boo this movie sucked

WTF KIND OF ROOTS HOLD UP A DINOSAUR BUT HAVE TROUBLE KEEPING NAOMI WATTS STABLIZEDGOOD GRIEF THIS MOVIE PAINED MY BRAIN
12/20/2005 3:46:18 PM
I don't think you understabd Peter Jackson tried to stay true to the original film while still making a modernized film so it would appeal to the masses. I thought it was great the dinosaurs didn't look real. I thought it was great the story didn't explain how Kong got back to New York. That is the beauty of the imagination; something new Hollywood has forgotten people have.
12/20/2005 4:38:14 PM
i can't wait to see this
12/20/2005 4:40:53 PM
Yeah I hear Woodfoot hates movies where you have to think
12/20/2005 4:44:59 PM
yeahthats itWHAT THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT?if anything there isn't ENOUGH to think aboutif anything the story of kong is a morality play about how, and i know i'm biting fucking penny arcade, man's need to corrupt or control every last bit of the unknown is what truly destroys the beautiful things of this world, originally as a smack in the face of colonialism in africabut you can't replace that with some fucking 15 year old without a past reading a joseph conrad novelit just doesn't work that way
12/20/2005 4:53:50 PM
rawwulf i hope you were being sarcastici don't think andy serkis spent 6 months living with and studying gorillas so they could be "truthful to the original", they did that because they wanted the most realistic experience possible; so don't tell me they spent so much effort on getting kong right, but didn't get the dinosaurs right as a "tribute" or some shitpeter jackson can suck my left nut, hes not good enough for the right oneanyone who would sell THEIR PRODUCTION NOTES for over THIRTY FUCKING DOLLARS and then try to pass off a films shortcomings as "being true to the original" is a fucking hack[Edited on December 20, 2005 at 4:59 PM. 12/20/2005 4:58:17 PM
It's ok to not like the film, but calling Peter Jackson a hack is a little extreme.
12/20/2005 5:00:58 PM
i told ya, i fell way off the bandwagon after ROTK and thisANYTHING WITH "KING" IN THE TITLE REALLY
12/20/2005 5:04:19 PM
Well it just seems backwards to me that you would harp on this film's shortcomings while defending shit like the Fantastic Four. It seems more of the typical overreaction to an acclaimed filmmaker/artist/whatever that people have when everyone likes him and they don't than a legitimate assessment of the filmmaker's actual skill. The boat thing DOES seem like something they held over from the original more than a big gaping overlooked plot hole. The only solutions they could've conceivably worked into this film is to either make the boat a lot bigger or come up with some kind of raft to get him back to land. Neither one would've been very satisfactory IMO.
12/20/2005 5:17:08 PM
Whoa whoa settle down I was being sarcastic. I actually agree with most of what you've said about King Kong.
12/20/2005 6:06:47 PM
12/20/2005 9:39:40 PM
Well, given that you once respected Peter Jackson for what I consider the WORST LotR film, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
12/20/2005 10:39:07 PM
okey dokeyi never looked for your agreement, and i'm sure you're doing fine without mine
12/20/2005 11:07:35 PM
i liked the movie. extremely entertaining to me. only gripe was that they could have left the character development of the kid and the black dude out of it and cut about half an hour out of it.
12/20/2005 11:10:03 PM
YOU'VE GOTTA GET YOUR EDUCATION JOHNNYo i am, i'm reading this book, its hella hard; you're gonna have to explain it to meO RLY?
12/20/2005 11:30:13 PM
12/21/2005 10:42:05 AM
I don't care how many of you bash this movie...I thought it was great. Lot's of reference back to the original but kept it updated and entertaining. I was a huge fan of the original since I was little so maybe I have a skewed opinion. I thought it did the original justice and was well worth the price of admission. If only other remakes were as good as this one!
12/21/2005 11:29:09 AM
all i have to say is: Sumerian rat-monkey
12/21/2005 9:07:15 PM
12/21/2005 9:18:23 PM
i started laughing when i saw that shit in the background, i bet 95% of the people that go to see it never notice it, or they dont get it if they do
12/21/2005 9:23:12 PM
I thought that myself. I pointed it out to my friend who went with me because he and I are huge Peter Jackson fans.
12/21/2005 9:25:34 PM
^ amen. the whole brontosaurus scene was way too long and wasnt necessary. it was entertaining movie but dont go see it later than 10pm. ur eyes will give up
12/22/2005 12:40:16 PM
it was alright - a little bit too long, and without much subtlety, but the kong vs 3 t-rexes scene was well worth the admission
12/22/2005 5:38:38 PM
MORE LIKE KING LONGAM I RITE?
12/23/2005 11:38:15 AM
u r correct sir
12/23/2005 11:43:05 AM
looks like narnia beat it out for #1 this weekcrazy delicious?
12/23/2005 11:53:29 AM
oh man, the Sumerian Rat Monkey got a cameo?I didn't notice
12/23/2005 11:53:41 AM
If you cut out the first hour of the movie, its actually very good.I liked it.Sure was better to watch then that festering christian-emo pile known as Narnia.
12/23/2005 11:54:45 AM
I really had to pee when the movie finally picked up the pace
12/23/2005 5:17:45 PM
wtf is the deal w/ the sumerian rat monkey
12/23/2005 11:43:57 PM
it's a stop-motion monstrosity from one of Peter Jackson's earlier moviesit bites an old lady and turns her into a zombie
12/24/2005 12:37:24 AM
I thought everything from the time they got to the island to RIGHT before the final line was pure gold"twas beauty killed the beast?" I don't care if it WAS on the original, that line sucked, it was delivered horribly, and it doesn't make fucking sense. what an awful, awful way to end the flickI almost cried when kong died though
12/24/2005 9:41:36 AM
ok, i just watched The Iron Giant again for the first time in prolly a yearyeah, the relationship in that movie is like 10x better than the relationship in kongi know its not so much an apples-to-apples dealbut i think the comparison is valid
12/25/2005 1:41:20 AM
this movie had to potential to be good, just way too long
12/25/2005 11:39:38 PM
^like you didn't expect that after return of the kingthe last 20 minutes of that movie should have been cut out
12/25/2005 11:46:18 PM
basically everyone has told me this movie is great[Edited on December 27, 2005 at 8:10 AM. Reason : .]

