too bad he didn't say "I don't give a fuck about NC State"...then the tarholes could make shirts like ours that say, "I agree with Rick..." when he takes the job.
4/2/2006 7:42:08 PM
nc state would be quite a step down for himmy sources say. awesome. he asked for suspension so i say give it to him (though i live his s/n )
4/2/2006 8:32:49 PM
state would be a step up. texas basketball is and always will be second fiddle to texas football. texas forgets about basketball about the time of the beginning of spring football practice, no matter how good or bad they did. One could argue that texas baseball is just as big as basketball also.plus big 12 basketball to acc basketball, acc is head and sholders above big 12.it just depends on if he wants a lot of pressure, but a chance to be a god here, or no pressure but always being 2nd within the school.
4/3/2006 11:31:56 AM
eh, currently i agree that nc state would be a step down for barnes.why would he subject himself to the BS that herb had to deal with (which barnes even made comments about), when he has already built a great program with great fan support in texas?even though texas basketball may be 2nd to football, its support is still heads and shoulders above the support we have here.
4/3/2006 11:41:32 AM
Barnes has it made in Texas. He can produce somewhat "above average" results as he did this year...and never have to worry about his job. He can recruit just Texas players and always be competitive. And he can still get paid out the wazoo. Why come to pressure-packed Raleigh for possibly a little bit more money and have every one of your moves scrutinzed??? He'd have to REALLY REALLY want to coach in the ACC and have another shot at UNC on a consistent basis. I just don't see it happening.
4/3/2006 11:46:44 AM
i agree he will be under more pressure. see my post.but, if he wins an acc championship/ goes deep into the ncaa tourney within few years, he will be worshiped.I guess it depends on your criteria for a step down.according to ya'll, going from say george mason to ncsu would be a step down b/c there would be more pressure?[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 11:49 AM. My source made the honor roll at Union Elementary School. [/bumpersticker]
4/3/2006 11:48:07 AM
I would say that the amount of pressure a coach is under to win is a decent indicator of the quality (or percieved quality) of the program as a whole.
4/3/2006 11:51:45 AM
I'm sure K is really sweating things out these days.

CALIPARII think Barnes was like 1-11 against UNC and Duke.
4/3/2006 12:23:13 PM
4/3/2006 12:23:54 PM
We're not getting Barnes.Coaches don't state, twice, that they won't leave their current school.
4/3/2006 12:24:02 PM
i dont understand why the mods on here crybaby so muchif you think the thread is bullshit, delete ityou can't shouldnt be able to suspend somebody just b/c you all of a sudden decide you dont like some thread of theirswho cares if his sources are full of shit? this is a COLLEGE message board, we all should be old (i mean arent you 30) and smart enough to ignore shit until it is damn near official.

4/3/2006 12:40:19 PM
ha, i read on the Texas message board where they are making the case that Big 12 basketball is much better than ACC basketball. This is just a joke to me. Think about the top programs in the Big 12: Texas (and only of late); Oklahoma (sometimes, but not really since Hollis Price left); ummmmm Iowa State?? back in the Eustachy era; er, well OSU (but they are heading down quick); well, you get the point.
4/3/2006 12:43:36 PM
Im pretty sure he wont be coming here
4/3/2006 1:10:44 PM
^^^No, I got it, but it detracted from my joke, so I chose to ignore it.
4/3/2006 1:20:15 PM
he's really not coming hereour embarrassing fans are one of the nails in that coffin
4/3/2006 1:25:20 PM
You kind of left out a very important Big 12 team... Kansas... Not defending the Big 12, just mentioning they are pretty good, and have been for a while.
4/3/2006 1:51:35 PM
and doesn't he have two HS all americans comign in next year, or is it just one? i dont remember.

4/3/2006 1:59:15 PM
4/3/2006 2:15:19 PM
how many times did he say he didnt give a shit about Carolina right now? at least once
4/3/2006 2:15:53 PM
4/3/2006 2:17:23 PM
^^once...and if you look at the context, it make perfect sense.he was in the final 4 with kansas and he was getting asked questions about taking the job at unc. it wasnt an appropriate time for the questions, and he got upset about it.of course, all the dumbasses over here took it as "he doesnt care about unc" which couldnt have been furthur from the truth.the situations in which barnes was questioned was completely different then the time that williams was. its not difficult to see the differences and realize that you are comparing apples with oranges.[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 2:18 PM. 4/3/2006 2:17:56 PM
^He still never flatly stated that he was not considering the UNC job. He basically just dodged the question with some profanity and emotion.
4/3/2006 2:19:17 PM
no he didnt. he said "i could give a shit about UNC right now." he was at the final 4 with Kansas. of course he wasnt contemplating the job...he was in the middle of working his current job. he never said he wasnt considering it at all.[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 2:26 PM. Reason : it still has the same meaning]
4/3/2006 2:21:13 PM
Damn it, I'm going to post the clip so that both sides can stop misquoting it. Here you go:http://www4.ncsu.edu/~dscosgro/Roy_On_The_UNC_Question.wav
4/3/2006 2:25:31 PM
the correct quote, since nobody but me seems to remember it, was"I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT CAROLINA RIGHT NOW"now i understand he is coaching at kansas and wasnt thinking about carolina...but if i was coaching at kansas and was an nc state alumni, i wouldnt cuss state like he did carolina...have some fucking pride roy
4/3/2006 2:26:00 PM
^^ it still has the same meaning as what i said.^wrong.[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 2:27 PM. Reason : df]

he was irritated at the stupid bitch who asked the questionhe had kids that just got knockedo out of the final four and needed to deal with them. Who the fuck WOULD care about carolina then?
4/3/2006 2:29:11 PM
agreed. he never bad mouthed carolina. he cussed at the reporters.but our jaded fans seem to like to twist everything around.[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 2:30 PM. Reason : df]

My sources say it doesn't matter what Roy said when considering the actions of Rick Barnes, who isn't coming to coach here. John Kruk is full of pine tar. But hey, if he somehow isn't...
