PLEASE GOD NO!!!!I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING FISHY IS GOING ON BEHIND THE SCENES AND IT INVOLVES UNC....
4/27/2006 9:01:27 AM
goddam it, you always think theres some vast unc conspiracy...like they have to worry[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 9:06 AM. Reason : .]

The tarheels would never go for Phil Ford coming to State. After Dean stepped down he was one of the main reason they kept getting strong recruiting classes. In fact they politiced hard to keep Ford on staff after Doh' stepped down and tried to corner Roy into putting him somewhere on the staff but Roy wasn't having it. I don't want to see him here either though, I think this is nothing but a smoke screen to set fans up to anticipate the hiring of a coach not many people have heard of.
4/27/2006 9:06:25 AM
you can't be serious....i mean do we want to beat carolina or "lose" everytime.
4/27/2006 9:24:16 AM
To be realistic a move like getting a rival as a coach has been done before. Vic Bubbas was an Everett Case protege and State grad and eventually was hired at Duke's head coach and he began raising Duke into one of the better programs out there today.Phil Ford wouldn't be that guy though for a move like this, if any one coach had to be hired from our rival schools it would be Johnny Dawkins. However, that is a pipe dream cause I am sure he is waiting for Coach K to step down so he can take over. Many schools have pursued him and he has turned them down. I still think Ford is nothing but a blown-up smoke screen.
4/27/2006 9:29:38 AM
rick patino coached at kentucky before Louisville
4/27/2006 9:37:29 AM
^ good point I didn't think about that, Pitino's situation was a little different though. After he left Kentucky his assistant takes over he goes on to the NBA and stinks it up. Once he came back to the NCAA he was the hottest coach out there on the market, so I am sure Louisville fans were more than willing to turn there back on the fact he coached at the rival school since he was national championship level coach.Given the right situation, it we would not care if a certain coach was a UNC or Duke grad as long as he was right for the situation. Phil Ford doesn't fall into that category.
4/27/2006 9:42:08 AM
I've heard everythihng about Vic Bubas and how Duke didn't mind having a State alum coaching them. I can't believe I would even consider having an UNC person come in, but I might be open to it - IF it was the right person. That being said ...

4/27/2006 11:16:24 AM
I will be pissed if we hire a damn UNC grad. I am in the Wolfpack Club and I'd consider not donating anymore if we hire someone like Phil Ford!
4/27/2006 11:19:03 AM
phil ford is a joke right? please tell me that this is a joke.
4/27/2006 11:19:58 AM
It's all over the damn radio... I've heard it on like 3 stations this morning.
4/27/2006 11:22:06 AM
^that we are considering hiring him?
4/27/2006 11:23:30 AM
yeah
4/27/2006 11:24:05 AM
Not only that but he's never been a head coach ffs.
4/27/2006 11:25:25 AM
dear god, this has gotten ugly if we are considering hiring one of the best players in UNC history to coach at NC Statealso, if we are going to get a no-name coach so to speak why don't we go with one that has a GAME at least of head coaching experienceunbelieveable
4/27/2006 11:25:44 AM
oh shitwhat if they hire himand then at the first carolina gamehe just rips off his shirt and has a jersey onand starts dunkin on fools
4/27/2006 1:14:33 PM
i don't think that would be a problem since he couldn't dunk when he was a player
4/27/2006 1:55:00 PM

if you really wanna branch out and ford isn't your guy, i'd say either dave hanners or pat sullivan would be interesting choices. they were both assistants under dean, and now they both work for larry brownsullivan also played in 3 final fours and coached in 3, so that would be a good selling point to recruits[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 3:07 PM. 4/27/2006 3:04:48 PM
could you see a long-term michigan grad/assistant coach taking the job as head ohio state football coach? HELL NO. this is the same fucking situation
4/27/2006 3:10:54 PM
he could bring in some all americans and provide a competitive and fun style of bball and get us some damn respect.
4/27/2006 3:17:24 PM
yall can unwad your panties now
4/27/2006 4:03:04 PM
Thank god. I hope this was smoke & mirrors and we are working on something genius behind the scenes. Then again, he could be lying to the media & still working with Fowler still....This whole thing seems to be snowballing into a very bad situation and I hope there is something positive about to happen soon.
4/27/2006 4:10:17 PM
We should make Rick Barnes another offer.
4/27/2006 5:28:32 PM
PHIL FORD?I'LL DRINK TO THAT
4/27/2006 5:29:12 PM
thank God
4/27/2006 5:39:53 PM
this had to of been a sick joke on the part of the N&O
4/27/2006 5:42:37 PM
lets throw all our money at Tubby Smith
4/27/2006 6:10:10 PM
So far ford is the only person to really say tht he would like to coach our team, haith is rumored to have said its his dream job. I think after we have lring lost on the big guys fowler should bring all canidates into the same room and figure out who wants to win and can win the most. Even if that is Ford, you know he would want to beat UNC for snubbing him. My number one choice is s.miller
4/27/2006 6:13:47 PM
pti just sai ford is #1 candidate
4/27/2006 6:19:43 PM

4/27/2006 6:23:06 PM
right they said thy dont thinl it will happen but they did say he ws the leader
4/27/2006 6:23:44 PM
you are a fucking idiot
4/27/2006 6:27:32 PM
just saying what was said on the show, I think its interesting, hope it doesn't happen
4/27/2006 6:30:23 PM
Phil Ford was NEVER a candidate. Just because someone speaks to another that is close to the search does not make them a candidate. Alot of times during these searches, people are contacted about thier opinions or suggestions to the direction they need to go for the search or about a candidate.
4/27/2006 6:32:49 PM
i definitly think that PTI said that cause ford is a unc al and espn would love it if he were hired. I looks like he is begging for the job.
4/27/2006 6:35:48 PM
learn englishand tony said no way, not at state
4/27/2006 7:39:53 PM
I don't know what all the fuss is about. Wouldn't you want someone who has lots of experience winning basketball games at NC state?
