2Hopefully Fells will step up like he did against F$U[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 2:42 PM. Reason : []

I hate to see him out for that long but if I had my choice I'd rather be without Ilian this year than Bethel last year.
2/16/2006 2:42:50 PM
whether or not you guys like him as a player, we're going to be helped by his depth. at least if he's available we can take him out if he isn't performing. there have been games this season where he lifted us to victory (both double overtimes we've been in??). Hope for a speedy recovery for our BULGARIAN SENSATION!
2/16/2006 2:46:17 PM
I hope he gets well soon and back into the lineup ASAP, because we doo need him.^ the problem is that he doesnt usually get taken out when he is under performing.

When it comes to Evtimov the old adage applies."No news is good news"As in "no news of his expected return is good news".[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 3:35 PM. Reason : a]

you people that are down on evtimov are ridiculous. he is the best guy we have at making those backdoor passes. he is quick off the dribble, which is great for the matchups other teams generally give him. he is money from behind the arc, and have the best mind for the game of all our players. he has some quiet statistical nights, but there are VERY few games where he hurts more than he helps. He's got all the intangibles, things you can't really keep track of. How many times does he make great passes that set up the assists? He is definitely one of our most important players, and I don't think we can beat UNC without him unless everyone else on the team steps their game up.
2/16/2006 3:39:13 PM
I really think we should rest him as much as possible. We should beat VT without him. Against UNC we should see how we play without him too. We must have him ready to go for the ACC and NCAA tounaments.[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 3:42 PM. Reason : .]
2/16/2006 3:41:42 PM
I dont care if he scores 10 points and gets 4 assists if he gives up 25 points on the other end.I have seen him flop at least 100 times over the past five years which resulted in an easy basket or putback because he was on the floor instead of getting the rebound. He is an atrocious defender. There is no other word for it.So you think he would have played well against UNC, huh?Thats funny, because he sucked the other 7 times he played Carolina.
2/16/2006 3:41:54 PM
the only thing funny is you attempting to evaluate this team and its coachlaughable is the term i would use.but youre right, no other big men in the country flop ever. I mean ive only EVER seen a flop and an easy basket when evtimov is the one flopping
2/16/2006 3:46:32 PM
if he played for duke thay'd call him battier v2.0[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 3:48 PM. Reason : ]

You're right, it is completely natural to fall to the ground everytime any contact is made.My mistake. What is laughable? The fact that I can recognize when a player sucks and you can't?[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 3:54 PM. Reason : a]
2/16/2006 3:53:37 PM
oh come on rally, he definitely has the best acting skills of anyone on the team..
2/16/2006 3:54:56 PM
Rally do you have anything positive to say about our team or players ever?? Seems like you always have to criticize regardless of how the team or a player is doing.
2/16/2006 4:44:52 PM
If we had a player better than Evtimov, then Shoosh would be on the bench.
2/16/2006 4:45:59 PM
^agreed. i trust in herb's ability to choose which players to give PT to. look at what he's done with bennerman.

Is Brandon Costner ready to step in yet, cause damn we really need him now[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 4:59 PM. Reason : l]
2/16/2006 4:59:42 PM
he is probably healthy enough to play, but we lose a whole year of eligibility from him if he comes back at this point. with evtimov's injury, we may have no other choice, but if fells can step up and be a solid player we may not need to bring in costner.personally, i'd rather keep costner's eligibility to play 4 full years, especially with wright coming in 2 years. but if evtimov is out for the remainder of the year, we may have no other choice
2/16/2006 5:02:52 PM
That would be a good switch IMOI say bring him in
2/16/2006 5:39:49 PM
costner appears to have a ton of potential. do you really want to sacrifice an entire year of that so that he can come play 5 minutes a game for a few games?he can still practice with the team and develop his game that way, and use the offseason to add muscle and come back next year and play a major role for us. imagine 4 years of that vs 3.personally i don't think the tradeoff is worth it for the few games we have left. if someone else goes down to injury, then we don't have much choice, but right now i saw make it happen with fells and mccauly and leave costner on the bench to save his redshirt.

