Evtimov is deadly from 3...but only when he can set his feet. If he cant set his feet, he's fucked...stick to passing[Edited on January 10, 2006 at 11:21 PM. Reason : ]

ev and sur just need to quit driving and play the perimeter like they are suppose to. we've got big black people for a reason /racism.
1/10/2006 11:21:28 PM
Umm...Atsur had a couple driving layups tonight.

Gavin looks like a younger Hodge only strongr. He can take almost anyone to the basket - but finishing is going to need some work. Playing within our offense will earn him more minutes.
1/11/2006 11:39:52 AM
g grant WILL do a nice job of filling Hodge's shoes by the end of this season

g grant WILL do a nice job of filling Hodge's shoes by the end of this season his senior year
1/11/2006 11:48:31 AM
As soon as he can drive - force a double team - and kick to an open shooter, he'll be effective.Right now shooting into a double team 5 feet from the basket does nothing - I agree with ^^[Edited on January 11, 2006 at 11:48 AM. Reason : ^^]
1/11/2006 11:48:46 AM
he's already a better shooter than Hodgecourse Hodge was a pretty good shooter and his shot fell off over his last year or two
1/11/2006 11:50:00 AM
I think Grant does a lot of little things well. Like passing and rebounding, and he is not too bad on defense. He's only gonna get better so we prolly just need to be patient with him.
1/11/2006 11:50:36 AM
He's a couple of dumb mistakes a game away from being a good player. He's got the physical side down and can drive well and rebound well. His problem is mostly mental...as he's still in that superstar high school mode. He's by far the most selfish player on our team and sometimes plays outside of our offense.

i think grant might be a better outside shooter than hodgebut grant takes terrible shots so his % is low. if he would wait for the open shot, he would prob be higher.
1/11/2006 12:32:25 PM
Considering Hodge was double teamed most of the time and erquired to throw it up in desparation half the time (things Grant doesn't have to deal with) that the difference between Grant and Hidge is even greater than the numbers indicate.
1/11/2006 1:05:49 PM
^^isn't grant like 3/15 or something on the year from long distance?hodge wasn't any worse than that percentage-wise, and he knew to not shoot that nearly as much as gavin does.
1/11/2006 2:23:07 PM
you are mistaking shooting percentage w/ shooting abilitynote: i dont actually KNOW that grant shoots better than Hodge, i just know that Hodge was a horrible outside shooter and it would be tough to be much worse. Plus grant's shot at least has better form.

1/11/2006 3:36:48 PM
whateverif a guy kills it in, say, a 3 pt contest but cant ever get open or know when to shoot, he is still a good shooter, he just sucks at everything else.truth be told, after watching hodge play for 4 yrs and gavin for one and a half, there isnt enough evidence that either is better than the other. Hodge has had 3-pters not even hit the rim and that was in the course of regular gameplay. The fact is, neither has shown themselves to be good at outside shooting. whether grant is good at 3's remains to be seen.

1.) Gavin is not better than Julius. 2.) Gavin is a good player, he deserves minutes, but he's been slumping. Through the first 5 games, he was averaging:29 minutes10.8 pts5.8 boards4.6 assists2 turnovers...he was one of the better players on the team productivity-wise. But since Iowa, he's been averaging: 19.5 minutes7 pts4.5 boards2.3 assists2.6 turnovers On a per minute basis, his point production has gone down and his turnovers have gone way up. I would agree that he deserves less minutes at this rate, but he could be a really valuable players for us. He's a big guard that can create match-up problems and create open looks off the dribble better than anyone else on our team. He needs to stick to driving and dishing, that's his forte, not 3 pointers, not posting up.Here's another reason why he plays:11/20 vs. Delaware22 points on 12 field goal attempts, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, a turnover, and a stealProbably the best single-game performance by anyone this season outside of Ced at Iowa[Edited on January 11, 2006 at 5:21 PM. gavin played really well tonightprops
1/18/2006 9:06:08 PM
He started off badly, played well in the middle, and ended badly. He exceeded my low expectations, but he still screwed up several times.
1/18/2006 9:07:06 PM
^agreed.played better than I usually expect but I still don't like seeing him making a move with the ball or even playing in the game really. he finished down low though.
1/18/2006 9:41:11 PM
made his layups mongood job on that
1/18/2006 9:42:16 PM
haha "mon"he did play a good game. duke's slow on defense. we could have probably used Fells' slashing ability tonight as well.
1/18/2006 10:03:24 PM
I didnt read the thread i would just like to point out hodge and grant both have horrible shot mechanics. That being said as long as the ball goes in the hoop, i dont care if its backwords lefty hook shot.

He finally hit an open three today. gg Gavin.
1/29/2006 4:28:28 PM
he didnt fuck up in OT and hit that 3. GGHe just needs to calm down when he is driving and THINK. If you see help coming, pass the fucking ball.[Edited on January 29, 2006 at 4:28 PM. Reason : sdf]

1/29/2006 4:31:29 PM
Somebody does need to tell him to not stand in the corner when a half-court trap is coming...it kind of limits your options Gavin.
