(lack of) momentum is huge.

it also bothered me that herb didn't even seem upset at the fact that our basketball team looked like a bunch of retards by losing in the first round on the acc tourney to a fucking 12th seed. you would think that that would royally piss off a coach but it didn't. makes me worry about our chances of turning it around when herb dosen't even seem that bothered by our teams recent shitty play.

I'm fucking torn because I put a lot of pride in my brackets. I've won my last two pools, and my NC State bias almost gets me killed every year (it got me killed the first two times we made the tourney).I really want to say we can beat Cal and upset Texas. But the smart predictor in me says we go down to Cal, and at the most get beat by Texas.I hate this dilemma. I remember watching a sports gambling special one day with this guy who is one of the biggest gamblers in the US, and he started off the interview by saying that he never develops favorites...favorite teams, coaches, or players...he never has favorites because it fucks up your betting.

Dont worry Herb supporters....I see us upsetting two good teams and making it to the sweet 16 again so Herb saves his ass again. Then its another year of this bullshit. I'm not pulling against us, but at least this time I wont be furious if we lose.
3/12/2006 9:48:37 PM
^^^ i'm having this exact problem filling out my bracket.
3/12/2006 9:49:18 PM
^^Nah...there's a difference.I loved Nate Robinson at Washington. I always thought he could will his team to win. But he tried to become this pass-first point guard during his senior year and didn't play as well as I thought he could (although it probably helped his draft status). I finally figured this out by tourney time, but if I had let my bias sway me, I could have had Washington in the Final Four.I look at "favorites" as teams and players I like to see play and I want to win regardless of whether or not I'm betting on them.null[Edited on March 12, 2006 at 9:52 PM. I've seen this one before, and I don't like how it ended last time.Of course, last time I had WAY more confidence in our team.

^^^^^Ha...I wouldn't worry about it. Last time I was in a bracket with a girl, she beat the shit out of everyone...and she probably watched two college basketball games all year. Ridiculous.I love watching the first two rounds at a bar and hearing everyone bitching about how "my bracket is fucked!!" after like the first two games because one of their "surprise Final 4" picks got ousted in the first round.God I love the NCAA tournament.[Edited on March 12, 2006 at 10:01 PM. i was at Playmaker's for that gamethat place went from 1000 customers to 0 customers in a split-second when that bastard hit the three

I'm really confused as to why we ended up in the same regional as Duke...when there's an entire region with no ACC teams. Would it have really been so horrible to switch our place with Alabama?I'd rather be in any other region than the one we got.

3/13/2006 8:22:58 AM
i'll be there
3/13/2006 8:27:07 AM
According to ESPN's Tourney Challenge we're favored to win by most of the country
3/13/2006 11:03:19 AM
Depends...If we show up (i.e., play like we did against GW or the first BC game), we would blow past Cal and have a good chance at beating Texas (they have better talent but I really think they've underperformed all year). However, considering that we haven't really shown up since before Seton Hall, that's just not very likely.
3/13/2006 11:04:58 AM
if we end up beating California and playing Texasthere wont be any Texas fans in DALLAS TEXAS where we would play
3/13/2006 11:08:52 AM
hahawe had some good road wins this year though. if we get our shooting back, who knows what we could do.
3/13/2006 11:09:50 AM
^It's not so much that shots aren't falling--our percentages have fallen because we've been taking a lot of bad shots. If Ced steps up (which should be a little easier since these teams haven't played against him and thus don't know his weaknesses as well) and we can get a decent inside-out game going, we could heat up.The serious problems:Evtimov. Guy hasn't practiced in weeks and yet we know he'll play most of the game. His lack of speed can turn into a serious liability against a talented forward.Brack. PLEASE step up.And even more importantly, our backcourt has to stop just passing back and forth at the top of the key (Atsur, Bethel, Ev) for 30 seconds. Cam and Grant are going to have to step up and force things to happen.
3/13/2006 11:14:06 AM
Oh, and also:We've completely stopped running cuts, I think because of the backlash against the term "Princeton offense." But if you watch, every athletic team in the country uses cuts for easy baskets--UNC, Villanova, Pitt, Georgetown, etc., etc., etc.We NEED to be able to run some cuts just to get inside buckets when we can't depend on Ced and Brack in the paint.
3/13/2006 11:16:57 AM
BYEI'd settle for not getting crushed to the point of embarrassment but even that may be asking too much these days.
