i bet you could beat my best time dipshit. at the last autox i did (which was my second) i was on bald all season tires and had thrown on my rear sway bar a week before hand. christ almighty, never did i say i could drive & i'll actually be the first to admit that i'm pretty damn awful at it.

pax means nothing if they were fully prepped to the max the class allows and i wasnt. i was in EP, and the car wasnt even close to being competitive in that pax.and thanks for proving my opinion wrong.. i mean.. you said it was wrong, so it MUST be.

We always get hammered hard on the PAX times when we take the FSAE car to autocrosses. They give us a PAX of 1, while the highest I've seen of the other cars is like .87 or something. did none but it appearsautoX- too much cost/abuse on the car for very little speed just to get some understeer/oversteer experience. all the shit with changing/swapping tires seems too tiresome.track- the best, but major $texas unless you become fully involved with the scene, people and networking that goes with it.1/4- on par with my opinion of NASCAR= they should all be murdered in cold blood.solution: do all three on the street. it is far cheaper and only thing you have to do is fill up your gas tank and be stupid.

I'm going to talk jdchmiel into letting me borrow his turbo'd mk1 MR2. I think a 10/1 weight/hp ratio and suspension work will certainly give me an advantage.

Autox is a lot of fun. You're actually on the "edge" more often that you are on a track. On average you turn three times as much per minute than F1 drivers. It really is exciting. I did time trials and VIR this past weekend (I think I was 1st in class), and while it was undoubtadly fun, I probably have just as much fun at an autocross.This year I'll be switching between an ES Miata and an SM2 CRX. I might move the miata into STS2 later in the season... we'll see.

Auto-x threads always end up in an argument around here. They should do a triathlon where event 1 is shit-talking, event 2 is auto-x, and event 3 is kickboxing. Throw in a keg and we could just call it a meet.Drive y0 car and keep y0 mouf shut!And UnderPSI lemme hold that NSX. I got the $40 ready.

I also don't recall seeing any timing equipment near start/finish. Please do tell more...Ahmet

i have black fliks with silver lip. most big turbo kits will come with software. unless you really really want to build something from scratch.

I figured there was no way somebody would 'win' their class in an actual time trial and not know for sure...The patriot course looks like fun, but it's not what I would call "track driving". It's more like a fairly relaxed auto-x course, but with elevation changes.Also, I do agree that an auto-x throws more turns and so forth at you, but to say that it takes more precision than track driving is, well, inaccurate to say the least. Also, open lapping in an HPDE1 session is one thing, going out wheel to wheel is something else entirely.Ahmet

btw, the M3 was supar! at the test and tune on sunday. took me a bit to get used to the slower steering compared to the R32 and the RWD drift0rness, but yeh. it was awesome. it turned it and rotated very well w/ the alignment i have on it and was super composed under braking and accelerating while turning like when late braking into a slolum, etc.yeah

not all that much really. probably around 220rwhp. but i've taken a good bit of weight off of it and i'm using the NA tranny and diff ratio, which is pretty aggressive. i was going to get a boost controller, but i can't even use all the power i've got right now, so i'm going to hold off on that for a while. i think i'm going to save up for some coilovers.
