You can put a cloaking device on any ship, as long as you have the cpu and powergrid for it. however, the covert ops and stealth bomber are what they are made for as they get bonuses too them that allow faster movement while cloaked and the ability to warp while cloaked. Also, in order to jump through gates you have to first uncloak, then jump, then once on the other side you have to start your warp, at which point u will be uncloaked, and then recloak, which leaves about a 1-2 second window for, say, a Hawk with full sensor booster setup (like what I used to run) enough time to insta lock you and get 1 volley off, which is usually all it takes to toast you.

Doh... just realized that I don't need Frigates 4 to pilot a destroyer. Dumped a couple of Mining Drones into the corp hanger if anyone can put them to good use.I'll be on and off all day.

I remember when dreads first came out....SE leaders were so sure that MASS had not one single dread, much less anyone that could fly them. Then one day an SA fleet shows up in Paragon Soul with 2 dreads and 1 week later SE gives Western Catch to FIX and hottails it out. The first dread lost in combat was Light Darkness's, and I think he took out like 11 BS's solo before they took him down. If I was still playing I would more than likely have enough to buy at least 1 dread up front, maybe two, but not the skills to fly them
3/11/2006 1:49:11 PM
The video was posted by one of the Goonsquad's 5 masters on our forum. They like to zerg in pvp with cheap, inexpensive ships and overwhelm in sheer numbers.
3/11/2006 3:15:34 PM
I've discovered that missles are quite nice in combat. Need more missles.
3/11/2006 3:47:14 PM

im in the station it says it's in, but i cant figure out how to join. i see several corps in the offices tab, but not that one.
3/11/2006 9:21:39 PM
so in the two weeks of the free trial, how much can you really expect to accomplish? it looks fun, but complicated, and it seems like 2 weeks would barely be much time to get anything accomplished
3/11/2006 9:44:23 PM
You've got time to experience a little bit of what the game has to offer. You can see what mining is like, you can get a feel for light combat, ect. I'm just now getting to my 3rd class of ship, and I've got 5 more days left on my trial... milking it for all it's worth before I start paying
3/11/2006 10:09:06 PM
You have to do your homework before even creating a character so you don't make dumb mistakes like picking a character with 3 Perception.
3/12/2006 3:28:31 AM
you still haven't told me your char name jason, head to mesybier and apply
3/12/2006 3:35:52 AM
Definitely figured out how to put stuff for sale on the open market last night. Insta-selling works sometimes, but I would think the real money is in putting up sell orders in the market, at a price decently below the region avg. Hopefully someone will swing by and purchace.I put 3 mining lasers on my destroyer and went out to mine Scordite last night.. after getting about 6000 units (took about 30 minutes), I went and put the volume up on the market. If it sells, I'll net about 44k isk. I think I like my destroyer as a fighter more than as a miner. I've been obliterating the pirates in our home system. Bounty gets me ~10k per rat, and I can clear an asteroid belt of them in 3 minutes, which about 2 minutes to clean up the cargo containers, and then another 2 minutes to let the capacitor recharge and warp to another belt. After the Duke game I'm gonna get on and try to find either a better place to rat, or an internal security agent at a nearby station so I can run some kill missions. Also, I've tried to organize the corp hangar a little. Try to keep like-items stacked with each other. Most of the big stuff repackages down and can stack. Once we get a bigger stack, lets put it up on the market or sell the stack in a nearby system for lewt.
3/12/2006 1:22:14 PM
I can rename more corp hangers for specific items once i start figuring out what they're all for...
3/12/2006 3:22:41 PM
i applied to the corp, but i don't think it got accepted yet
3/12/2006 3:25:19 PM
3/12/2006 5:56:43 PM
I have no idea what you're talking about.
3/12/2006 7:35:02 PM
i played for about a month as a caldari with a Moa, i got pirated for 400K and lost interest.i never once saw a big fleet battle and that leaves me dissappointed
3/12/2006 7:45:33 PM
i started a new character and like it a lot better since i put my initial talents into arms and etc.will head to mesybier after the downtime.
3/13/2006 6:56:18 AM
got a rifter last night and now i destroy the pirates
3/13/2006 6:58:35 AM
i have a lot of training to do but rifter will be my next shipalso ive got the hang of fighting now so lets go pirate hunting
3/13/2006 7:14:05 AM
dude if you are minthanar, do the missions from the chick that your tutorial agent recommends.i did about 8 missions for her, and at the end she gave me this implant that i sold for 1.5 mil isk. i used that to buy my rifter and a bunch of guns and skills and stuff.i still have 1 mil left.
3/13/2006 7:30:20 AM
k ill make the long ass trip to mesybier and back track and finish her missions, i've done 5 or 6 of em.
3/13/2006 7:41:52 AM
yeah it's worth it. 1.5 mil is a lot of $$$ on your like 2nd or 3rd day playing
3/13/2006 7:50:13 AM
^^^ def do that, they're damn easy and all missions are within 4 jumps of her HQ.when you're flying to amarr space you better get a good book to read
3/13/2006 7:19:53 PM
We're considering moving the corp closer to Caldari space in a .4 or below area, since everyone seems to be geared up now and I have a pretty badass mining vessle.
3/13/2006 8:15:12 PM
I just made 400,000 ISK from AFKing for a few hours in an asteroid belt in .9 space... damn that's nice.
3/13/2006 8:23:04 PM
Nice!!! I just trained up Industrial, and am gonna get a big ship to trade in. I've met some people online who are pretty good at it and are giving me some pointers... more to come later..
3/13/2006 11:58:00 PM
i need to stop getting blown up... second rifter's doing ok though
3/14/2006 1:32:46 AM
Got a midgrade industrial last night. After spending about 10 minutes looking through the trade goods in my region, I found a station selling water for like 32isk a piece, and then a station one jump away buying for a little over 42. 22440 units of water to fill up my cargo hold. Net income is a little over 200k isk a run. Not bad for one jump away. Ran that about 5 times.. takes about 20 minutes to do a run.. pretty quick $$$.
3/14/2006 8:50:46 AM
mmmm... 4mil isk made today in trading
3/15/2006 1:53:01 PM
buy me stuff
3/15/2006 5:34:31 PM

