Its funny that I was thinking the same thing... after I posted that I said to myself 'Damn, some of these guys intelligence level may be too low to have conversate like grown-ups'.

2/27/2006 12:42:01 AM
^ conversate isn't a word...that was the pointwhen you go around instulting someone's intelligence and ability to "have conversate" you should at least check your grammar.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 12:51 AM. Reason : ]
2/27/2006 12:44:07 AM
nice edit assholeI dont need your grammar lesson, im no retard, for fucks sake i pointed out your glaring flaw[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 12:53 AM. Reason : edit deez]
2/27/2006 12:52:34 AM
Whatever douche. the flaw was in the placement of the /s's. At least I'm not inventing words while insulting people's ability to converse.
2/27/2006 12:54:25 AM
i agree, i just wanted to point out it was a douche move not to mention the correct answer was"What is conversations"or is it"What are conversations"good thing we have you, to clear up any grammar struggles[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 12:56 AM. Reason : .]
2/27/2006 12:55:54 AM
Psh, too many syllables.
2/27/2006 12:57:42 AM
Often times on message boards, punctuation is used to indicate how something would be spoken, rather than to adhere to any grammatical rules. Judging by the context of Quinn's post, it was meant to indicate how it might have been spoken.
2/27/2006 1:16:59 AM
A dash would have been better- even though it's a little much for a short sentence like that.http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_overvw.html[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 1:26 AM. Reason : ]

When Quinn is giving you shit about your writing on a message board you know you must have fucked up royally.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 1:25 AM. Reason : .]
2/27/2006 1:25:06 AM
Yeah, the /s was one word too far over. Just playing with him since he was trolling, but it's really too late to be doing that without messing up myself too.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 1:29 AM. Reason : ]
2/27/2006 1:27:41 AM
Ah, that's right. You're the guy who gets in over his head then backpedals all the time.Almost forgot Anyway, you should look up the definition of a comma splice while you're looking up how to troll.
2/27/2006 1:30:23 AM
Yeah, technically he was just using a comma to seperate something other than an independant clause that was vital to the meaning of the sentence as presented. There's not really a word for it and I was feeling lazy.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 1:39 AM. Reason : ]
2/27/2006 1:37:46 AM
No, there's a term for it.It's called "improper comma use".Two out of three isn't bad, but you're really going to want to go for the hat trick as far as "spelling", "grammar", and "proper word use" go.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 1:43 AM. Reason : oh hey, nice edit there, champ]
2/27/2006 1:42:38 AM
^I like "misused" commas better.

Should you have to put quotation marks around an emoticon? That'd be a fun question to ask an english professor. The blank stare signifying a loss of faith in student-kind would almost be worth the severe physical beating to follow.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 2:25 AM. Reason : ]

haha. my uncle had his hdtv hooked up through component AND through coax, but was using the coax input to watch tv. said he didn't think hdtv was that much better than standard i straightened him out

I love to see to how jealousy makes one say things over the internet that they would not normally say to people face-to-face. Only a moron would mistake a HDTV for a 4:3 whatever whatever. I now know that. I called this morning, and they asked me the name/model# over the phone.
2/27/2006 9:51:08 AM
Just a note. I recently got the TCW HD box that has HDMI and searched through several stores for an HDMI cable that wasn't ridiculously expensive. I finally found one at Tiger Direct on Capital Blvd. 19$ I think it was.
2/27/2006 12:17:35 PM
How is it? Are you impressed? If so, I will take my cord back, since I have not opened it yet, and get that one.
2/27/2006 12:19:35 PM
they didnt give me a hard time about getting an HD box, they just had to deliver it for some reason.they didnt even look at my tv, which at the time was a giant MDF box and a projector my roomie and i had built. since then they have seen later more streamlined revisions, and one cable guy sat down and watched tv with SandSanta
2/27/2006 12:41:44 PM
I understand that they want to check to insure that you in fact have a HDTV, but no cable guy is sitting down in my apt and watching my TV.
2/27/2006 12:43:57 PM
2/27/2006 12:44:38 PM
they should make you tell them how you plan to hook it up as well. listen buddy, if you're just gonna run this hd box through coax, ill give you a plain one and you can still pay us any extra you like. we'll all be happy and the company wont be wasting its hd assets.
2/27/2006 12:59:03 PM
I totally agree with that. They should make you show them the DVI or HDMI cable, and watch you hook it up before they leave - hell, TWC should start selling HDMI cables, they would probably make a killing.
2/27/2006 1:02:21 PM
Haha yeah, the markup on those HDMI cables at the retail level is pretty huge. They wouldn't even have to jack the price up, just charge what bestbuy, circuit city, and places like "tweeter" charge and they'd make 30-40 bucks every couple of hookups.
2/27/2006 1:14:11 PM
2/27/2006 6:53:13 PM
It is not that I am not savvy, this is just the first time that I have dealt with a HDTV. This is not rocket science, you act like you needs months of experience with this stuff to know about it. It is really simple stuff, its just the fact figuring out what I would like to spend my money on. Who in the world cannot hook a cable to a box and a TV, and adjust the menu of the box and TV (if needed) to suit the needs of the cable?
2/27/2006 7:12:45 PM
how do the HD boxes deal with non-hd channels do you have the option to stretch them or keep them in 4:3. If you can stretch how does it look?
2/27/2006 7:38:37 PM
the SA 8000 stretch looks like crap because that's all they do is freaking stretch.my television's native stretch is almost indistinguishable though
2/27/2006 7:52:46 PM
^^ you do have the option.. on the SA HD boxes..the option:what ratio is your tv.. and how do you want other ratio formated..4:3 tv ratio allows for stretch(vertical stretch so if your tv does 16:9 vcompression), zoom or letterbox16:9 tv ratio allows for stretch(horizontal), pillarbox, and i believe zoom as well.V I think only TV's and high end tuner boxes do that.. I don't think any from TWC do that kind of stretch yet.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 10:06 PM. Reason : ]
2/27/2006 9:59:58 PM
Some do panoramic (has a weird fishbowl effect with SD tv) and also a "smart" screen filling so that normal tv doesn't look QUITE so stretched but still fills the screen.
2/27/2006 10:03:32 PM
Goodness, I am almost scared to post in here.Anyway my girlfriend's HDMI from her HD-DVR box no longer carries audio right.I am not sure if something worked its way loose, but I notice that the audio has been pretty bad coming from the cable box. There haven't been any problems with the video signal though.
2/28/2006 8:10:20 PM
i even had a friend the other day that his hdtv would not accect the hdmi output from the twc hd-dvr box - it was some weird message saying something like 'your tv does not support hdcp yada yada yada' the cable man said he had seen it before, but luckily the rbg cables looked really good
