Hey guys...how long will it tak the Cubs to win the Series....since every year a baseball record is beat ( I figure this year will be for Barry Bonds)....Maybe 2007?

Also....I'd love to see the Mets win!

The Braves will win the East. As long as Bbby Cox is still the manager, the Mets will not win the division. They may have enough talent to beat the Braves head to head, but it's too soon for them to win the division in the long run.

Benson for Julio and John Maine. Seems like getting rid of

and the $13.5M owed for a mediocre pitcher. I don't mind it. After all, the hated Victor Zambrano had numbers just as good as Benson, minus the HUGE contract and the distractions..

^ I live in Kansas and they had the Royals caravan going around the state. It came to the town I work in and stopped at a place about three minutes from where I work. It was Jermey Affeldt, Emil Brown, some old crappy Royal players, and some even more crappy current players. Needless to say I did not bother stopping by.

They have Delgado, Wagner, Beltran, Wright, and Floyd at the very least..

Mets complete their spending orgasm by throwing chump change at a guy with a 6.99 ERA.

Hey NYM410 - you better be praying that Lima does not actually make an apperance in a Mets uniform because that will essentially mean that Willie has given up on the season. Maybe he can find some of that Houston magic again in the NL, but man he had to be the worst SP in MLB last season.

It's a shame she has the herp..

Anyway, it's a minor league worth less then league minimum deal in case someone gets injured. There is no way he is going to be a starter under normal circumstances.

^^^ spending spree? Their payroll has gone DOWN since the Phillips/Duquette days. It's under $100M, near the Phillies level since Florida is paying part of Delgado's contract.

Lima is a no-risk sign... he pitched very well for the Dodgers a couple of years ago and this is basically what the Mets are looking for... if he flames out so be it, if he pitches well and re-locates his junk then he will have a place as a long relief man. Either way the Mets aren't going to lose.

E^^ yet their 5 starters had a lower combined ERA then the Braves 5 starters.. hmmm

Pedro, Glavine, Heilman, Zambrano, Trachsel came out to 3.62 as starters.

Smoltz, Hudson, Ramirez, Sosa, and Thomson came out to 3.78 as starters. (I've read that even though Sosa was good last year Davies might be the 5th starter over him -- though I don't agree with that).

If those 5 stay healthy then the Mets will be fine. Also, don't be shocked to see Mike Pelfrey be pitching in September...

^ I agree with you on that. I like the Mets starting five better than the Braves right now mainly because Ramirez looked like crap last year, there is no telling if Sosa can repeat his success, Thomson is a garbage 4th or 5th starter, and Smoltz has the ever present injury risk. Even if Davies wins a starting spot (hopefully over Ramirez and not Sosa), then he is just one more question mark.

Quote :

To who? I'll give you the Yankees, Marilins, and Blue Jays because each has atleast two titles since the Braves run of 14 straight division crowns. Everyone else has at best one title (just like the Braves) and far fewer pennants or divisional championships in that 14 year time frame. Plus the Braves now have to operate under a shitty corporation with tight spending restraints unlike the Yanks, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc.

I was mostly talking shit but I will say that when I think of the Braves all I can think of is the Buffalo Bills - even if the Braves have 1 title. The Mets suck just because I'm a Yankees fan.

Hey NyM410 - is Nady going to have regular spot in the Mets lineup or is he platooning with anyone? I think he might make a good sleeper for my fantasy team especially in that Mets lineup with Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Delgado. He certainly looked worthy yesterday.

I think Mets brass is going to play Nady. I like Diaz but he has options left so he can be outrighted to Norfolk. I'm also not sure how Willie likes his work ethic.

I think Nady, if given the ABs, is primed for a breakout year.

** Also, I think Carlos Beltran is going to have a huge year. He is going to hit 2nd most likely with great protetion. If Jose Reyes can up his OBP look for a .295, 25, 100, 100 season from Beltran..
