Lets pick 10 fans and first to make a half court shot gets to be coach its only fair
4/11/2006 10:00:22 PM
I'd be all for gillispie considering his success and turnaround at TAMU.I just don't want our fan base to split like it did with herb and I think it would be much more likely if we bring in anyone with a low scoring offense.
4/11/2006 10:00:58 PM
Lets just go hire some highschool coach. hell, it's better than nothing
4/11/2006 10:01:39 PM
^^I hear you, but slowness wasn't the major problem with the princeton in the fans eyes, I don't think. It was just another thing to complain about. Rick Barnes runs a slow offense, but people weren't going to complain about him.[Edited on April 11, 2006 at 10:06 PM. Reason : d]

If its all about offense then let's hire Billy Tubbs!!!Hell Ill bet 90% of posters on here don't have a clue who Billy Tubbs is.

haha. brilliant
4/11/2006 10:10:19 PM
Wasn't his UTEP team top 10 in the nation in scoring one year?Seems like I remember hearing that somewhere
4/11/2006 10:10:59 PM
4/11/2006 10:11:13 PM
i agree, billy tubbs would be a great choice. maybe he can bring back stacey king and get us to the national title game...
4/11/2006 10:13:55 PM
Haha I was joking about Billy Tubbs. But you know what now that I think about it, he is WAYYYY better than who we are looking at. He had some good teams at Oklahoma and TCU. I think he is at Lamar now.But he has like 600 career wins. Might be a little old, good short term replacement.
4/11/2006 10:17:23 PM
get Lon Krueger. where's he at now?he was good at Florida and Illinois, sucked in the NBA tho.[Edited on April 11, 2006 at 10:19 PM. Reason : .]

Billy Tubbs, king of the "mad comb over".Since we're stuck in "I Love the 80's", I cast my vote for Eddie Sutton. Think about it, as a recruiter he knows how to get the cash into the players hands (reference UK and the "FedEx incident) and, when the team wins, drinks are on him!!!
4/11/2006 10:18:53 PM
The dude from Marquette.
4/11/2006 10:19:02 PM
I don't know, but whatever we do, god I hope it is quick and isn't like the rest of the bull that has gone on lately.
4/11/2006 10:20:18 PM
^^ Tom Crean....what about Quinn Synder...why did he get fired or quit?[Edited on April 11, 2006 at 10:20 PM. Reason : ]
4/11/2006 10:20:41 PM
Well I did some searching. Tubbs is AD and head coach at Lamar, which is his alma mater.I dunno if he would leave there. But I personally would approve of him.http://dept.lamar.edu/athletics/MBB/Tubbs_Coach.htm
4/11/2006 10:20:53 PM
Quick? Like Will Quick?I don't think he'd be a very good coach.LON KRUEGER FTW![Edited on April 11, 2006 at 10:21 PM. Reason : .]
Hell no to Quinn SnyderTom Crean gets paid $texas
4/11/2006 10:21:14 PM
he was forced out because he sucks
4/11/2006 10:21:19 PM
4/11/2006 10:23:10 PM
hell yeah, I've got an idea. Is Quick's sister available? We can hire her and she can FDT during the games to distract the other teams so we can score. This wouldn't work against the tarholes but it sounds like a pretty good idea to me. [Edited on April 11, 2006 at 10:26 PM. Reason : ]

you dont run a fucking coach out of town when you dont have someone waiting to get in
4/11/2006 10:55:45 PM
^We got the point when you posted that in the other 20 threads.
4/11/2006 10:56:27 PM
4/11/2006 10:56:59 PM
how many coaches have been hired before the current one has been fired?
4/11/2006 10:57:33 PM
Zero. I'm sure many have a verbal agreement, though.
4/11/2006 10:58:49 PM
I know he isn't well liked but why not Steve Lavin? How about Fran Fraschilla? Either one of those two would work for me over a Brady or Haith.
4/12/2006 12:27:16 AM
Bobby Lutz.
4/12/2006 12:37:01 AM
jordan collins?
4/12/2006 12:56:35 AM
Wright is the obvious, though doubtful, #3. From there I say go to Marshall.

why can't kay yow just coach both teams?
4/12/2006 1:05:56 AM
We haven't looked in the Big Ten yet. Thad Matta would be worth pursuing if he didn't have an awesome class coming next year. Only been at OSU for two years, though.
4/12/2006 1:07:13 AM
NC State has never hired a "big name" in either sport as coach. Offer 500k a year to Sean Miller.
4/12/2006 2:29:02 AM
we've already gotten our name out there in the last 5 years and we are a more appealing school. i dont think that a big name coach is what we have to have. i think a young coach like marshall will be able to step in with our already good talent and incomning recruiting class and be able to be effective.
4/12/2006 2:33:44 AM
take note of these namessome SERIOUS names up here for considerationStan Van Gundy, Paul Silas, Johnny Davis, Jeff Bzdelik, Tim Floyd, Bob Weiss, Randy Whittman, Chris Ford, Don Casey, PJ Carlesimo, Bill Cartwright, or Leony Wilkens
4/12/2006 2:38:51 AM
STAN VAN GUNDY!!!! YESSSSS!!!!Ron Jeremy look-alike
4/12/2006 2:51:38 AM
Jeff and Tim Floyd are my two top choices actually
4/12/2006 3:08:58 AM
anyone gonna comment on those coaches? mainly Jeff Bzdelik and Tim Floyd

what makes me agnry about John Calimari is if he knew he wasn't going to accept a job here why'd he allow us to wine and dine him with state money. That could have paid some poor students tuition for a year. Also I wouldn't be mad if we selected an interim coach becuase getting another mediocore coach would suck as we'd be stuck with them for the next 10 years.
4/12/2006 6:39:48 AM
^If you think that was State money, I really feel sorry for you.If we are having trouble hiring a new "permanent" coach, what makes you think someone would come here as an "interim". We aren't searching for a pastor, we are looking for a basketball coach. The only time you have an interim coach in college basketball is if a head coach abruptly leaves or is fired midseason or just before the season starts. We aren't even past the middle of April...
