http://www.driversstrikeback.org/they have a "tip calculator" on there. just using 20 bucks as a constant...tip amountif its warm or balmy: $3if its cold, frigid or sweltering: add $1for any weather event: add $1 perif its more than 3.6 miles but less than 6 miles: add $.75if its over 6.7 miles: add $1.50if its early: add .50if its very early: add $1.00and of course it doesnt go down for LATE or VERY LATE. cause its not their fault i guess, but they should be rewarded if the kitchen cranks it out early. wow.

as a driver i say 2-3 is fair on most orders. anything under 1 is insulting.
1/26/2006 10:53:05 AM
i probably would never tip less than 3, just because i usually never order delivery if its under 20 bucks worth of food. but man i cant get over these people whining and saying they are trapped in this hell of a job and bla bla... when i know they gotta be making like 10+ an hour. thats better than any fast food place hahaha
1/26/2006 10:59:23 AM
if you arent making 10 an hour, you are having a really shitty day...but you still need to pay for gas. but you wouldnt believe how many people stiff drivers. Id say about 40% are either stiffs, or the bullshit..."that will be 13.89." "heres $14, you can keep the change."
1/26/2006 11:02:51 AM
oh i believe there are assholes. but at any rate, after gas, on normal day, how much more do you make than you would if you were working at bojangles? hahahahttp://tipthepizzaguy.com/compare/for waiter:

i love how people apply to be a delivery guy - then bitch about things like this - why did you apply in the first place you fucking retard - take your crx elsewhere[Edited on January 26, 2006 at 11:14 AM. Reason : i also like the idea of using the primary method of transportation to deliver in]
1/26/2006 11:13:34 AM
hahaha this is what the mod of that board says
1/26/2006 11:45:23 AM
I got jewed by Domino's lastnightthe guy came, I had already added in a tip online, and he was like "well they haven't added it in yet"but obviously they hadso I think I ended up giving him like a 6 dollar tip instead of 3 dollarshe didn't deserve it - especially since he tricked me into itI should call them up
1/26/2006 11:55:09 AM
man fuck that, call and get him fired for even hinting that you hadnt tipped him yet.
1/26/2006 11:59:09 AM
Anyone tip at places like I  NY PIZZA or coffee shops that have a tip jar?I used to but then realized that is fucking retarded to tip someone making regular pay for doing their fucking job. The same for pickups from restaurants (yes i was a server at one point). You usaully pick up from the bar and the bartender (most of the time) has had nothing to do with your order but take your payment and hand you a bag... No tip there. And if you bring it from the restaurant to my fucking car parked 10 feet outside the door, No tip there, I would have rather gotten it myself...[/rant]
1/26/2006 12:00:17 PM
if the people are nice, i usually drop my coin change or a dollar in those jars. i mean ive worked at places like that before, i know it sucks. but i also know that it would be insane to sit there and demand that people tip me 20% into the jar, hahahaa
1/26/2006 12:03:25 PM
how many tww pizza delivery guys are there - what kind of cars do they drive - and who do they work for
1/26/2006 12:05:39 PM
i like to put whisky in the jar....o
1/26/2006 12:06:11 PM
some douche just made me an outline about all the stuff he has to do as a pizza driver

1/26/2006 1:02:07 PM
I love how people will tip 15-20% at resturants where your server carries food from the kitchen to your table, but when the pizza guys drives the pizza from the resturant to your front fucking door, people whine about an extra buck or two.
1/26/2006 1:07:02 PM
^^YOU GIVE THEM PENNIES AND NICKELS? HOW GENEROUS INDEED!]
1/26/2006 1:07:56 PM
Tip Jars? no.Because it's stupid. You got hired and paid to do...whatever. Great for you.Tipping is for outstanding service, not becuase you're standing there doing your job as usual.Fuck tip jars. Whiners.Note, this does not apply to delivery guys or waitresses, because obviously, situations a bit different with gas or making like $3 an hour otherwise. And a couple other positions that it's standard to tip for.

1/26/2006 1:14:44 PM
1/26/2006 2:45:56 PM
haha you've never deliver pizzas before, i guess.
1/26/2006 4:38:27 PM
ive done both.waiting tables is MUCH more work.
1/26/2006 4:51:45 PM
ive never delivered pizzas, but i have managed people that deliver pizzas in 2 different pizza places... and THEY FUCKING WHINE TOO MUCH. they make easy money and they are greedywaiting tables (well, being good at it) requires so much more hard work/thought than sticking pizzas in a box and driving them around. i think waiters get greedy too, but at least they work hard.and i tip both well, so dont give me that crap
1/26/2006 5:29:17 PM
I worked as a delivery driver and a) you don't make shit off the delivery charge. That's an employer scam to make more money off of you spending yours. b) once you pay for gas and maintenance, tips are ESSENTIAL. If you're too cheap to tip someone who drives their own vehicle, uses their own gas, and pays higher insurance premiums just for your convenience, you don't even deserve the air you breathe. It's not only common courtesy, it's what you owe them for the convenience they offer you. I'm not gonna whine about the money, because it is pretty damn good, but the fact is, it does cost more for the service, and the least you can do is put up a couple bucks for his trouble. You'll never miss it, but it goes a hell of a long way once you add up all the little tips.
1/26/2006 6:05:23 PM
why exactly is it that i wont miss it?
1/26/2006 6:06:25 PM
your money i think
1/26/2006 6:51:32 PM
two bucks makes it worth it not to order pizza. Pizza guys should be paid for delivering pizzas enough to cover the costs of driving a standard car that number of miles by the companies, who in turn should pass it on to the consumers via a delivery charge. I know that's not the way it is done, but it's the way it should be done. I used to deliver, compared to working in the shop it's great. You drive around all day, and if you know where you're going (if you've worked the job long enough) you're on autopilot. If they paid my car expenses I'd have done it for minimum wage. As it worked out, I got 50 cent per run, plus tips, what a racket!

why does the fee not go to the drivers? I figured it was for increased gas prices.
1/26/2006 8:31:45 PM
