downtown seattle has the largest deep-water port on the west coast. the associated rail/ground/air infrastructure supporting that port is massive. skilled and semi-skilled labor unions run this city.

Ever heard of Boeing? you might have seen their products flying around your little airport. They are built here. And the local Machinists here shut Boeing down for two weeks and forced them to show them the money.

so roll your eyes all you want, but having lived your entire life in one podunk county doesnt mean you know shit.

and yeah, we love our espresso. there are more independant coffee shops and roasters on one seattle city block than in the entire city of charlotte. but you need to think longshoremen and steel workers and machinists drinking lattes. hell even the panhandlers drink lattes. if you ever pulled your head out of the red clay, youd see theres more to cuisine than barbeque pork and sweet tea.
