i agreebut for whatever reason, we don't seem to be considering him. i think the acc must have stepped in.therefore, bring in lavin.

At least if thinks started going under with Lavin we could make signs like:"I dream about your wife sucking as much as you blow!"
4/21/2006 1:16:18 PM
A link about Lavin found at SFN:http://u.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,200%257E23148%257E1231259,00.html

^ interesting read. It make's the potential hiring of Lavin seem shaky but I would hope that has learned from his mistakes and that he makes sure he hires an expeirence coaching staff around him if he was ever giving another coaching job.
4/21/2006 1:44:14 PM
SFN seems to have the most good things to say about Whitt, although his only knock is that he's unproven. I dont give a fuck at this point. I dont want Lavin, I dont want Kruger, and I dont want Beilein. ANYONE else on our list would be better, including Whitt, Marshall, Haith, PJ, whoever. I mean fuck, just hire someone already.

Baron Davis is also a malcontent, so you have to take anything he says with a grain of salt.Obviously, when a storied program has the kind of year that UCLA did in Lavin's last season there are gonna be some problems and heated words exchanged...

I know that they mentioned in "The Big Finish" of PTI that Lavin had been offered the job. They might have been using The Sporting News as their source, but they didn't say.
4/22/2006 12:25:44 AM
"If we're going to offer a job to a douchebag, talking head on ESPN, why wasn't it Rick Majerus?"- my roommate
4/22/2006 12:44:57 AM
^ Because Majerus would have health problems like he did when he took the job at USC for about, hmm, a month, before giving it up again?
4/22/2006 1:04:27 AM
how hard is it for the fat fuck to walk briskly for 30 minutes a dayim sure any of his assistants or players would be glad to make him keep that up[Edited on April 22, 2006 at 1:08 AM. Reason : sdfsdf]

Lavin has always given State props on ESPN. I like him.

from the TSN article comments:
4/22/2006 3:23:59 PM
I wonder who will be the first player to pork his wife.
4/22/2006 6:02:46 PM
it'd be JC if he was still playing
4/22/2006 6:05:24 PM
8-2 when the score is tied with five minutes left to play and 10-2 in overtime games … his teams win in crunch timethats something Herb will NEVER be able to say
4/22/2006 6:06:20 PM
Actually, Herb had a pretty good overtime record this year...
4/22/2006 6:07:55 PM
the crunch time line, wont ever be said bout Herbies crews
4/22/2006 6:09:56 PM
I think it just was. Stop being a dick.
4/22/2006 6:36:32 PM
If Lavin says no we are gonna have to turn to a low C-Grade coach like Marshall so Im hoping Lavin comes.
4/22/2006 6:40:35 PM
^^^^...^^^Haith combines the best of each D.W. and Lavin, if not quite the recruiting phenom that Lavin would be.He blows D.W. outtof the water IMO.Does anyone know anything new on the Haith thing? I really like the guy and think that he could recruit some big athletic types to compete with the evils of UNC & Duke. He also has RECENT ACC EXPERIENCE whereas D.W. and Lavin do not.[Edited on April 22, 2006 at 6:51 PM. Reason : s[p]
4/22/2006 6:50:20 PM
Haith isn't an option, apparently. Lee doesn't want to mess with other ACC Coaches.
4/22/2006 6:51:50 PM
Thanks. Well, I hope we get lavin then....He's risky, but we are definitely getting plenty of ESPN airtime if he comes here from his buddies back at the network: which means good recruiting hopefully.I wonder who he will get for assistants?
4/22/2006 7:06:37 PM
they talk like whitt and he'll get a big pay raise to be the number 1 AHC[Edited on April 22, 2006 at 7:08 PM. Reason : d]
4/22/2006 7:08:36 PM
Jay Bilas for assistant coach
4/22/2006 7:08:53 PM
lloll, he would purposely lose games to duke
4/23/2006 1:49:24 AM
LOOKS LIKE WE GOT PLAYED, SUCKAS

4/23/2006 11:56:49 AM
So they are all over Rohrssen's dick in that article, but don't mention what Sandle has done.I am sure Lavin will land the best possible assistants if he comes here. The guy gained so much national popularity working for ESPN the past few years that the spin around him returning to coaching will be ridiculous. He does have the Calipari hair though, & I dont know what to think about it yet....
4/23/2006 4:20:47 PM
The man coached seven years at UCLA. Here is a short list of what he accomplished there:- 7 McDonalds AA's recruited.- Twice had the #1 recruiting class in America- 5 sweet sixteens- 1 Pac-10 title- Victories over a #1 ranked team four seasons in a rowThis dude can recruit the best, he can beat the best, and is the best coach to give State a chance at being the best.BRING HIM NOW!!
4/23/2006 4:37:54 PM
It's interesting that the article talkes about the possiblilty of Sandle leaving, when earlier today SFN approached the subject of at least talking to Jamie Dixon himself. http://pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/college/s_446537.html
4/23/2006 4:52:45 PM
^^Which unfortunately begs the question....Why couldn't he make a Final Four and why did he have one of their worst seasons every his last year there???
4/23/2006 5:22:11 PM
Possible reasons:Because he was young and filled his assistant staff with friends rather than complimentary coaches.Because his team had major chemistry issues despite the talentHe's not perfect, but he's definitely got more to offer than a lot of the other candidates I feel.
4/23/2006 5:25:30 PM
here is how i see it...steve lavin is a big name. anyone who watches college basketball has seen and heard him on tv. he had some great teams at ucla and some pro talent. all of his players seemed to like him. considering we struck out with our other candidates...i would be ELATED to have him here at state. he's a competitor and a great recruiter...i think this could be huge for us.[Edited on April 23, 2006 at 5:30 PM. Reason : i approve for lavin]
4/23/2006 5:30:14 PM
^Why didn't you say "He's a great coach"?
4/23/2006 5:31:24 PM
i don't think he's a rick barnes, coach k, roy williams, etc...but i think he is the best current coaching candidate...great by default i guess
4/23/2006 5:37:26 PM
The way I see it...He's gonna interject energy into the program and he's gonna land some big recruiting classes. Now maybe he learned a lot from UCLA and got his growing pains out of the way, or maybe he didn't and he's still not a good basketball coach. If the latter is the case, we can use him to raise our national exposure and put us back in the mix in college basketball. Then when his time here has run its course, maybe we'll have better luck landing a more complete coach.Either way we all know this guy has the potential to win and win big. He's not a "safe" option and in my opinion thats a good thing. If we wanted a "safe" option with limited upside then we should not have run off Herb in the first place...And when names like Derek Whittenburg are floating around, we better be happy with anything we can get. The last thing I want is someone that will quickly destroy everything that Herb helped us build.
4/23/2006 5:38:35 PM
^ Cant say it any better than that. Lavin was young. He did some good, some bad. Let's hope he's learned from it, is a bit wiser, and actually learned even more from analyzing every program in America as a commentator for the past few years.
