bloodlust
2/13/2006 11:45:03 AM
why would cheney get tired of killing things? it's the point of his career
2/13/2006 11:47:25 AM
OMG, MrT, I wanted to say bloodlust too, but I didn't know to spell or punctuate it.Do you guys think that Cheney's PR people frowned upon him engaging in this "sport"? Or did they not even consider the fact that it might offend people?[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 11:52 AM. Reason : sss]
2/13/2006 11:51:45 AM
Since when does Cheney care about offending other people?
2/13/2006 12:00:11 PM
yeah that doesn't make much sense, bridgetkerry had photos of himself hunting as part of his campaign, to prove that he wasn't anti-second amendment.
2/13/2006 12:03:49 PM
2/13/2006 12:05:57 PM
Yes, but this particular type of hunting is looked down upon in some portions of the hunting community. It also appears to be a form of hunting that only the very wealthy have access to.Why not have him go out on a "real" hunt?
2/13/2006 12:10:48 PM
middle america loves to see extravagent displays of wealth and douchebaggery by their leaders obviously
2/13/2006 12:11:47 PM
well if the guy didnt get shot the only details we would see are pictures of cheney huntingother than a few bloggers the details would probably be ignored or at best forgotten
2/13/2006 12:11:56 PM
By the way, while these responses are very delicate, y'all must think I'm super stupid:
2/13/2006 12:25:35 PM
AHAHAAHthere is a press conference no this right now. wow.
2/13/2006 12:39:23 PM
It looks like there was an attempted cover up during the first 12 hrs.
2/13/2006 12:42:42 PM
i have grown weary from my unending anger directed towards this administration
2/13/2006 12:44:38 PM
The bitches wife was the one who told the media bc Cheney's people werent gonna say shit. Thats funny.
2/13/2006 12:45:53 PM
The lameness of this style of hunting isn't fully conveyed in that description. The birds don't even move around after they've been placed in the field. They stay there until the dogs scare them out. It's essentially just skeet shooting for rich assholes.
2/13/2006 12:58:13 PM
haha you have empathy for birds with the central nervous system of highly developed plants
2/13/2006 1:13:03 PM
What's funny about moral development? And, I'm not sure if anybody has a lot of empathy for the birds. It's just pussy to do em like that.[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 1:17 PM. Reason : sss]
2/13/2006 1:16:59 PM
It's not that he's killing living things, it's that he gets his jollies by killing living things en masse for no end other than the satisfaction he recieves from killing them. That's a whole lot different than shooting a deer in the wild, whouldn't you say?
2/13/2006 1:23:43 PM
i want to see the plant thats as develpoed as a pheasant[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 1:29 PM. Reason : so i can put it in a barrel and shoot it ]

2/13/2006 2:05:51 PM
I think you mean Two Face
2/13/2006 2:07:31 PM
nah, i meant clayfacethe skin won't be disfigured (like two-face), it will just kinda be mushy (like clayface)i had a piece of shot removed from my arm (much larger than what he got caught with) and the hole is still noticable, you can tell i had something removed, but it isn't disgifured or anything
2/13/2006 2:09:23 PM
even a faux news guy was molesting scott. funny.

Mary Matalin told the WaPo: "The vice president was concerned. He felt badly, obviously. On the other hand, he was not careless or incautious or violate any of the [rules]. He didn't do anything he wasn't supposed to do." ...read on"I don't think he was supposed to shoot a man, but that's just me.(reader Ces) sent me the "Shooting safety Rules," KNOW YOUR SAFE ZONE OF FIRE AND STICK TO IT.Your safe zone-of-fire is that area or direction in which you can safely fire a shot. It is "down range" at a shooting facility. In the field it is that mental image you draw in your mind with every step you take. BE SURE YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR COMPANIONS ARE AT ALL TIMES. Never swing your gun or bow out of your safe zone-of-fire. Know the safe carries when there are persons to your sides, in front of, or behind you. IF IN DOUBT, NEVER TAKE A SHOT. When hunting, wear daylight fluorescent orange so you can be seen from a distance or in heavy cover. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/02/13.html#a7137they're even lying about this. jesus.

