PEOPLE ACT LIKE THEY KNOWWELL I KNOW A FUCKING L ON THE COLUMN WHEN I SEE ONEyay
3/12/2006 4:10:46 PM
yeah you're right, Les Robinson had plenty of them.
3/12/2006 4:39:23 PM
I'm a Princeton O fan. I think Herb is a great guy. I wish we would shoot more 2s. When you shoot a bunch of long range shots, rebounds are harder to get. I'd love to keep him, but I think he's painted into a corner here now, and he needs to get out for his own good before some fucking PackPride morons get him fired.
3/12/2006 4:44:09 PM
You do realize that Packpride makes up about 5% of NC State fans...It's the big money donors that he should be worried about. I know you all like to take out your frustrations on them, but they're the least of the reasons if Herb were to move on or be let go.
3/12/2006 4:47:07 PM
I've been on the fire herb bandwagon for a few weeks now, and the L to wake didnt help matters. But I'm with Packbacker. I'd love it if Herb held a press conference and said...."I'm not giving up on this team, and next year we're going to make some changes. I'm abandoning the princeton offense in favor of something more reliable. I hope I can have your support next season, go pack"I'd welcome him back in a heartbeat. My biggest problem with firing him is replacing him with a BIG NAME coach who can get shit done. I dont think that can happen, so I think he, NC State, and our fans would be better off if he just admitted that his offense sucks and tries to change it.
3/12/2006 4:49:10 PM
i use that as a generalization"packpride fans" include, but are not limited to: people on that board, nc state bloggers, people who call 850AM after losses, the guys who were booing when we would shoot 3s at some games last year, the people who wore black last year, the people who made those t-shirts, and, in general, 99% of our redneck fans. seriously, those guys need to stop embarassing the university on the radio. friday some guy called in and started getting bleeped and was going on and on about rick fucking barnes wanting to fight dean smith and how cool that was. so stupid.
3/12/2006 4:50:58 PM
we have bad fans call in on the radio, but the same rednecks call in for Duke and UNC to do the same shit, so I dont pay much attention to it.
3/12/2006 4:52:54 PM
i dont listen to sports radio much, so i dont know
3/12/2006 4:53:40 PM
Well you do realize that they screen those calls, find the dumbest, backwoods-ish, most boastful motherfucker they can find so he can go on there, make a fool of himself, and boost ratings by people like you who listen and laugh(I listen as well )I'm not saying we have all great fans, but nearly every other fanbase with our history would be doing the same thing as us right now...10 years of frustration and not being able to get over "the hump" will do that to you. Hell, look at Indiana. Indiana doesn't even have 2 schools within 10 miles winning national championships on an annual basis, either. [Edited on March 12, 2006 at 4:56 PM. Reason : ]

