pitt still has more football tradition than we do BY FAR.

we picked up a DE commitment from an in-state recruit today.http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=2603089welcome to the Pack family Sam Jones.
6/9/2006 1:37:09 AM
pretty good get. i sure hope we can hold on to chris culliver. he is the star of the class so far. clemson, florida, va tech, and bama are all after him.
6/9/2006 1:53:19 AM
Yeah I have a bad feeling about Culliver, something tells me we won't be able to hold onto him.
6/9/2006 8:43:33 AM
i think he'll go to clemson
6/9/2006 12:44:44 PM
yeah, i heard that he said clemson was showing him that they wanted him right now where State really wasnt anymore. Dont know how to take that, but whatever
6/9/2006 3:20:36 PM
Culliver didn't go visit Clemson this weekend per PackPride homepage. I hope that's a good sign that he will stay with the Pack family.
6/11/2006 10:56:50 PM
^he actually came to state for the 1 day campsaid in the article that it was b/c of rain, which would be fortuitous for usThis kid ends up at Florida in my book, just seems that kids come away from those visits enamored with the place, and he said he would be headed down there in the fallhopefully we can keep him though, but i consider him a "super SOFT" verbal
6/12/2006 10:35:13 AM

florida or ncsu for culliver.

who do you all think will be the next player to most likely commit?[Edited on June 27, 2006 at 2:10 PM. Reason : ]
6/27/2006 2:10:07 PM
DE Solomon Thomas or DB Dominique Ellis Or probably another guy nobody has really heard of before like the last few.

Pack Pride says we're in the lead for local offensive lineman Mike Golder from Apex, North Carolina.http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=2&c=541841&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2fnorthcarolinastate.scout.com%2f2%2f541841.htmlThey also said we're on the favorite list for offensive lineman Khalil Latif, 6-2, 276 pounds with 5.2-second speed in the 40-yard dash, who hails from Manchester High School in Midlothian, Virginia.http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=2&c=542216&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2fnorthcarolinastate.scout.com%2f2%2f542216.html

http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/543531.htmlinteresting situation concerning DT Gavin Smith from Wakefield. he originally verbaled to State, but decomitted and comitted to Virginia, b/c they have a great history department. well 4 of his best friends died in a car accident coming from a game, and he had some trouble keeping up with school afterwards. UVA denied him admission, so now he might be trying to come back to State. State recruited him early and he has a good relationship with Coach Stroud. well the story explains it all. this could be a good pick up for us, and hopefully a happier chapter in his life, provided our academic committee let's him in.
6/30/2006 7:34:15 PM
sucks for the kid but i would hope we wouldn't honor his 'ship. says a lot about our coaches if they do. it also says a lot about our admissions dept. if he does make it in.
7/1/2006 11:35:42 AM
what ... ? it says we dont hold someones 4 best friends dieing tragically against some one, and we're willing to observe the whole body of work and not the "what have you done for me lately"....I really hope it does say that aobut our university.

man, state dont even need no more rbs, just stop, we are loaded for years to come, go all qb we need a vick type straight hustla
7/3/2006 12:05:45 AM
^^ so he had, what, a 970?
7/3/2006 12:07:26 AM
Is Dre Brown eligible for the NFL this year? This will be his 3rd year out of High School (went to Hargrave for a prep year). But you're right, we don't really need a stud RB in a recruiting class for a couple of years.
7/3/2006 11:56:04 AM

from what it sounds like, Jamelle Eugene is gonna be bad ass for us.

any word on this Tyrod Taylor guy? (5 star QB)Last I saw, his interest list was something like:FloridaVTNCSU3 more schools
7/5/2006 1:42:11 PM
all signs point to VT for TT.
7/5/2006 2:50:41 PM
I hope he comes here, we need a break.
7/5/2006 3:54:59 PM
I think Taylor and Smith to Va. Tech
7/5/2006 7:33:41 PM
We have (had) a decent shot with SmithGive it up on Taylor. Hopefully, Smith doesn't follow him there.
7/5/2006 8:07:37 PM
Yeah a couple of weeks back I thought Smith was almost a lock for us, but I'm not sure anymore. I have a feeling he'll follow Taylor to Va. Tech.Has anyone else seen the affect Paulus is having for UNC? It's ridiculous, they have a committment from 1 5-Star WR and I've seen where another 5-Star is seriously considering them. If we could have snagged Taylor and Smith early on, I think we could be getting some more looks from some WR's.We probably have about as much chance of getting Austin(DT) as we do Taylor at this point, last I looked we were Medium on Austin and Low for Taylor.
7/5/2006 9:28:44 PM
tyrod taylor is down to vt/fla with vt holding a slight lead.alton voss seems to be our #1 qb on the board that we have a good shot at.Marvin Austin has Miami as his #1 as of 6/26/06.
7/5/2006 10:44:52 PM

WR Carlos Everett from 2006 class will be going to Hargrave in the fall (didn't get the grades) but still plans on attending NCSU as part of the 2007 class.

You are using rivals, while he is using scout.comno point in arguing, will be the same dude in light blue lining up on the other side of the ball
7/6/2006 4:46:31 PM
Oh my bad, didn't even check Scout, I tend to go by Rivals. Hopefully one of the biggest schools or ourselves can pull him away from UNC, but I highly doubt it. Maybe we can land a solid QB and get some looks.
7/6/2006 4:47:58 PM
oh shit, i didn't see rivals.Oh well, it seems that they don't have our luck with recruits. If he committed to state, he'd drop a star or two.
7/6/2006 4:54:38 PM
DB Dominique Ellis is currently meeting with our coaches to commit today. He will be #8.http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=2480573
7/11/2006 3:35:52 PM
someone photoshop a State uniform on him.
7/11/2006 3:42:10 PM
are we having a contest to see who can get the most 1 star recruits? this class is looking sad, very very sad.
7/11/2006 4:12:51 PM
Ellis is NOT a 1 star....per rivals he is a 3 star and the reason he is a 1 star on scout is because he hasnt been evaluated yet by them. He is a legit 3 star and the 3rd best DB in NC(behind Gilchrist and Culliver). Oh and by the way he ran a 3.88 shuttle time...not too shabby.
