2/28/2006 5:53:42 PM
^ Yes, that is what I read as well. I had never listened to them before and tried to play one of their CDs and I didn't really "get it". Maybe you can recommend some of their songs that are your favorites?
2/28/2006 5:55:52 PM
i guess they're one of those bands where you either like it or not. I like them tho and they put on a great show.
2/28/2006 6:02:09 PM
yeah i like mewithoutyou and minus the bear too
2/28/2006 6:15:10 PM
2/28/2006 7:31:34 PM
so i wonder how many of these demos will be on the real cd. theres definitely a few that are more "catchy" like typical songs, like the single counting 54321.

am I wrong or isnt counting really old?Like i swear ive seen them play that live, and i havent seen them since the brewery show (and a few other ones before that)
3/23/2006 1:02:42 PM
i know they didnt play it at the brewery, i have the actual paper setlist from off the stage and that show was cut short anyways by 3-4 songs cause of that shit. im pretty sure its new man...
3/23/2006 4:24:28 PM
^^ you are probobly thinking of the countdown in 'Jet Black New Year'anyways...for those who care, their entire new album can be heard on their myspace page

5/2/2006 10:09:11 PM
fabulous album"We Will Overcome" is a great jam
5/3/2006 5:55:15 PM
I am really disappointed with this CD. Maybe it just needs to grow on me but until now I have liked every Thursday song. On this record I feel like #6-11 are all trash. The first half of the CD is awesome normal Thursday and then it just dies abruptly.
5/3/2006 6:08:26 PM
I'll agree, the last songs aren't as good as the first ones, but I think it's due to them branching out a little with musical experimentation...like synths and strings and stuff. It's a bit different than we're used to with them.I'm assuming it'll grow on me like the new Taking Back Sunday album grew on me after about 3 listens.EDIT: I love the lyrics on this album more than any other album in recent memory.[Edited on May 3, 2006 at 6:11 PM. I think my favorite so far is "The Other Side of the Crash/Over and Out(Of Control)."
5/3/2006 7:41:38 PM
BUMP BECAUSE I'M SEEING THEM FRIDAY NIGHT! me & the fiancee gonna hit this up...gonna be a good show.

^ Yeah after more listening to the CD I will admit that song is pretty good.I will be at the Winston show this Saturday.
5/16/2006 5:13:28 PM
im pretty sure setlist was this one:Understanding In a Car CrashParis in FlamesThe Other Side of the CrashDivision St.Counting 5-4-3-2-1For the Workforce, DrowningHow Long is the Night?Signals over the AirAt This VelocityThis Song Brought To You By A Falling BombCross Out the EyesThe Lovesong Writer---Jet Black New YearSugar in the SacramentAutobiography of a Nationwe can chat about the show tomorrow, im too tired to talk
5/21/2006 3:03:49 AM
yeah that was the setlist...Bike Week was such a pain I was really pissed that "We're All Broken" and "Minus the Bear" were even there. Hands down mewithoutyou stole the show. Their overall presentation was better, their sound quality was ENTIRELY better, and they were just more entertaining IMO.I would've loved if mewithoutyou had another 45 minutes to jam. Thursday did an outstanding job but I was very let down w/ the sound quality of their set. The guitars were totally overdriven and there was feedback galore. Typically, I've found the HOB to have some of the best SQ of any venue (like that) that I've been in. Great show overall, but too much stupidity in the crowd among other things.
5/21/2006 11:21:09 PM
^ fuck you for not appreciating minus the beari've been a thursday fan for like 5-6 years now, and they have progressively gotten worse with each album (i call it the "weezer syndrome"), but no matter how much they have changed from their old stuff, they still put on an amazing show and give 110% into every show they play, at least its been that way each of the 3 times i've seen them live. i was also happy that they didnt play strictly songs from their new album, although i would have liked to have heard at least one song off of their first album
5/21/2006 11:24:52 PM
are you kidding me? I've seen more life in a casket than those losers had on that stage. They weren't interested in playing, they weren't interested in their own music from what I could tell.I had one resounding word after seeing them: passionless. And no, I don't just wanna see fools jumping around, I've watched 1 lady play a piano and not move off her stool for an hour with tons of passion. Those guys sucked, badly.
5/21/2006 11:28:38 PM
its been said before, but the pixies barely move an inch when they're on stage during the whole show and they put on one of the best shows i have ever seen
5/21/2006 11:33:33 PM
Which refutes nothing I said. They a) stood still (which isn't the problem) and b) were passionless about their music. Totally emotionless. People were about to fall asleep.Just an FYI, I'm referring to the Myrtle show.
5/21/2006 11:36:34 PM
Forget Minus the Bear, let's talk about how awesome Jet Black New Year was for Thursday's encore in Winston. The crowd energy level was so high, was awesome.
5/21/2006 11:41:20 PM
i should have gallery stalked you fools and i could have been like SPOTTINGS
5/21/2006 11:50:14 PM
i stayed in the back for most of the show, i just wasnt in the mood to sweat my ass off with a bunch of white trash
5/21/2006 11:53:36 PM
I just saw Thursday was playing on the Warped Tour. Is it worth seeing them there? I've never seen them live, but if there's only going to play like 2 or 3 songs, then I'll just hold off until the next time they're in town.
6/10/2006 2:46:27 PM
^ Bands on warped tour get a scheduled time slot so they won't do any encores or anything. However, it is usually a pretty good slot. If I remember last year bands got about 45 minutes with 15 minutes inbetween bands.Thursday is one of the bigger names on the tour so they will go near the end of the day. I think the afternoon closers get longer time slots maybe like 1 hour but I am not positive.
6/10/2006 5:37:48 PM
is there a way to find out what times/stages the bands will perform at warped tour this year?i'm thinkin about getting a ticket but i want to know if i'll be able to see certain bands first. i checked the website and couldnt find a schedule, so maybe it hasn't been posted yet.i've never been to a warped tour so i'm not positive of how it works exactly.
6/10/2006 9:41:38 PM
afaik there is no way to check online since the lineup varies depending on the venueThey normally put up a big bulletin board in the advertisement/company area. They give out blank paper grids that you can fill in with the times of the bands you want to see so you can plan which stages to go to.
