TDS is not a news program. Its satire. I loved the time John Stewart was on CNN with the Bowtie guy. They kept arguing about the bias and Stewart kept saying WE ARE ON THE COMEDY CHANNEL. Granted, a lot of Americans get their news from the program, but they do not gather their opinions from the jokes that are being made.Everyone claims there is a liberal bias in education and the news. However, no one ever offers concrete proof of this bias. Actually, someone did a study that investigated all the reporting of Gore and Bush in the 2000 election. There was double the bad press for Gore than there was for Bush. If that means anything, its that there is a conservative bias in the media. Three weeks ago, when the CA congressman resigned for Embezzlement, you had to scroll to the very bottom of the article to find out he was a Republican. If they media is so biased, would they not have included his party in the title?Just because you don't like the contents or the object of the information, does not mean its biased.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 3:15 PM. Please explain (with words if possible) what's wrong with the Daily Show influencing people's opinions.
12/13/2005 3:43:34 PM
having an opinion about something because it was brought to your attention on a daily fake news and comedy show is a lot better than not caring enough to be informed about it at all.

Its a fucking COMEDY show. Its satire. Not to be taken seriously.Use a legit source to get information about a topic like npr, fox, cnn, msnbc, newspapers, etcYou shouldnt let a comedy show influence your policital stance on something because the show's goal is to make something appear silly or funny, not to report factually on a topic.
12/13/2005 3:49:44 PM
So, let's say for instance that I hadn't heard about Ted Stevens vicious defense of the $250 million bridge to nowhere until I watched the Daily Show. What would be wrong with letting their report on the matter influence me to think that Ted Stevens is a pork-barreling piece of shit? Are we not to let political cartoons influence our opinions either? After all they are COMEDY and often SATIRE to boot.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 3:51 PM. Reason : ...]

^^If jokes could sway public opinions effectively, a comedian would be in the white house.and if they can, its still is fine, most people find truth in comedy. you know....the whole seinfeld phenomenon.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 3:53 PM. Reason : -]

I just dont know what kind of a partisan pretzel you need to be to try and claim that comedians shouldnt be allowed to do a parody/satire show on the topic of politics just a becuase a popular one is liberal.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 3:57 PM. Reason : -]