WOODFOOT WOODN'T
12/27/2005 8:52:03 AM
I hated the movie. it was tedious, slow, and pointless. everyone already knew the storyline. i don't understand how people think that ripping off ("showing homage to") someone else's art is acceptable.
12/27/2005 11:02:53 AM
Unless you can find me a 1930's movie with a realistic gorrilla interacting with a human female in a pretty touching manner, then I would hardly call this movie a 'rip off'.
12/27/2005 12:28:11 PM
saw it last night at brier creeka lot could have been trimmed from the movie, particularly the first hour or so, but overall it was very good, and the 3 hours only seemed like 2 hours and 55 minutes
12/27/2005 12:38:58 PM
12/27/2005 1:11:18 PM
jesus christthe dinosaurs looked fine
12/27/2005 3:05:08 PM

ida kept knocking that bitch down. go get her big fella.
12/27/2005 6:06:26 PM
shit blewso many scenes were too sillyi wish i wouldnt have been dragged to see it
12/29/2005 8:19:55 PM
In King Kong vs. Godzilla, they built a big raft and towed him to Japan or wherever. He woke up during the trip and ended up wading waist deep back to land. I think they made him significantly bigger than 25 feet in that flick.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056142/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9a2luZyBrb25nIHZzLiBnb2R6aWxsYXxmdD0xfG14PTIwfGxtPTUwMHxjbz0xfGh0bWw9MXxubT0x;fc=1;ft=13BTW, Kong kicked Godzilla's arse.[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 9:48 PM. I agree with 90% of what reviewers said: if they replaced Kong with a Giant Chuck Noris, the T-Rex fight scene (and the rest of the island part of the movie) would have made much more sense. I mean, holy crap, those fight scenes in the movie were so bad I can't even explain it. The T-Rex fight scene should have been cut to just the final showdown where Kong rips the things jaw open. And the entire bug sequence where they start swinging from vines with guns blazing was just terrible. Everything from the stampede sequence to the end of the bugs should have been greatly shortened.Basically, I think that I am saying that excluding the slow first hour, the entire middle of the movie, and the rushed NYC sequence, the movie was ok. The actors did their thing great, but I think Jackson took a nose dive with this one.
12/30/2005 12:42:47 AM
Delivery of the last line was shitty, but generally the slightly-toned-down-JB worked well. The deck of the boat was big enough for the monkey, no biggie. It dragged in places, but I thought it was decent enough.
12/30/2005 3:25:18 AM
so i was in the empire state building last night, and there's so much king kong promotion in the gift shop it's ridiculousthey even have a dude in a kong suitnot that i'm surprised
