"With the first pick of the (MLB/NBA/NFL) draft, the _______s pick, from North Carolina State, _______."

I wouldn't know what to do if a player from State went #1. I think what happened with Phil Rivers is the closest we'll ever come to having the first draft pick come from our school.

Yeah, that's my quote from before. I saw the news about 30 minutes ago, and I'm still shaking my head. CRAZINESS!

^FYI Mario Williams will be ultimately better than Julius Peppers and Reggie Bush will ultimately be a punt returner

"NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Houston Texans announced the surprise signing of North Carolina defensive end Mario Williams on Friday, taking him instead of Reggie Bush as the first overall pick in Saturday's NFL draft.

After already stating they wanted their top selection secured ahead the draft, the Texans chose the 6ft-6in Williams over Southern California tailback and Heisman Trophy winner Bush, who many had pegged as the number one overall pick.

In three seasons with North Carolina, Williams started 34 of 36 games, making 175 tackles, 55.5 tackles for loss and had 26.5 sacks and was considered the top defensive player available in this year's draft in New York.

the ones that are the sluttiest.

I wonder what he will be rated in Madden?

I bet Bush gets rated higher, just out of pure hype.

I hope he does well. This goes to show that they dont just draft off "pure" talent but potential rather. It was funny when he was talkin shit about bush and quoting him.

correction-SOME teams just draft of potential

I do know the Texans are getting railed on national sports talk radio and on ESPN. People swear that Bush is the second coming and that Mario is just "ok". Ask Detroit how far you can ride a Hall of Fame RB with no supporting cast.

^^^ What in gods name are you talking about?

Ive been saying for a long time the Texans would be better off trading down and going with someone else. It suits their team needs better.

Just because Bush was out of their price range it doesn't mean he won't be better than Mario.

I think Mario is eventually going to be a damn good NFL player and that its a fine pick for the Texans...

That doesnt mean Bush won't be a pro bowler within his first season or two

no no no rally, your argument was Bush going to TEXAS only. Stop tryn to get out of this! You thought they would pic him

You constantly brought up Dom Davis yada yada yada, remeber the IF/Then perfect world scenario you kept creating????

you absolutely said nothing about trading down in that friggin thread. But hey dude, i think its a dumb

idea by the texans. OFFENSE FIRST

Mario is the first ACC player ever taken #1.

gg Mario

Question is... do we retire his jersey (And you all know I'm not one to throw that idea around lightly). I think we kind of have to. First ever ACC #1 draft pick

^^ no... i know this is probably an antiquated notion, but i don't think we should retire the numbers of people who didn't graduate... maybe if he comes back and finishes his degree it's another story, but i don't like the idea of having someone up there who didn't get a diploma...

to be fair, Reggie Bush, who is 2/3 his size, did it like 25 times, thats also very impressive

I think it was a tossup between Mario and Bush anyway, as to who will be the best. And I think that Bush have be a bigger impact on a team with no good DEs or RBs. But the texans have a good RB, and ranked like 31st in defense last year.

Having an explosive pass rusher like Williams will improve every aspect of their defense.

tough question. If he played 4 years then definately yes, but I'm not sure.

I don't want to start the UNC crap of retiring college jerseys based on professional success.

Tell him we'll retire his jersey when he finishes his degree....seems fair to me...regardless of Pro-success. He's the best defensive end in school history.
