Pinehurst #2 is the best ive played. Mt. Mitchel Golf Club is one of my favorites.
3/31/2006 11:17:52 AM
this picture sucks again, and the course isnt usually in great shape, but I played a US Amateur qualifier at Oak Valley in Advance last summer and the course couldnt have been any better. There were NO bad lies in the fairways, the greens were fast as hell...but not too hard, and everything just looked perfect.[Edited on March 31, 2006 at 11:35 AM. Reason : ]

3/31/2006 1:19:37 PM
Isnt True Blue that DLIII course?????I'd shit on it before I played it...fuck that hole.
3/31/2006 1:39:31 PM
I've played True Blue and Caledonia but when I played 1, if not both, they were so new that they kinda stunk. Tee's and Greens weren't in great shape and the I really like couses with old trees...which I don't remember these having. There was a couse down there called Heritage that I really enjoyed.
3/31/2006 1:47:37 PM
Old Beau for sure. I love that course up in the mountains.

Yea, heritage was really nice too. Caledonia has some older trees on it, but true blue doesn't really have any, and no, I'm pretty sure True Blue isn't a DLIII course.Litchfield CC was an older course and had a lot of old trees and stuff. Nice classic layout, but not up to the level of the other courses I listed. Gotta heck of a deal to play all these to because of my local ID (Which I still have)
3/31/2006 3:56:29 PM
gimmie $10 and ill get you green fees onto Pinehurst #2
3/31/2006 4:11:23 PM
3/31/2006 4:17:38 PM
^ they are all Mike Strantz designs, Interesting Style especially if you have played Caledonia and Tobacco Road, hard to believe it is the same guy. He just died within the last year also.
3/31/2006 8:50:04 PM
For the money Hillandale... even if you do have to be careful not to slice into the construction on 85.
3/31/2006 10:11:29 PM
Raleigh Country Club.Early summer and fall....you cant beat it. Fast undulating greens, perfect fairways, its not too long, but hard as hell....compliments of Donald Ross. Too bad its private, and I probably wont ever play it again
3/31/2006 10:15:49 PM
Augusta Nationalbut I also really like Pinehurst #2 and #8.Raleigh CC is the only place I play around Raleigh, its the best course around here by far.[Edited on March 31, 2006 at 10:50 PM. Reason : s]
3/31/2006 10:50:06 PM
when and how did you play Augusta?
3/31/2006 10:54:18 PM
have you fucking seriously played Augusta??????????????????????????????????And, are you really a member at RCC?????????????????????If so, how much is the guest fee, we need to play
3/31/2006 10:55:08 PM

3/31/2006 10:59:09 PM
I lived in Pinehurst.I don't golf.
3/31/2006 11:07:12 PM
sucks for youIf you lived in the actual village of pinehurst, and not in southern pines, you would have had a membership to all 8 courses.
3/31/2006 11:12:57 PM
I lived in CCNC.The courses there are supposed to be pretty good, I think.
3/31/2006 11:19:11 PM
if CCNC is Country Club of North Carolina...yes....that course is supposed to be awesome.[Edited on March 31, 2006 at 11:20 PM. Reason : ]

Well, there's two (Dogwood and Cardinal, I'm pretty sure). Not sure which has the better reputation.[Edited on March 31, 2006 at 11:26 PM. Reason : I heard MJ would play there]
3/31/2006 11:22:36 PM
I've heard of the Dogwood course, idk about the other one. They have a lot of regional/state golf championships and qualifiers at ccnc, so i'm sure both courses are used and both are good. My dad played one of them a few years ago with a guy who is a member at ccnc and pinehurst. Then he invited me to go play #2 with them a few weeks later, but my dad decided school was more important...fuck that shit...i still havent played it.
