QB's haven't been as productive as their *'s out of HS would lead you to believe they should be.

^ The coaching isn't the greatest, you are right. However, he is a good recruiter, and has a good eye for talent that a lot of the people who assign stars don't see. He is also a very good defensive coach. Our problems are:
1. Discipline
2. O-Line
3. Quarterback

The first one is directly placed on Chuck's shoulders, and indirectly for the other 2, but they aren't really his fault (esp Oline). we could get those fixed, we would be a much much better team.

Even if you don't like him, what is your solution? Get rid of him?

I hope that this experience with Herb has taught our fans something about running a coach off.

I expected nothing less from a thread born from womanly whining.

Chuck has put together the best offense in the ACC and one of the best in the country. He's put together the best defense in the country. There's no reason to believe that he won't put together both at the same time.

well i'm a Chuck supporter. i know he's not a great coach, but he loves this school and has brought a lot of excitement to the NCSU football program. we are not FSU, so let's not go making stupid BCS Bowl or Chuck's out of here requests. i want to see the coaching improve no doubt, but i'm not saying fire Chuck. i've never been a blind supporter of either Chuck or Herb. i see the bad things, but i also see the good things. i saw that we had a problem with penalties at the beginning of the year. i think we averaged what 12 penalties a game. some mid-season changes like making the players run a lap right after they committed a penalty instead of making them do all of them at the end of practice probably helped instill in the players to not commit so many penalties. as a result we averaged around 5-6 penalties per game in the second half of the season. Chuck's always seemed like he'd be a nice guy IRL, but a hard nosed demanding coach. when i went into Amedeo's and saw him, he knew right away that i was probably a student (i didn't have any State gear on just to let you know) and he said "how ya doin?" he knows that the students here have a great passion for the team and without them at C-F the atmosphere would not be nearly what it is. he seems to really appreciate the students here and what they bring. remember the numerous amount of times that he's thrown his shades into the student section or pointed over to us noting that we had a part in a big win.

you must be off your fuckin rocker, if you think we EVER had one of the best offenses in the country

hell, the same thing goes for the defense. Every since Ive been to this school, we've done nothing but underachieve. with the exception of 1 year.

^^ You must not have been here "Every since" we had the best QB in the country and the best freshman RB in the country. We were pretty dominant that year, going 9-0, but then losing our last 3 games (in what would be the first few of many TA induced furystorms from myself). Then finally dominating ND in our bowl game.

^^^ well it's fine to try and get to that level, like we have been trying to, but to call for his head just b/c he's not getting those kind of results is not a good idea. we're NC State. what have we ever done in the College Football realm to warrant firing a coach that's the best in terms of bowl appearances, bowl winning percentage, overall wins in x amount of years, recruiting, excitement, season ticket sales, pushing for badly needed stadium improvements, etc. it's ok to let him know that we want better results, but let's not go crazy and putting a burner under his seat.

Or rivers' senior year on offense

^^ 1 year is all it takes, anyway. the probability of an upstart program keeping a solid team together for more than 1 year is prohibitively low

We were ranked as the #6 NFL talent producing team this year...and that includes our lower round picks. If you think this is anything other than great, you don't understand college football. Or even College athletics.

As to your point about retaining players, all good teams lose players early...especially very talented players.

I guess it's "NOT GOOD" that Miami is a perennial leader in producing top NFL talent also. Or that Carolina basketball lost lots of underclassmen to the draft last year.

And about our record...football is not the kind of sport where you can simply assume that because you have 3-4 very talented players that the team should be good. There are many variables in college football, and it only takes a few weak spots in order to have a 6-5 year. Add to the fact that we had an awful beginning to the season, we adjusted, and finished the season strong...and I don't see how you can call the coaching staff awful.

Having 3 first round draft picks is good for so many reasons.

NC State was second to last in the nation in 3rd down conversion percentage. That shows how shitty our offense was.

What the hell are you talking about? A record is a record, and we had alot more than 3-4 talented players. You don't know what you're talking about.

try tellin that to Ohio State, that year they had to win most of their games kicking field goals. what was it, 03 or 04. Good teams find ways to win, when they have weak spots and gaps. EVERY TEAM HAS WEAK SPOTS.