Trading PointersFirst of all, this is just the process I've been following. There is a bunch of information about trading available in the EVE Market Forum. The first few threads that are stickied have beginner trading info. Skills:-Trade: Lets you place sell orders. I haven't gotten to using this yet, but everyone I've talked to and everything I've read says that this is a huge skill to have. It also allows you to train other trade skills which ARE very useful.-Navigation: Increases the movement speed of your ship. -Afterburners: Again, lets you use afterburners. Big speed boost to your ship.-*insert race here* Industrial: Skill level 1 will let you pilot your races entry level industrial. I'm Minmatar, and my entry level industrial is a sack of shit, so I trained it up to level 2 and got our mid-grade. 5160m^3 cargo space. However, it is very big, and very slow. 145km/s is its top speed. This is where Nav and Afterburners come in. The time it takes to get from the end of your warp jump to your station/jumpgate can be cut in half with those skills.-Engineering/Hull Upgrades: Lets you attach cargo-hold expanders! Makes a HUGE difference. I've got 3 on my mid-grade industrial, and they've taken my 5160m^3 ship, and turned it into a 9635m^3 ship. The more stuff you can take with you in one trip, the more money you'll make. -Accounting/Broker Relations/Marketing: I'm just getting to the point of training up to these. They lower the tax/cut taken off your transactions. Basically it means you make a lot more money, but if you're just starting to trade, you probably won't notice it much due to the fact that your transactions are that big. WalkthroughThe process is very simple. Buy low, sell high. This is how I do it. 1- Park you ass in a station and open the market window. Open up the Trade goods tab, then expand the Consumer Good tab. If you get through all the Consumer Goods and don't see anything promising, then goto the Industrial Goods tab and look through those. 2- Click item by item down the list. Look at the stations in your region selling and buying the item. if it helps, organize the selling list by price ascending, and the buying list by decending price. What you're looking for is an item which is being sold for a cheap price, and is buying for a much bigger price somewhere close by. Example: Lets say Station A 2 jumps away is selling Oxygen for 45 isk a piece. Station B is buying Oxygen for 62 isk, and its only 3 jumps away. Looks like a winner.3- Open up your calculator and figure out how much you're gonna make. Open the info on the item and look at how much space it will take up. Figure out how many total you can hold. Figure out if your seller has that much to sell you, and if your buyer will buy that much. Then figure out how much you'll make off the run. If it's worth it to you.. then go for it. Sometimes you'll just wanna do a short run so you can do it a bunch. Other times you'll want to make a huge run because the profit is massive. Whatever works for you.4 - Repeat. It takes me about 20 minutes of browsing to find a good run in the market. Sometime I'll see nothing and have to move a few jumps away to get a better perspective. Use the map if you're uncertain about the distances that runs are. Sometimes if you're a few systems from where you plan to buy something, and the system you're gonna sell in is also a few systems away, it's a good idea to see what the distance between the two is. Once you get there you can discover that a few jumps has turned into like... 10. Overall. Just be patient. Start small. Goods like Garbage and Water are cheap and small in volume. Do runs with those and you'll make about 200,000isk a trip. Once you can afford more expensive items, go for them. I'll post more later after class.

Wait till you see the 150 million isk + trade routes that can happen if you have access to a freighter. Pickup stuff on one side of the map and afk fly it through secure space while your at work. But first ya need to buy yourself a 1billion isk ship to do it, lol.