A deadly 3-point shooter, excellent passer and perhaps NC State's best off-the-ball defender, Evtimov is certainly an integral part of the Wolfpack's success. The native of Bulgaria is averaging 11.5 points and four rebounds per game, while also shooting 43 percent from the 3-point arc. so shut the F up about him not being good at defense.
2/16/2006 10:01:25 PM
^ very true
2/16/2006 10:07:01 PM
if you guys are serious about not wanting a double digit scorer/assist man on the team then you are an idiotI mean have you even considered who would start in his place?
2/16/2006 10:15:15 PM
You got to admit those hook shots are embarrassing. He can shoot the lights out, but I just don't like him. Hopefully Fells can finally get some PT. Anyone remember the APP game? He took three shots, hit two threes, dunk at the buzzer, and a nasty block. He would definitely be a step up in athleticism.
2/16/2006 10:16:35 PM
I personally cant wait till 2 years from now when Ced is a senior, Ben and Courtney are juniors, and we get a point guard. If Chris Wright can come in and be decent as a true point guard his freshman year we could be SICK.
2/16/2006 10:17:36 PM
I agree to bench him against VT as much as we can. We need teh Evtimov.[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 10:24 PM. Reason : .]

http://espn.go.com/nfl/columns/clayton_john/1218844.htmlThis is an old article about injuries in the NFL. Look to the middle of the article for the story on Duce Staley of the Eagles now with the Steelers and his Lisfranc injury...not looking good for #3[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 11:10 PM. Reason : dsfg]
2/16/2006 11:09:02 PM
^ Heard the same thing about the Eagles Brian Dawkins. He injured his Lisfranc ligament and missed most of 2003.
2/17/2006 12:40:17 PM
fells needs to get at least 10 minutes against VT. i'd like to see 15 even. we have to see if he can step up and be a factor, because if he can't do it every game then maybe we actually will have to bring back costner if evtimov is done. that would be unfortunate.
2/17/2006 12:53:01 PM
Actually, real minutes for McCauley would be the best to fill in for Ev.
2/17/2006 12:56:26 PM
yeah, but we already know ben can be productive. i'm not worried so much about replacing evtimov as i am having an effective rotation of guys. i'm already assuming ben will step up and be a factor. in addition to that, we're going to need some solid minutes out of fells.
2/17/2006 1:02:40 PM
^Yeah I think Ben can and will be a good player for us. He has a good feel for the offense. He should be playing more. Some people around me at the games are like why is he in?
2/17/2006 1:12:37 PM
that's because most of our fans are idiots
2/17/2006 1:21:35 PM
So, any opinions on who starts in his place? Does VT have a big lineup this year? Brack or Grant?
2/17/2006 2:28:24 PM
I wonder if he'll travel with the team?
2/17/2006 2:36:59 PM
i would think he would
2/17/2006 2:37:56 PM
the thought of grant in the starting lineup for us makes me cringe. but, we need brackman to help keep simmons out of foul trouble and we can't start ben, so it may have to be grant.
2/17/2006 2:44:15 PM
^ Agreed. Unfortunately, I'm twitching just at the thought of Grant starting. I'll probably have a full-blown seizure if it actually happens.
2/17/2006 11:37:54 PM
Grant played very well against Carolina last year. You know Grant isnt a smart cat. But he's a fucking player. Evtimov is soemwhat smart. But he is not a fucking player. When it comes down to it, I want a fucking player out there when we play Carolina.I'm sick of losing to these guys because we run guys who arent fucking players up against them.
2/18/2006 1:51:21 PM
yeah our second half defense was awesome without evtimov today. i'm so glad he's hurt
2/19/2006 2:13:35 AM
ya cuz it woulda been much different w/ evty in there
2/19/2006 2:17:49 AM
how can you say it wouldn't have been?it's been mentioned several times now that he calls out what the offense is running to help the defense get set. plus, he can play D. herb wouldn't let him see the court if he couldn't.
2/19/2006 2:19:32 AM
Ev learns the offense and does the scouting reports almost himself...hes smart as piss when it comes to defense, the little things he does are what make our defense against big teams so good...he was missed today it was evident by the amount of points in the paint. Evitmov stops the player from drivin and allows Ced to block the shot, without Ev our defense is no where near as good.
2/19/2006 2:25:37 AM
If Evtimov is so fucking smart then he can call out plays from the sidelines like an assistant coach. We dont lose anything by having him out. Whatever we possibly lose on offense we make up for 2x over on defense.Without Evtimov we went out there and stomped VT on the road. Give me a break about this guy...
2/19/2006 6:34:33 PM
stomped by 6suggesting that less depth heading into march is somehow a good thing is silly
2/19/2006 6:36:20 PM
VT wouldn't have gotten as close if Evtimov was out there
^^ yes, i agree that having less depth is a bad thing. If we were using Evtimov correctly (basing his minutes per game on the opponent) then Id be concerned about our loss of depth. But since we can trust Herb to use Evtimov in +EV quantities, I think we're no better or worse off without him really. It will also make watching the games a little less stressful I think, and it wont give our team a scapegoat for all our problems. Losing Evtimov, will make everyone more accountable in the long run. We can't just blame every loss on his inability to guard anyone.
