I just called and Crabtree is open today, wish I wouldn't have eaten those 2 donuts now. So who is in?
2/3/2006 11:22:27 AM
according to http://www.trianglemtb.com , crabtrtee is open today, so I'll be there
2/3/2006 11:29:30 AM
I'm up for going Saturday, AND Sunday anytime, though I'd prefer to get out by 1:30. Anyway, about today, are we doing this or what?Ahmet
2/3/2006 11:30:48 AM
Dan digital and I are thinking about getting over there around 3-330ish. I suppose we could blast through there and then come back out and meet you guys if you like. Ya'll know how to get off on Harrison, come down weston, take a right on Old Reedy Creek and enter in over there right?
2/3/2006 11:32:10 AM
Ahmet, I will be at crabtree around 4:20ish, no later than 4:30.[Edited on February 3, 2006 at 11:48 AM. Reason : -]
2/3/2006 11:44:18 AM
^^^ What's this about getting off on Harrison? Is there another entrance?[Edited on February 3, 2006 at 11:47 AM. Reason : ]
2/3/2006 11:45:44 AM
Yes. The entrance you have probably always used is to take aviation into official (or signed, I suppose) entrance. You can also get off on Harrison, take a left (right goes to Umstead), take the third stoplight to the right (thats Weston Pkwy), then go like 1 mile and take a right onto Old Reedy Creek Rd. Then go down the hill, across the bridge, and on your left will be a fenced entrance overlooking the lake. From here you can take the paved road which is part of the greenway that runs back behind N. Cary Park all the way over to Dynasty intersects Harrison. or you can take a right down the gravel path, through the next gate into the other entrance to the crabtree trails. or you can ride up the road to enter rocky road. or you can bypass this and enter into umstead. as you can see, a vastly superior entrance to the aviation one.(damn shift key is broke)
2/3/2006 12:34:23 PM
I'll try to make it out still, I'll post an update no later than 3:20 indicating my current status.I'll be driving my hot white Volvo 740 turbo wagon, and have a blue Raleigh Ram 3.0 (just like Chris' posted earlier). Anyway, you got a tire pump?Ahmet
2/3/2006 12:35:48 PM
I'm in a Pewter Jeep Grand Laredo with bike rack on back.I guess if Dan is cool with it then we'll try to come back out to the Reedy Creek entrance around 4:20 and see if you guys or there. Or, if you guys are going to be at the Aviation entrance we can try and swing by there. But if the trails are dry enough were gonna want to go play around on RR a little.
2/3/2006 1:02:21 PM

2/3/2006 11:59:51 PM
as long as the weather holdswhich it doesn't look good[Edited on February 4, 2006 at 12:54 AM. Reason : ]
2/4/2006 12:52:49 AM
Well, Beaver Dam and Harris were closed yesterday, it looks a little wet outside to me so I doubt those are open today...I imagine Crabtree will be closed too. So we'll have to wait for another good opportunity to ride.Edit : Yes, considerably raining here in Holly Springs. Look like a gym/couch day. Summer needs to hurry up.[Edited on February 4, 2006 at 9:38 AM. Reason : x]

2/4/2006 10:27:56 AM
So, when are you bitches up for it again?Ahmet
2/6/2006 12:01:05 AM
i probably shouldnt say this on tww, but...yesterday i made a sweet jump in front of my house and it was fun as crap. i'm ready for the ramp at Harris now..
2/6/2006 8:25:46 AM
I suspect Crabtree won't open until Wednesday but perhaps with a lot of sun today it might be ready to go by tomorrow. That said, I'm interested to ride a lot of Rocky Road as I haven't done it in awhile, and I'd rather wait a couple days for it to dry out more because those climbs are bad enough as it is without the roots and rocks being slick. So, for me, Wed. or Th. is the next time I'll be looking to ride. I need to get some warm stuff first anyway since it is cold as balls this week.
2/6/2006 1:01:09 PM
i'm probably out untill next monday for a longer ride, but id like to do harris and beaver dam again. me and PJ might go to clayton where they have some jumps and stuff this week to see how that workscrabtree sucks rocky road is ok, but seems more technical than fast/flowy. how much more is there that i havent seen, chance?
2/6/2006 1:13:10 PM
Well, that is precisely why I want to get out there and ride more of it to see what there is to offer. I do remember some sections that start to approach Beaver Dam 'flowiness', but it has been awhile since I have been out there, though generally overall it is more technical than BD/LC, I can make that statment. The fact that it is 2 minutes away from us gets it big points over BD during the week, at least until our days are longer.
