I didn't know the 944T's pulled $16k. Weren't you selling one a couple of years ago for $5600 or so?

I don't have any lap times... I dont' doubt you'd be a front runner, but the fastest? That's quite the claim, it's not impossible I realize that. You have to take into account the tube frame race cars and the 600+ hp Vipers on slicks and whatnot though...Here's a couple more pictures btw: and yes, this goofball really is me: Ahmet[Edited on December 12, 2005 at 2:45 PM. Skack, you can buy 944 Ts for $3k and $30k, much like most other vintage Porsches. This car is a 1 owner 50k mile turbo S, which gets you a million things over a regular turbo, including a larger turbo/exhaust valves, different engine management, wastegate, turbo cup trans (shot peened/hardened gears, molybedium synchros, trans cooler), 9 inch wide club sport forged wheels, factory coil overs, 10 speaker sound system, forged motorsports hubs, far larger brakes/wheel bearings, different bushings/sway bars, chasis bracing, motorsports control arms, and I could go on for a while... Put it this way, with chips, I had to lift to let the corvettes by.Ahmet

Checked the VIR website and it said that the Holiday Laps were postponed until Friday the 16th. $25 donation will get you 30 minutes, with no passing and pace car. I may check this out... I've never been on a race track before and it should be a good introduction.

Look at my picture, you can do something a bit more fitting don't you think? Arghx, I wouldn't waste my time with a parade lap. Sign up for a real DE, there's usually quite a few first timers on these.Ahmet

Hunter, there's a datsun race car for sale ($14k if I remember correctly, built off a 240 chasis), all current safety gear for time trials or whatever else you want to run, turned in a 2:12 on full course...Ahmet

^^ I don't even know what a DE is (driving event?). I was under the impression that any track time is usually $Texas... $25 donation for some parade laps is better than nothing right? Somebody who went last year told me it's still pretty fun, and you can get up to like 90+mph at some points (if I remember correctly), which is certainly something you could do on the street but with obviously more risks. They said the Holiday laps are better than normal parade laps.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 11:12 AM. Reason : .]

DE stands for "Drivers Ed", or HPDE for High Performance Drivers Education. You've done 90mph on the freeway I'm sure, driving on track with a pace car infront won't be THAT different from your daily driving, if maybe on the slightly on the more agressive side. If you're interested in becoming a better/faster driver, I would honestly suggest a bit of auto-xing (and once you start running front of the pack or so) followed by some HPDEs. Karting is also a great way to pick up some skill, but it doesn't have the sex appeal of a car.Ahmet

^^ I'm pretty sure there is a 55mph speed limit on those $25 runs. Not only that, but a lot of times there are multiple pace cars spread throughout the pack to heavily restrict your ability to speed. It's really a waste of time.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 4:52 PM. Reason : ]
