ooh, you mean in response to my other thread? yeah...but at the same time I figured that panting after engaging in little or no activity wasn't normal...call me overcautious, but I can't help but be worried about my new little baby

is she housebroken yet?how will you go about it?
12/14/2005 2:30:08 AM
^^^^hehe yay for mushy hearts, and puppy kisses! ^^^oh yeah, I really wanted a GSD, Golden Retriever, or Labrador Retriever...but then this little cutie came along and I couldn't resist!^^Thanks!^No, she is not housebroken yet. Amazingly, she already does relatively well in her crate and we've only had 2 accidents in it. I keep her 2 toys and her puppy kong in the back of her crate, so during the day she just goes inside to pick out whichever toy she wants (I don't keep the nylabone in there b/c she'll eat it all up in one sitting, and I don't want her to choke). As for how I'll go about training her...I take her outside to potty as soon as she comes out of her crate (and gets breakfast) in the morning. I've opted to work from home the last couple days, so I scheduled to take her out at lunchtime and also after dinner, of course. If I notice her giving me a whine, then I'll also take her outside then. Puppies have to go #1 a LOT, and usually I'm not quick enough to even catch her preparing to squat b/c she doesn't sniff around that much. When she goes potty inside, I don't say "no" unless I DO catch her doing it. Then I take her outside and let her finish. If I found that she pottied when I had my back turned, then I just clean it up...repremanding her won't do any good if she doesn't know why she's being told "no". If she's housebroken before 6 months, I'd be surprised AND proud of her...right now she's got 3 months to go, lol.

1/29/2006 4:45:24 PM
you'll just have to holla at me next time you're out this way. i think rowdy's crushing on your girl...also, to avoid confusion in the future, may i suggest amending your screenname to include more girl-ish discriptors... ie JSnailgirl or PinkFuzzySnails, etc...
1/29/2006 4:54:51 PM
omg pinkfuzzysnails? ack!! that's too fru fru girlie!!!Snail has been a nickname of mine for the LONGEST time...I just figured I'd put a "J" in front of it (for my first name)...never really considered the fact that it might confuse people about my gender! lolhaha Rowdy will have to fight off all the other boy dogs that are crushing on her! i dunno, he's a charmer... def a catch... she'd really be missing out if she let a lil bit of geography keep them apart
1/29/2006 5:03:47 PM
haha well she actually has a female pup friend named Rowdy also...she's a lab mix. As for distance, no reason they can't be friends!
1/29/2006 5:05:11 PM

1/29/2006 5:06:55 PM
