haha, well, this did turn more into a chit chat, however, it would never had been this popular and creative
3/29/2006 8:19:12 PM
so lets talk basketball... do you think Grundy will see the floor... he was called up to replace Salim Stoudamire and he played decent minutes...
3/29/2006 8:50:18 PM

3/29/2006 8:55:12 PM
I hope he really does well.... Go Go Grundy!
3/29/2006 9:02:32 PM

3/29/2006 9:10:27 PM
what a cool fucking story; undrafted, works his ass off, FINALLY gets a shot, produces in his fisrt NBA game with real playing time(I think).awesome story for an awesome guy.6 points, 1 steal, 3 rebs, 2 fouls, 1 turnover in 15 minutes[Edited on March 29, 2006 at 9:23 PM. Reason : djs]
3/29/2006 9:23:15 PM
nice!
3/29/2006 10:07:28 PM
Maybe he could replace Archie Miller as the assistant coach.I'd love that.
3/30/2006 12:57:40 AM
Ummm no not yet. Let him enjoy about 10 years in the NBA.Go Grundy Go!
3/30/2006 1:14:25 AM
Grundy is the original inventor of the "Grundy Shot" which is a beyond impossible shot heaved at the basket that goes in while you're being mugged and falling at the same time....
3/30/2006 8:55:01 AM
3/30/2006 8:59:15 AM
A year ago, who would've guessed that Grundy would average more minutes in the NBA than Hodge?
3/30/2006 9:00:18 AM
i want more former State players in the NBA bc my friend who is a damn Duke fan wants to make it a pissing contest outta who has more guys playing gg Grundy
3/30/2006 9:08:21 AM
Oh, and there's no foul called on a "Grundy Shot" either. GG Grundy!
3/30/2006 9:15:08 AM
Grundy should start at Hawks and Hawks will be NBA champions... next year
3/30/2006 9:26:10 AM
here are his complete stats from last night:15.4 Min.2-3 FG1-1 3pt FG1-2 FT3 Def. Reb1 Steal1 Turnover2 Personal Foul
3/30/2006 9:47:10 AM
We got some quality NC State Alumni on current NBATom GugliottaJulius HodgeAnthony GrundyJosh PowellDamien Wilkins...
3/30/2006 9:52:37 AM
I refuse to count Damien Wilkins
3/30/2006 10:23:18 AM
you have to count wilkins just because if you dont, we dont have 5 players in the league so we couldnt have an all state current nba team
3/30/2006 11:48:58 AM
He was an asshole. I remember how bad he was. He was almost Rashaad McCants before McCants got Doherty fired....
3/30/2006 11:50:26 AM
i dont like him either but if im making some fake nba team on a video game of all state players...well there arent a lot, thats all im saying...that fucking georgia transfer bastard
3/30/2006 11:53:16 AM
It's not that I dislike UGA, I just cannot stand Wilkins. He thought he was the shit, and just really played like shit. I remember the student section chanting "Please don't shoot it" when Damien got the ball....
3/30/2006 12:02:40 PM
^ Actually, I don't remember that at all. I remember that he WOULDN'T take the shot when he had a decent look a lot of the time. I mean, i could be thinking of someone else, but I swear that this was an issue with him.
3/30/2006 12:06:20 PM
He was a ballhog. Wore the Number 1 on his jersey. Always wanted the ball, even when he was double teamed. Then he would shoot bricks like he was building a house....
3/30/2006 12:09:01 PM
Bobby is right. Damien seemed scared to take shots... like he just didn't want to fail. Especially in crucial moments of the game.
3/30/2006 12:40:21 PM
he passed up a ton of shotsresulting in the damien wilkins head fake (tm), the industry leader in unconvincing head fakes
3/30/2006 1:46:38 PM
ahahhaa, i had forgotten about the tourette's style head fakes.
3/30/2006 1:51:57 PM
3/30/2006 3:52:55 PM
he was on the Hawks last I heard, but I don't think he was on the roster at the Bobcats Hawks game the other night...maybe he got injured or retired
3/30/2006 4:07:42 PM
ESPN.com and nba.com list his last playing time as 47 games in the 2004-05 season (with the Celts and Hawks)[Edited on March 30, 2006 at 4:23 PM. Reason : ,]
3/30/2006 4:17:37 PM
yeah he could've retired...how long was he in the league?
3/30/2006 4:18:09 PM
'97-98 was definitely his best year21ppg, 9rpg, 4apg...never averaged more than 6ppg in a season after 2000[Edited on March 30, 2006 at 4:22 PM. Reason : rookie in '92 with Bullets]
3/30/2006 4:22:13 PM
cause that fucker had a bad injury with the Suns around that time...I think I remember he was supposed to be on the 2000 Summer Olympic team actually
3/30/2006 4:23:31 PM
That and he had a near death experience with ephedra. He just never fully recovered from either.

