^^herb NOT calling a timeout and trusting his senior leader to make a play had nothing to do with it???sometimes the best things coaches do are the things that they don't do[Edited on March 16, 2006 at 12:06 PM. Reason :^

^^you are right, but has roy really taught hansbrough all that he has done this year in the little time that he has coached him???hansbrough works extremely hard, and while i hate his guts, u can't help but respect how hard he plays every night[Edited on March 16, 2006 at 12:15 PM. Reason : ^]

Actually, when hodge was bringing the ball up the floor he looked at Herb and waved him off. Herb was looking to call a timeout
3/16/2006 12:22:22 PM
^ what about Cam's big shot at the end of regulation vs. Clemson. Lets not forget we won some close games before this meltdown.I'm too lazy to get quotes, but a lot of the thing said in thie thread about Ced are wrong. SOme are right, most are just bad. Lets also talk about our teams almost utter lack of ability at entry passes. They make some of the worst passes I have seen. All the position in the world cant save a shitty pass.
3/16/2006 12:23:08 PM
yea i was about to say thatHodge waved it off and said "i got this"

3/16/2006 12:25:12 PM
"close games"Lets all remember that many of those were close games that shouldnt have been close... Yes our players made some big shots during most of those games... but if you rely on making that big shot in every game, you will be average, at best.lets not forget back to back 13-0 runs by dook and tarholes

^He's saying as compared to recruiting before Herb.
3/17/2006 9:42:55 AM
if burleson coaches well have to go to 45 minute halftimes so hell have time to get out what he wants to say.
3/17/2006 10:42:51 AM
On the one hand, it'd be cool to have a coaching staff composed of DT, Burleson, and Towe. On the other, these guys have no experience with coaching or recruiting.I would like it if our staff would work with these guys a little more. You've got to think Burleson could teach Ced and Brack how to grab some rebounds--they've already got the size, they need the fire.We have some of the best players in our program's history at every game, wanting to be involved, but the staff prefers to do its own thing rather than take advantage of that...
3/17/2006 1:18:21 PM
on that knight school show, bob knight brought in former players and other great players of the past and had them speak to the guys. he may have just been doing that for show for the program, but he said he does that with his team. seems like a cool/good idea.

^I know it's common for football teams to bring their alumni around for motivation/teaching, I don't know how many basketball teams do it.Probably has a lot to do with the difference in mentality between Herb and the older alumni (as evidenced by Tommy's comments...)But I was thinking about the suggestion of DT coaching today, and it made me think of Isiah Thomas. Amazing player, awful at administrating.[Edited on March 17, 2006 at 1:24 PM. Reason : ]
3/17/2006 1:23:02 PM
does DT have any credentials that would suggest he'd be a solid BBall coach at NCSU? (other than his experience as a player, and HUGE reputation here)
3/17/2006 1:41:19 PM
^Not really. Giving him the job would be a total gamble.
3/17/2006 1:42:18 PM
well, if burleson or dt ends up coaching us, at least then we can squarely place blame on the douchebag old alumnuses that are trying to run herb out when we go 8-18...[Edited on March 17, 2006 at 1:43 PM. Reason : .]
3/17/2006 1:43:17 PM
I think it would make their heads explode. They're so ingrained to attack the coachbut there's no way they could attack DT.DOES NOT COMPUTE
3/17/2006 1:46:54 PM
If we wanted DT to coach the team, we'd have had him on the staff a long time ago. You cant go from coaching nothing to head coach of a huge school like State.
3/17/2006 1:48:24 PM
DT won't coach us... no wayI have to think Burleson might have been a little tongue-in-cheek on that one that didn't come through on the radio (Like, said it with a smile on his face or something)Surely he wasn't serious. (And I listened to it as well, he sounded serious from his voice, but surely he's smart enough to realize DT has absolutely no coaching experience).
3/17/2006 1:48:41 PM
Herb is the Jimmy Carter of NCAA bball...that said, lets let the team play without writing any more technician articles plz
3/17/2006 1:49:56 PM
3/17/2006 1:49:57 PM
On a side note, did anyone watching the game @Wake see if DT was there behind our bench?I could've sworn I saw him from my seat, wearing that red hat he always has.But by the time I left, I was so disgusted that I forgot to go see if it was him.

Doh at UNC was nowhere NEAR the level that DT is here.Doh was a decent player, DT is like a god to our alumni.
3/17/2006 1:52:18 PM
yeah, we all know what a legend Doh was at unc michael jordan coaching unc would be a better comparison
3/17/2006 1:52:43 PM
good point...but UNC isn't stupid enough to let an ex-player w/ no previous experience coach their team. Just saying...if DT came in here and did a bad job...he'd get crapped on too. Our fans need someone who will flat out win basketball games and develop us into one of the elite programs in the country. Until then, I don't think people will be happy. Herb's kept us top 20 all season...and look at us.
3/17/2006 1:56:46 PM
This is getting rediculous, Sate is a very competative team. We won 10 GAMES in the ACC this season.

85% of the WPC wants Herb out? They send out a survey? Sounds like crap to me and thanks to all of you that decided to quit before the season is over and put a ton of stress and pressure on our players. I guess getting Herb out of here is better than winning games. Herb may not be the best right now, but at least let him finish the season.
3/17/2006 6:46:23 PM
yeah, I guess the players were "too stressed" because of the fans when they got blown out by unc in front of the biggest rbc crowd of the year.
3/17/2006 6:51:51 PM
heythats not even close to what he saidgood try you fucking moron
3/17/2006 6:52:44 PM
