Page 2 says bring back old Tuffy
4/20/2006 2:42:58 PM
thats crap
4/20/2006 2:44:32 PM
i think i prefer the new block s. doesn't crucify me, please.
4/20/2006 2:46:36 PM
i like the smaller N and C so you can see how the S flows around them
4/20/2006 2:48:06 PM
^ Personally, the changes are fine for me for the block S. The N and C look more integrated instead of looking stacked above the block STuffy, on the other hand, Hell no
4/20/2006 2:49:11 PM
yeah that new tuffy shit is sacrilege.
4/20/2006 2:52:56 PM
I don't understand why people get so attached.I like the old tuffy as much as anybody but the new one looks fine. Geeeez.
4/20/2006 2:54:42 PM
^ Get your poker-playing ass the fuck out of Sports Talk.
4/20/2006 2:58:48 PM
The reason why people are mad taht tuffy has been changed, because tuffy has been the same for 80 fucking years.
4/20/2006 3:00:48 PM
the problem most people see is that the new Tuffy looks cheap. the old Tuffy had a lot of detail to it and looked professional. it had character, while the new one looks generic enough to be a new Disney cartoon memeber. it's not a question of attachment here, it's a question of which looks better and more unique.
4/20/2006 3:00:58 PM
I'm going to echo the sentiment above and agree that the block S is acceptable, I'd even go so far to say that it's an improvement... it recalls the older condensed block S shape we used a really long time ago, like the one that used to be at midcourt in ReynoldsI think Tuffy's character (stripes, etc) was compromised to give him a more contemporary look that would make him more marketable today for tshirts and whatever other memorabilia the NCSU higher ups are gonna stick his mug on
4/20/2006 3:05:57 PM
I think the new Block "s" would be more distinctive on the football helmets. I remember people complaining that it looked like Stanford's logo from a distance.
4/20/2006 3:06:23 PM
this is actually similar to the changes made to Wisconsin's Bucky the Badger logo recently. its just been streamlined a little more. its easier to reproduce.old bucky:new bucky:i was always disappointed that they never used this script logo for anything:when separated from the 3 rats, it looks pretty nice as a possible endzone script or even a helmet logo (fuck the block "S", its unoriginal. stanford, syracuse, michigan state, and penn state have it, too)[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 3:34 PM. Reason : .]
4/20/2006 3:29:03 PM
yeah but at least they kept the lines on the sweater. they didn't do that with Tuffy, and they changed the lettering on the hat.
4/20/2006 3:32:50 PM
The old Strutting wolf looks so much more bad ass...
4/20/2006 3:37:30 PM
this would look good as a half-court logoFYI: the old half-court logo, from the rubber court days and before, did not have the N or C in it.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 3:39 PM. Reason : .]
4/20/2006 3:38:06 PM
there should NEVER be an S without the N and C on it.Thats what makes our block S the best, we dont just use color, we use the state.
4/20/2006 3:39:42 PM
4/20/2006 3:40:29 PM
no offense, but that logo looks like ass
4/20/2006 3:40:34 PM
this is the old reynolds court. there's no N or C there.and how does that script look anything like florida? it doesnt. the current helmets look like stanford from the distance, if youre going to go there.the "S" should stay due to tradition. doesnt mean its not unoriginal, tho.the old wolf is still the best logo we have, however, and now its gone. oh well, not like athletics used it anyway (aside from women's bball).[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 3:44 PM. Reason : .]
4/20/2006 3:42:07 PM
yeah i know there didnt used to be an N or Cand thats crap, it could just be a red syracuse or michigan state logoBlock S as it is now is the best icon for our school IMO
4/20/2006 3:46:08 PM
i don't think the newer version of the block S is bad.the newer version of tuffy is sacrilege.]
4/20/2006 3:55:02 PM
i didn't say it looked like florida, i'm saying that the idea of using a script logo for a helmet isn't very original, and that seems to be the argument that everyone throws out against the block S. hell, duke used to have a script logo helmet just two years ago.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 3:56 PM. Reason : ]
4/20/2006 3:55:30 PM
and that script things looks like complete shit.
4/20/2006 3:55:59 PM
i sorta like this one
4/20/2006 3:56:33 PM
i don't mind that being a secondary logo, but i think the primary logos should be the block S and Tuffy. also i think that inspires most people to think about the wolf statues in front of the Murphy Center, so it could be used to market State football.
4/20/2006 3:59:01 PM
I could see it as a 2ndary logo to use sorta in the same places where the RBC logos are, maybe on opposide sides from the RBC logos, dunno. They'd have to make the midcourt logo smaller tho, which id prefer anyway.
4/20/2006 4:42:59 PM
If you go to those two links in the first post, it looks like they changed our shade of red as well (from 185 to 186)... not a noticeable difference, but what's the fucking point?
4/20/2006 9:10:53 PM
no offense, but that logo looks like assIt's spelled "toughie," apparently[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 9:15 PM. Reason : sdfsdf]
4/20/2006 9:14:21 PM
i've always seen it spelled Tuffy.
4/20/2006 10:16:20 PM
despite my clemson-brother and auburn-father saying "tuffy" (or "toughie") is a "gay as aids" nickname, the 1950s would contend that 'tuff' is synonymous with cool and badass... circa The Outsiders... i'd stick with "tuffy"of course i don't have the legacy to make a claim that "tuffy" is the traditional way to spell it, but that's just my interpretation...[Edited on April 21, 2006 at 3:19 AM. Reason : of course i....]
4/21/2006 3:13:39 AM
^it's one of the new, gay changes that they made
4/21/2006 3:24:47 AM
damn... i wasn't aware of that, but that seems to be something else that needlessly fucks with tradition.
4/21/2006 3:44:20 AM
fuckin a
5/15/2006 3:34:36 PM
goddammit they've neutered tuffythere's a large jpeg of his sorry new ass here: http://www.ncs.ncsu.edu/trademark/images/ncsu/new_cd/NCS_Body_2C.jpgalso, tons of tif files for all these logos here: http://www.ncs.ncsu.edu/trademark/images/ncsu/new_cd/[Edited on May 15, 2006 at 4:26 PM. Reason : *]
5/15/2006 4:19:20 PM
BRING BACK OLD TUFFY!!I leave for one semester and see what happens?!
5/15/2006 5:35:12 PM
he wasnt used hardly any anyway. not on uniforms or at venues, anyways.
5/15/2006 5:38:12 PM
i like the really old block 's' with 'n' and 'c', which i believe is on the second link on the first post
5/15/2006 8:15:43 PM
