No, its more like we owned UNC untill Dean got there and cleaned up their program a couple years later. They actually won a few ACC championships before he got there, but they did it dirty, and got caught. Smith was brought in specifically to clean their program up...and even that took a few years.

However, Smith made something of the rivalry. It wasnt until the 90's when they started to really "own" us.



Oh....and for 2 years already this century (there have only been 5 so far), we went undefeated against you faggots....4 game win streak. We're on a 5 game losing streak right now, and really only 1 of them has been a blowout...at UNC to the national championship team.

Not exactly a National championship, just a "we're the champions because our alumni said so" trophy. That's why the banner that hangs in the Dean Smith Center has the UNC logo on it....

Not saying Dean Smith in particular, just the UNC program. Dean Smith seems to be pretty nice. I think he just has been put on too much of a pedestal. I don't have a hatred for him that I do for other aspects of Walmart Nation.

hey i'll give Dean props. he ran his program pretty clean from what i saw, growing up watching ACC basketball. he was a great coach, and i even recently bought "The Carolina Way" by Dean Smith for my brother who has been a Carolina fans since I can remember. the one thing that gets State fans mad is how UNC claims the 1927 National Championship, when no reputable sports media recognizes it. if they want to put up a banner for winning the 1927 Helms Trophy, then be my guest. i have no qualms with that. the same way we are still proud of our Dixie Classic Championship banners. but to put it along side those other national championship banners is arrogance and disrespects the players and coaches that won those real championships.

The tarholes' 1924 "championship" was awarded 20 years after the fact by some unknown now defunct group called the Helms Foundation.

It is not a recognizable title, and yet carolina parades it around like it is an actual championship.

For a school that is supposedly the best at everything (their alumni, wal-mart and non wal-mart variety, trumpet this around as if it were their birth right), they sure do have a major inferiority complex. People that have to associate with a traditional winner to boost their self esteem that they lack from being stupid, having a small penis, etc. are the foundation of everything unc-brokeback hill.

ECU is a good rival, but I think that one is more sports related. The UNC/State rivalry goes much deeper, and its a hatred, not a dislike.

hah the last time i was at carolina i was talking to this girls friends and one of them asked me what i studied. i replied, "oh and i don't go here, i'm at state." she just replied with a very short "oh" then asked what i studied. when i told her mechanical engineering the short "oh" turned into "ooooohhhhh ok, so you're really smart then."

^haha yeah, when i went over there one time to visit a high school friend, she and i saw two girls that went to high school with us. one was a double major in journalism and psychology and the other was a double major in international affairs and business administration or something. it was just funny to see there faces when i was like yeah i'm a double major in Microbiology and Biochemistry and minor in Genetics. then after that i gave them another shocker, that i was going to get it all in 4.5 years. their jaws hit the floor. yeah i got the same kind of response that JonHGuth got when i told some of her other friends at UNC that i went to State. their first look was the kind that you know that you are being looked down upon, then i told them my story, and that look turned to one of disbelief. i asked one guy what he was majoring in. he was like "Business Administration." then i asked him how long it'd take him, and he replied in a low voice, "5 years."
