is verizon CDMA or GSM? Is cingular the only GSM company around here?

Verizon and Alltel are both CDMA. Cingular and Suncom are the only major GSM companies in the US.

i've had excellent sprint service for sevaral years

the only thing that will make me consider switching is rollover minutes

I just swicthed to cingular from sprint. I bought my phone and plan through an online site, and unfortunatelythings got screwed up somewhere between the retailer and cingular. Instead of getting a contract for a family plan with 2 lines, i got two contracts for single lines in the mail. I just called cingula, and there customer service was great - almost too nice. They took care of everything in about 5 minutes, i had no wait time on hold, and the guy seemed pleased to do it for me. On top of that, the cingular service has been great so far. So i would definitely recommend them so far.

Not that sprint was bad - i was a big sprint fan, but they were not so willing to give me a better deal to keep a long-standing customer around so I moved on. Now I am paying about $25/month less with cingular.

im about fed up with cingular

i dont have free long distance. since they had the at&t/suncom/cingular orgy my bills have had roaming fees every month for 9 months. doubles my bill

i have to call them once a month, spending 20 minutes each time while some dumbshit reads through line by line correcting the problem

Just do not go with Nextel, or Sprint. Verizon has the best coverage then alltel in my opinion. Do not know about cingular.
