So how much is the fine for getting a ticket for jaywalking?
2/15/2006 6:42:17 PM
i heard its your first born.
2/15/2006 6:43:46 PM
110 for court cost and a 10 fine, i think
2/15/2006 6:47:40 PM
They should enforce it in high volume areas honestly. It's not only dangerous for the pedestrians but dumbass drivers who don't pay attention. Also, some places they HAVE to enforce it; in places like NYC or Chicago considering that if you walk across the street you'll get killed.I look at it as a law to save dumbasses from themselves and from me. Personally, I wouldn't want to have someone endanger myself because some dumb shit is careless and doesn't look before walking out in front of me. Hopefully, some sort of enforcement on this makes the idiots at the very least think twice before acting like a fool..[Edited on February 15, 2006 at 7:07 PM. Reason : f]

2/16/2006 12:36:39 PM
on what streets were the unc people run over?
2/16/2006 12:52:31 PM
i saw this asian girl look at the light across from the library one day, saw it was green, saw oncoming traffic, and she decided to hop out and take a leisurely stroll into the street. needless to say, she nearly got clipped by one of the cars and for some reason turned around and yelled like it was their fault. in my opinion, theres too many damn people popping out from behind parked cars and shit, gets sketchy to drive around campus without having to be on the lookout for jaywalkers. i mean, i did that shit when i was in school, but id never come close to any oncoming traffic.i dont see the need to ticket, but some fucking students need to be careful...especially those who decide to cross halfway, stand on the double yellow line, and wait for the other side of the road to clear.
2/16/2006 1:03:49 PM
hooray for rules that only get enforced/made when death is involved.way to make yourselves look good, authorities!
2/16/2006 1:36:44 PM
there are so many people crossing with their ipods and cell phones and drivers on cell phones that cause a lot of problems
2/16/2006 1:40:14 PM
this is nothing natural selection can't handle.
2/16/2006 1:47:14 PM
this is so fucking stupidif i can cross the road at a 90 angle and not hold up traffic, then i shouldnt have to worry about getting a ticket for iti hope they dont decide to bring this down to dan allen, they would be busy writing so many ticketsthe NPO would be uselessone step close to Adolf Stafford taking control as nazi dictator
2/16/2006 4:03:16 PM
i think the police should make a judgement callif the person jaywalking does it when there are no cars in sight = no ticketif the person slowly walks through the street while cars are flying by = ticketif you dont want a ticket and still want to jaywalk just make sure there arent any cops walking near you
2/16/2006 5:29:21 PM
This is great, it's about fucking time. Some people may know to look out for cars, but then there are those idiots who think that all the cars will stop for them, which is true, IF THEY SEE THEM! You have to remember that sometimes drivers are looking away for a second, and if they didn't see you step in the road, you're dead. I have definatly nearly killed someone not looking before. The other day i was stopped at a stoplight and it turned green, i was about to go, but then saw somene start walking across, if i just went, like so many people do, i would have hit her. This is totually right because poeple don't stop for cars, which is fucking annoying. If you're in sucd a fucking hurry, won't you get out earlier. Hillsborough is so dangerous, i don't even take it if i don't have, i usually go the back way.Oh, and the roundabout would be great, if people knew how to fucking use it! Yeild does NOT mean stop, people!
2/16/2006 6:41:37 PM
ok if you think giving people tickets >100 bucks for crossing the street is a good thing, you are a fucking moron.99.99 percent of the time when someone crosses the street they are fine. adding a fear of a ticket to the fear of DEATH is NOT going to significantly cut down on pedestrian deaths. ]
2/16/2006 7:04:27 PM
i would turn it into a foot pursuit. cop starts to approach me for jay walking best believe it will be jay running in no time.
2/16/2006 8:25:01 PM
If people would use common sense we'd be ok. For example - if you see traffic coming and you don't have the right to cross, don't just jump out in front of them and hope they'll stop - if you get run over then that's Darwinism at work. Treat NCSU streets like normal (City of Raleigh) streets and we'll be okay.Attn little NCSU Crew prick who crossed against traffic AND the light last week and had a guy in a green truck honk at you and flick you off: He honked and flipped you off because you fucked up. Next time you jump in front of me I'm going to pretend like I don't see you until the last minute. Stay the fuck on the corner if you don't have the right of way, retard.[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 8:37 PM. Reason : .]

they also need to take hb street down to one lane in each direction. it should be a destination, and not a way to get somewhere else.

Last I heard, H-Boro St. was the most dangerous st. for pedestrians in NC.

typically on campus (like between western and hills) people will more or less stop the students just about anywhere, all the time. i know i do when i drive through campus....like, if i see someone on the curb looking to cross i'll stop.i mean, it's campus. everyone is walking...especially on dan allen down near witherspoon and bragaw.
