since when? the 228 is the 9mm version of the 229
2/11/2006 1:41:34 PM
ok so after some research the no longer call it a 228. they now call it a 9mm p229. my 228 is 9m and i have bbls for both in my 229. i gues sig doenst make a std 228 any more
2/11/2006 1:44:37 PM
The 228 and 229 are two different guns. The 228 has a stamped slide, the 229's is machined.

no matter what you call it, its still a Sig
2/11/2006 11:47:00 PM
mmmmmmsig
2/11/2006 11:49:19 PM
How can you not like Sigs?
2/12/2006 2:17:06 AM
They have fat grips where the decocker is, they have a ton of slack in SA, and the frontstrap is slick as snot.Having said that, I love my 228
2/12/2006 3:17:32 AM
I don't really dislike Sigs, I just like USPs better.

what's the cheapest somewhat-reliable .45 i could buy?i'm moving to the west coast and am thinking about camping across the country on the way and just want a gun to shoot bears in the face with. i will probably just throw it away when i get to seattle so i want something cheap.

well, depends on what kind of bears we're talking about, here.and yeah, if it came down to it, i'd pump as many .45 ACP rounds into a grizzly as I could...it might not stop him, but if he was gonna eat you anyway, well, it's worth a shot.funny story about shooting a Beretta...when I was qualifying with it in the USMC, I shot pretty well through the practice rounds, but nothing totally stellar (usually like 350-355 out of 400 possible points)...definitely not like I could've done had I been using my P226. Well, qualification day comes, and it's like 17 degrees outside (outdoor range). I actually shot better that day than any day before (shot like 385 out of a possible 400 points).I don't know if I just had a good day, or if I do better under pressure (likely, I think), or if not being able to feel that damned trigger due to completely numb fingers was actually an advantage.[Edited on February 12, 2006 at 6:05 PM. Yeah, I like the way they fit my hand. I just don't like the trigger (although it's not bad as far as DAO goes)
2/12/2006 6:10:22 PM
What....the trigger is the best part of a Glock
2/12/2006 6:12:11 PM
The pull is good, but I hate trigger safeties. Makes it feel like a toy

for a bear gun / camping gun, go get a 870 home defender model with the min legal barrel. MUCH mreo liekly to make a bear leave this plane of existance, plus less crap with states with extreme handgun laws.

^^ If you order a firearm from a website (or otherwise do not buy in person), you need to have it shipped to an FFL. There will be a transfer fee involved.Exception: You have a C&R FFL, and the firearm is C&R eligible. Blackpowder firearms I also believe are exempt (but I'm not sure).[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 1:38 PM. Reason : n]

c&r permit holders may sell off excess guns, as they are allowed to purchase mroe than once of an item, select 1, and trade or resell those that do nto fit with the colection. they do nto clearly define how many guns may be disposed of to not cr holders before you need to move to a full ffl.