http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/hawks/stories/0331hawks.htmlAnthony Grundy never intended to be a symbol. All he wanted was an opportunity. A chance to show that he belonged, a chance to show that his hard work hadn't been in vain. But in a little over 15 minutes in Wednesday night's win over Indiana, the Hawks' recentNBDL call-up showed his teammates (he was with the team in summer league and training camp) what it means to seize the moment."I don't care if it's one minute, five minutes or 10 minutes," Grundy said. "You have to go out there and give energy, be a director and do whatever your team needs you to do. You have to do something special."Grundy's brief but significant contribution — he scored six points, grabbed three rebounds and had a steal in early relief of Hawks co-captain Joe Johnson — helped the Hawks snap a five-game losing streak. It also was an example of what can be done when a game is attacked with the urgency Hawks coach Mike Woodson has preached all season."For a guy to come in and not exactly know what we're doing, he played well," said Woodson, whose team faces the surging New Jersey Nets Friday night at Philips Arena. "Since camp, we made some changes to our offense and defense, and we put in a lot of offensive sets. So he was quick to pick things up, and that didn't hurt him."Neither did the flashbacks of where he's been since leaving North Carolina State four years ago.Stints in pro leagues in Germany his first two years out of school and in Israel last year led him to the Hawks last summer. When he didn't make the cut, Grundy opted for the NBDL, where he starred for the Roanoke Dazzle. That's also where he developed his hunger for the opportunity he has now."He's never been up here [for the regular season], never had anything guaranteed in this league," Hawks co-captain Al Harrington said. "So he's always going to be fighting like a dog for every little nook and cranny, every little crumb on the table. You have to admire that. Because that's a guy that respects the game. He knows what it's all about."If it was up to him, he'd knock somebody's head off their shoulders to stay in the game, and not everybody is willing to lay it on the line like that. He's taking his experience and using it to his advantage right now. And to me, you can never knock another man's hustle."Even while he was tearing up the D-League competition, leading the league in scoring with 23.2 points per game, Grundy kept an eye on the Hawks. He thought there might be a chance for his return when veteran point guard Tyronn Lue went down with a sprained knee ligament in February. Lue is scheduled to return tonight. When rookie guard Salim Stoudamire was lost for the remainder of the season two weeks ago with a sprained elbow, he knew there was an opening. When the call came, he knew he was ready."Coming from a league where I was doing this and doing that doesn't matter," Grundy said. "You learn to take a back seat. But you still have to do something special to get the minutes on the floor. You do that and slowly but surely you can work to become a solid player in this league."[Edited on March 31, 2006 at 10:02 AM. Reason : .]
3/31/2006 10:00:25 AM
notice any arrogance from his fellow players about scraps from the table?? Grundy needs to get h0ngry and take a mufuka's plate!
3/31/2006 10:04:56 AM
Googs had a seizure on the team bus after a game.i hadn't heard the ephedra thing.
3/31/2006 10:14:31 AM
gg Grundy
3/31/2006 10:22:23 AM