^ This is a microcosm for the administration's handling of post-"victory" Iraq.He feels bad that bad things happened, but it's certainly not his fault.[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 2:42 PM. Reason : .]

2/13/2006 2:57:49 PM
the last story I saw said what you posted ^^, but before all of this happened, cheney was about to fire, the birds were flushed, and he spun around and fired without waiting, and he hit the guy because he had shown up unannounced.

Tex. Penal Code § 6.03© A person acts recklessly, or is reckless, with respect to circumstances surrounding his conduct or the result of his conduct when he is aware of but consciously disregards a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the circumstances exist or the result will occur. The risk must be of such a nature and degree that its disregard constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that an ordinary person would exercise under all the circumstances as viewed from the actor's standpoint.(d) A person acts with criminal negligence, or is criminally negligent, with respect to circumstances surrounding his conduct or the result of his conduct when he ought to be aware of a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the circumstances exist or the result will occur. The risk must be of such a nature and degree that the failure to perceive it constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that an ordinary person would exercise under all the circumstances as viewed from the actor's standpoint."Translation, according to Lewis v. State and Moore v. State:Quote :""Reckless conduct . . . involves conscious risk creation, that is, the actor is aware of the risk surrounding his conduct or the results thereof, but consciously disregards that risk. Criminal negligence . . . involves inattentive risk creation, that is, the actor ought to be aware of the risk surrounding his conduct or the results thereof. At the heart of reckless conduct is conscious disregard of the risk created by the actor's conduct; the key to criminal negligence is found in the failure of the actor to perceive the risk.""

nobody gets between dick cheney and killingeven if he has to kill you
2/13/2006 3:04:03 PM
I'm not saying that Cheney isn't at fault. But fuck it, I'm not going to expend anymore energy defending Dick Cheney.Hunting Safety 1011) The shooter is responsible for knowing the locations of all his hunting partners 100% of the time.2) Don't sneak up between hunters and targets.3) Duck, nigga.
2/13/2006 3:09:23 PM
^^ahahh
2/13/2006 3:22:07 PM
I do wonder how many times this has happened before.
2/13/2006 5:35:27 PM
I'm telling you right now - Cheney was lit up like a christmas tree when he shot that guy. They were probably shooting skeet with the empties when this went down.
2/13/2006 5:53:07 PM
heres a before pic... can someone find a after??!
2/13/2006 6:31:26 PM
2/13/2006 6:33:18 PM
Here's another safety rule:Don't shoot people.
2/13/2006 6:34:53 PM
man i usually despise cheney, but i gotta say people are making way too big of a deal out of this...looking for any excuse they can to attack the guy. it was an accident. CNN is like "omg why did we have to wait over 24 hours to find out about this??!!" ...but i think the only significance of it is the comedic value.
2/13/2006 7:14:25 PM
our VP shoots a man....and its ONLY of comedic value?wtf
2/13/2006 7:22:07 PM
that was my initial feeling, yeah....the guy isn't pressing charges, they weren't real bullets, it was an accident.now if he was doing something really irresponsible or somehow illegal, that would cause some concern. i don't know hunting protocol and haven't read the whole thread, so i don't know for sure. but i don't think it's a big deal that we didn't find out about this until a day later.
2/13/2006 7:30:39 PM
I enjoyed a bit of schadenfreude when I first heard about the accident. The shooting itself is no big deal. But, man, the "sport" they enjoy sure is pathetic. I've never heard of people engaging in hunting like this and gives me more reason to despise Cheney and his ilk.
2/13/2006 7:57:40 PM
apparently cheney once killed over 70 doves on one hunting trip, an extremely irresponsible act. hes trigger happy.
2/13/2006 8:18:02 PM
the way the old man "hunts" isn't really hunting anyway. Might as well just go shoot at a clay range if all you care about is shooting a target that is set up for you.
2/13/2006 8:23:39 PM
This is comedic/campaign gold, of course. But did you just call hunting a sport? I ask because in most sports the two competing sides are actually aware of the game being played. From the Smoking Gun (literally, hehe): http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0213061cheney1.html
2/13/2006 8:34:11 PM
he didnt even have the proper stamp/permit thingy and got a warning? uh oh
