i haven't had any dropped calls w/ Cingular ever since I upgraded from a Motorola V-series phone to a Sony Ericsson.

and id bet additional money that a large percentage of those dropped calls happened during long calls, or after a long call when the phone was still hot

so is sprint any good?

I've had Alltel forever... and although their customer service has gone way downhill since the beginning (now they're just comparable to all the other cellular phone providers)... their service has improved as of late. My mom & I both have phones, use them both as primary lines (and we use them a lot), and we haven't gone over our minutes in years (I think our bill is something like $75/mo., but that includes insurance on both of our phones). Sometimes voicemail messages & text messages will show up the next day... and I, too, get that clicking noise when a call is trying to go through or it is a really cloudy overcast day. I looked at verizon's phones the other day, though... they all have so much gadgetry that it seems highly likely for them to malfunction (especially the one that flips open to a qwerty keyboard but is priced at like $199.99 w/ a 2 yr contract) ... but who knows.

actually, verizon wireless has the most stringent testing procedures for phones out of all the major carriers. that's why we always joked that if you wanted to see what phones vzw would have in 6 months, log on to the sprint site and look at what's on sale now
