I think the best way to help Smith would be to draft a really good TE so that d's just couldn't roll the entire coverage to smith's side...say vernon davis from maryland, he is a freak (but he might go way too early for the panthers)....if that happens maybe marcades lewis from UCLApanthers need to sign a good rb in free agency somewhere; i think that is a better option than signing one late in the first roundo-line help would be good too, but not essential....they dominated the bears and looked great some weeks and terrible others; that is more coaching than lack of talentDT would be a concern if i was GM...none of them are getting younger and jenkins is constantly hurtRE-SIGN WILL WITHERSPOON
1/24/2006 12:11:42 PM
TE pickup, many free agent trades at WR with Smith staying...RB pickup either late round or through FA...Oline trade straight up and a few safety pickups for depth.still not a fan of Jake.
1/24/2006 12:16:59 PM
if we were able to add a tight end and a decent running back we would be pretty solid for another super bowl run.None of our guys are getting old and i can say that for alot of other superbowl contenders.
1/24/2006 12:45:03 PM
^^ dude what do the panthers have to trade?NFL trades are wayyy rareall the moves will be made through FA or the draft
1/25/2006 6:50:06 PM
The thing about a good TE is he better sure be able to block or else Fox wont take him.

I really like the idea of trying to sign Jamal Lewis. If we can shore up RB before the draft, that'd be a big help.I'd be a lot less concerned about WR if we took care of getting a stud RB. Do that and I think we can try and steal a good one that falls through the first round or two.
1/26/2006 4:49:09 PM
WE MUST GO OUT AND GET A BIG TIME RB OR TE WHETHER IN THE DRAFT OR FREE AGENCY!!!
1/26/2006 6:22:54 PM
The Edge?Fucking A, dont you people get my hopes up!
2/3/2006 3:39:23 PM
Id really like to see them move up in the draft a little to get lendale white, but thats not going to happen.jamal lewis would be good, but expensive.Ricky williams could be a good, cheap back, the dolphins are looking to shed him.
2/10/2006 11:11:06 AM
Ive heard rumors that we may get Alexander
2/10/2006 11:13:31 AM
riiiiiiiiight
2/10/2006 11:15:45 AM
I feel like we have some strong defensive players we can shed for some other types of talent (hmm, hmm, RB). Who do you guys think we can shed on defense for some talent on the other side of the ball and still have a strong D?
2/10/2006 11:17:45 AM
That would be great. We could average 30+ a game.
2/10/2006 11:18:06 AM
The thing about our defense is that we've got quality backups at most every position, which is a must in the nfl. We've got to keep that
2/10/2006 11:19:39 AM
BIG TRADES RARELY HAPPEN IN THE NFL PEOPLE
2/10/2006 11:26:15 AM
if there are any trades, they will usually invlove the draft There will probally be a pretty big trade around TO. He is still under contract with the eagles, correct?
2/10/2006 11:28:58 AM
owens to the broncosjames to the falconsalexander with the seahawksdunn to the colts
2/10/2006 11:30:58 AM
doubt it, if alexander was going to stay with seattle, they would have gave him an extention before he became an unrestricted fa. Seattle won't pay as much as some other teams are willing to.
2/10/2006 11:35:11 AM
alexander wants to stay there thoughthat is keythey didnt resign him because they have to move some salary in the offseason
2/10/2006 11:37:16 AM
Atl is a possibility for owens as well.
2/10/2006 11:47:03 AM
their owner said already that he doesnt want owens
2/10/2006 11:47:59 AM
Fasano in the draft
2/10/2006 11:50:58 AM
drafting a te in the 1st rd would be a pick in a te heavy draftwait till the 2nd rd and grab a WR to help smith or a rb if one falls there, or possibly a replacement for witherspoon if he goes[Edited on February 10, 2006 at 11:55 AM. Reason : c]
2/10/2006 11:54:54 AM
anyone heard anything about fields' prospects for coming back next year
2/10/2006 11:58:19 AM
fields is prolly gonna retire and be a coach
2/10/2006 12:06:01 PM
that's too bad, if he could beat it again and come back like he did a few yrs ago, he would be a legend.
2/10/2006 12:08:12 PM
LONG.....BUT EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE.
2/10/2006 1:00:13 PM
2/10/2006 1:04:40 PM
^ where did you get this?
2/10/2006 1:06:20 PM
wow sounds like an echo from my posts in my nfl draft thread
2/10/2006 1:17:44 PM
you asking me?? I got that from that giant thing in the post ablve mine. Ricky Proehl is the shit. We made a sign for the Bills game begging him to come back for another year and he looked right at it a few times. He knows he has got the fans on his side.
2/10/2006 1:26:29 PM
^^but this is strictly devoted to the Panthers.stop trolling please.no one gives a shit that you made an NFL draft thread.[Edited on February 10, 2006 at 1:26 PM. Reason : asdf]
2/10/2006 1:26:34 PM

^^ you fucking dicknose,i said that the info in that long quote was what i had said in the nfl draft threadi am not trolling look at my other posts
2/10/2006 1:29:16 PM
You need a RB, WR, and a trainer capable of keeping Dan Morgan on the field if you're going to keep giving the man money.
2/10/2006 1:35:40 PM
^
2/10/2006 1:36:07 PM
so long as we're goin that far, we should also hire someone to teach delhomme the difference between a good decision and a bad decision.
2/10/2006 1:46:54 PM
he's always thinking of that dirty rice blitz
2/10/2006 3:29:46 PM
2/10/2006 3:42:20 PM
Antonio Bryant not going to be resigned by the Browns.1000 yard reciever last season and he would have an even better arm throwing to him than Dilfer. Could be a decent fit if he wanted to play for a contender.
2/13/2006 1:42:39 PM
bring mohammed back!
2/13/2006 2:29:36 PM
bring mushin back! I think we also need someone to replace dan morgan, i like the guy but the linebackers are not as dominant as they need to be compared to our d line
2/13/2006 2:58:48 PM
Moose is too old. Not too old to play next season, but too old to sign him to the 3-5 year that he wants. We need to sign someone who has been in the league for a few years and has been productive. The hell with a 1-2 year deal. We need consistency.I'm telling you, Antonio Bryant could be an excellent fit.Big, Athletic, and fast as hell. Pretty good blocker if i remember correctly.[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 3:09 PM. Reason : asdfd]
2/13/2006 3:08:36 PM
Wait, did the Bears release Muhammad?????
2/13/2006 3:47:17 PM
The Colts just issued a Press release saying that they will not use the Franchise tag on Edgerrin James. We seriously need to pick him up.I know we need another WR, but an awesome RB would do just as much, if not more to relieve the pressure on S. Smith. Either way you are making the safties come closer and allow smith to use his speed.
2/23/2006 11:35:38 AM
Needs: 1) A solid WR, who puts fear into defenses like Steve Smith 2) 2 more Offensive lineman, if you watched the Superbowl than you know why the hell we need some 3) BENCH DELHOMME, and utilize Weinke's talents before he becomes to old to be productive 4) A kick ass TE, who runs the 40 in around 4.5 secdonds, is big as an ox, and has hands like Jerry Rice!!...can we say NFC Championship one more time...GO PANTHERS!
2/23/2006 12:25:01 PM
I like Fasano in the 2nd round for the Panthers, it would be a great pickup and fit