3/12/2006 5:19:50 PM
i grew up in raleigh a state fan. i didnt leave town to go to college because i love ncsu i remember going to the games during the valvano/ robinson years. we were not that great, nor were we consistant. i spent money on the tournament, and watched us loseif i can support him, based on what i have seen him do, and where he brought us from, i think everyone should we have the worst fans in college athletics.to see the "fans" shouting obscenities at OUR coach after the loss was appauling, and it makes me wish i wasnt a state fan. no class rednecks
3/12/2006 5:25:53 PM
did you see these fans, how old were they?that is just inexcuseable
3/12/2006 5:27:19 PM
maybe aaronburro can go throw a flag at herb and run away
3/12/2006 5:28:00 PM
they were adults, and they got to him. he actually started screaming back at them, before larry pulled him away. to question a coach in front of his players is the most rediculous thing i have ever witnessed. i think he will leave the program on his own i know i would. and we will suck just like wake forest, another team who pushed their coach out the door....and look where they are now
3/12/2006 5:29:33 PM
i think we'll be fine w/o him. i just fear who we might get.
3/12/2006 5:34:02 PM
just like clemson got better, just like wake is better, just like georgia tech is better with new coaches
3/12/2006 5:35:01 PM
aside from this season, id say GT is definately better. And WF has won more ACC (reg. season) titles in the past 4 years than we have in 15 years.
3/12/2006 5:51:57 PM
yes wf has won a regular season title and gt went to the final fouri will say this for herb, at least he has placed us at a consistently good level, not great, but goodi hope those "fans" were forceably escorted out of the building
3/12/2006 5:59:49 PM
a/b the guys yelling at sendek in front of his playersthat's exactly what we need. if u were at that game friday, there's no way u cannot help be pissed off at sendek. if u give a crap a/b state bball at least. he needs to be gone. if that means making him uncomfortable until he finally stops torturing the fanbase and leaves on his own, i'm all for it.the guy can recruit, but he can't coach worth jack. he is one of the most stubborn coaches out there. his substitutions (or lack thereof) and his failure to scrap this absolutely worthless offense are proof. he needs to get a freaking clue, humble himself, and do what's best for the team, and stop trying to prove a point.and yes, i give credit to herb for what he's done. he's definitely risen the program to a level above les. but its obvious we're not going further without a change. so thanks herb for what you've done, now get over your pride and change your offense and teach the players fundamentals (and a million other things he's gotta do) or gtfo.[Edited on March 12, 2006 at 6:09 PM. i know you did not just argue in favor of verbally berating our coach in front of his players, way to go pal
3/12/2006 6:08:55 PM
i hate carolina.but i admire them for doing what needed to be done to get doh out of there and get a good coach.their fans and players absolutely hated doh and they made it clear. the administration heard and got a real coach. now look at them.and by the way, there's several players on the team, who are not fans of herb by any means. and there always have been (scooter, jules, the million transfers). so you're naive if you think berating the coach hurts the player's feelings. half of em don't even want to play for him.[Edited on March 12, 2006 at 6:13 PM. Doh was doomed from the start becuase hea) Fired Phil Ford as well as the rest of the "UNC lifetime rights" staffb) Kicked Dean Smith out of his office and gave it to his assistant coach... moving Dean down the hall. You step on toes like that you're first day, you aren't going to make many friends
3/12/2006 6:35:12 PM
this thread is full of morons
3/12/2006 6:35:35 PM
well, he's the coach, he should be able to do what he wants... half of UNCs problems then was that it was hangin onto the past w/ Dean. time ot move on. Doh just didn't have the clout he needed to do what needed to be done
3/12/2006 6:42:14 PM
yea the whole doh deal is full of interesting details.bottomline is he sucked and they got rid of em. got a good coach. who develops talent. and they win a national championship and are a 3 seed with walk ons and freshmen.

you missed the tangible part.the money part I could understand. Our boosters have a history of not ponying up the cash when they deem it worthy. the name recoginition is only a by-product of our string of mediocrity for so long.Pros in the NBA... don't you think the coach has just a little bit to do with that?

I've said this in the past but a big problem was the time period where Duke and UNC dominated. While we were KILLED by NCAA sanctions those two programs were at the pinnacle of their existence. That just so happened to correspond with the emergence of the 'ESPN era' of television coverage (I use 'ESPN' lightly because I am referring to the vast increase of coverage on college sports..)We'll never have the advantage like that. Ever. It's nice to think because of our history that we can ever achieve their level again but I'm a realist.. it's just not going to happen. It sucks and it shouldn't be that way but have you guys seen ESPN recently? It's a Duke (mostly but UNC some too) infomercial nearly 24/7. They don't even have to recruit anymore. Networks and analysts do it for them..I know this sounds like a cop-out argument but it has some basis I think..** As for this thread. I like Herb. I always have and I will continue to forever long he is here. And to those who hope we lose: FUCK YOU. You aren't State fans no matter how you rationalize it...[Edited on March 12, 2006 at 9:46 PM. NyM has a great point there. You know a lot of the time I wonder how different things would be if we never went on probation. A Pitino, Calipari, etc. may have already have a dynasty here and we would prolly be matching our triangle counterparts in national dominance.EDIT: If Pitino was here winning championships Herb would have been here too at some point!