2/6/2006 1:30:31 PM
Tomorrow?
2/9/2006 11:21:37 AM
not i for i'll be on my way to VI ARRRRRRRRRRR
2/9/2006 12:58:39 PM
Scheiße VIR
2/9/2006 1:40:00 PM
Probably gonna ride Harris tomorrow around 1-2...or if anyone wants to ride rocky road id be up for that too.
2/9/2006 7:52:41 PM
You people need to hit up VIR next weekend, I'll be there running in the advanced group w/open passing, and can give (almost) anybody who wants a ride, a few hot laps. Should be a hoot.Ahmet
2/10/2006 11:43:30 AM
any of you guys have an extra saddle for sale? Preferably a comfy one? My stock saddle sucks
2/10/2006 6:09:56 PM
So, anybody up for doing some trails this Thursday (that's tomorrow). I'm free after 1:15pm. I will probably go, even if nobody else does...Ahmet
2/15/2006 3:51:06 PM
Dan and I talked about it yesterday and he said he was up for today or tomorrow. Since I came doen with some freakish flu yesterday (that is basically gone today) I told him we'd probably need to wait until Th. So....I sent him an email this morning about riding but he never replied, and he isn't at his desk now, so I'm not sure what's up.I plan to ride tomorrow but it would need to be around 3ish. I'll probably take off work early Friday if anyone wants to ride Harris or even Beaver Dam.
2/15/2006 4:10:11 PM
I am up for riding whenever tomorrow after 1:15. Friday I'm available until 1pm and after 3:45ish. Refresh my memory again, were you the fastest guy from the last ride? Anyway, lets go at least tomorrow...Ahmet
2/15/2006 6:13:41 PM
i cant go, im too busy at work right now. (i was in the lab all day)
2/15/2006 6:30:29 PM
So, who else is up for it?Ahmet
2/15/2006 11:05:34 PM
i've decided i don't care about anyone elses bike but my own. so i refuse to contribute to this thread.
2/16/2006 12:08:02 AM
You don't care about anybody else's bike, so you won't come biking tomorrow?Ahmet
2/16/2006 12:32:44 AM
My coworker and I are going to meet at the Crabtree entrance at 3:30 for a jaunt through Crabtree most likely. I'm still getting over this cold a little and will probably start feeling it immediately in my lungs, so I'm not going to mess with Rocky Road today.
2/16/2006 10:36:21 AM
you know, mtb is where its at but i'm feeling road today...so if anyone is interested, meet at the belltower at 2. easy 2 hour, moderate pace
2/16/2006 11:11:07 AM
So, today, anyone?Ahmet
2/17/2006 12:38:28 PM
Heh, I ended up getting waayyyy more of Rocky Road than I bargained for yesterday (after doing 6 miles at Craptree).
2/17/2006 12:43:40 PM
I'm about to head out, and get lost at crabtree, there's no way i can find my way around that place...Ahmet
2/17/2006 3:26:27 PM
i hope this sun stays out till about 6:30 againi put the road bike on the road last night for the first ride in such a long long timeand i look forward to doing so again today
2/17/2006 3:49:35 PM
me and PJ did umstead day before yesterday for exercise and RR yesterday. RR is tough man. it pretty much kicked our butts
2/18/2006 9:27:07 AM
Probably was because your muscles weren't fresh up for RR. You gotta be in the right frame of mind to tackle most of the stuff out there unless you are just in sick shape and your skill is enough that the obstacles out there are second nature. The more I ride it the more I am able to just blast over things that before I would slow down for and already have it in the back of my mind that I was going to have to bail. More and more every day I learn that when in doubt, just attack with speed and handle the consequences as they happen.
2/20/2006 1:47:20 PM
Anyone up for braving the cold?
2/26/2006 3:11:26 PM
i'm down for a ride today...
2/26/2006 4:30:55 PM
I don't have full finger gloves and by the end of the ride it felt like someone had taken a few whacks on my thumbs with a hammer.
2/26/2006 5:44:13 PM
Wow. Yeah, I'm up in the mountains atm... and I wish I had my bike with me. Even though it's wickedly cold out here, I really want to tackle some of these trails. (I may not go as fast, but it's still a hell of a lot of fun! )
