Youre probably not going to find a place like that right on the beach withthe kind of scene youre looking for.

You might find something like that in Manteo at a cheap motel, but no where else on the OBX.

Wimlington or the surrounding area is prolly your best shot

Carolina Beach still has a few cheap places left. If you are looking for nightlife its not all that. If you are looking to get shitfuck drunk in a random beach bar its the spot.

^^there are only a couple motels in manteo & the rest are expensive bed & breakfasts...the only motel that would be in your price range in manteo is duke of dare motel in manteo

days inn oceanfront in nags head is around 90 this time of year, as well as quality inn john yancey in kill devil hills

try both of those on expedia, travelocity, etc.

Atlantic Beach has gone to shit. Most of the putt putt places have been bulldozed to make room for more condos. Sheraton is being torn down for condos. Basically the only things that will be on the beach soon are condos, wings, and a few nightclubs. I honestly wish people would stop moving here.

I used to live in Salter Path (between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle). It's definitely changed a lot in ten years. I miss all the small stores and restaurants, but it's still not a bad place to go for vacation.

^^ hopefully the bubble will burst soon ... until then look for the same to happen on all of NC's nice beaches. Those that are lucky enough to be somewhat un-commercialized are still seeing rising property value because it's big money for builders and property owners to build property... especially large value homes which often provide rental income.

My family used to own Salter Path WAAAAY back in the day. (last name Salter kinda gives it away) A lot of my family still live there. All that used to be there was a dirt road. And the condos just aren't on the beach. Even Morehead City is being swamped by condos and now Havelock is getting them too.

I stayed at ummm the Baymont Inn & Suites in Wilmington. Booked it on Expedia and was like $65/night for beginning of August last year. No deposit, they jsut asked for my credit card to make a copy incase we incurred any charges. Very clean, you get what you pay for. We got a non-smoking room, my (now ex) boyfriend smoked in it anyways and no one cared, and there was pretty much 2 empty cases of Yuengling all over that room, but we left a decent tip for the maid.

Verrrrrry good breakfast - all you can eat, and pretty decent stuff like waffles (make your own in the wee machine) and muffins and stuff all the time. They have a pool and it's about 15ish min away from Wrightsville Beach and like 2 seconds down the raod from UNCW campus. If you're willing to drive a bit, it's worth the money. Breakfast = one less meal a day to pay for. And if you split the room between 1 person, that's like $35/night.

WHAAAAAAT! My family has stayed there for years! In fact, when I went to the beach for the First Time in my WHOLE LIFE when I was 10 (we lived in Arizona) we went to AB and stayed there!! And Molly's Beach Bar there had the best beer battered Onion Rings. NOOOOOO!

Topsail is really a nice place to go and just chill. There aren't a lot of old people there, a few young families and then people in their twenties. Fishing off the pier is pretty fun, you can catch a lot. Its decently-close to Wilmington if you want to do some shopping or anything. Grocery store easy accessable, a lot of places to eat, etc. The public accesses aren't "pay by the hour" like Wrightsville. It can get a bit crowded on the weekend, just a lack of parking.

Wrightsville has always been my favorite though, but its damn expensive. The houses are gorgeous though!

My family and I are heading to Carolina Beach the end of June, beginning of July. We'll see how it goes.

why arent there any hotels being built like in sc and va? wouldnt high property values make those more common or is there a law prohibiting resort hotels from being built?

dare days? I haven't been to that since I was 15, rode my bike all over manteo and northern RI for the day because the waterfront was sooo boring that year.

I think you can stay at the Waterway lodge at Wrightville beach for around 150 a night- depends on the season
