We got two cats, brother and sister, specifically so that they could keep each other company when we're gone during the day (we were only going to get one cat at first). They claw the corner of the couch, but not nearly as much as they used to. We use softpaws, which work fairly well. If we see them clawing, we knock them over and tell them no. They usually freak out and run away. I think having two cats has helped a lot. They meow for attention, and they're still mischievous, but they wear each other out running around the house and wrestling.
Mostly, though, we don't leave things out that we know they'll get into. They like straws, so we know that if we leave glasses on the table with straws, the glasses will probably get knocked over. We're not having a Christmas tree this year because we're pretty sure the cats will have a field day with it. I want to wrap our presents, but I'm leaving them in their original mail-order boxes (or putting them in boxes that we have, if it's not something that came in the mail) so if the cats have a thing for tearing wrapping paper, we still won't know what the presents are.

i just had a puppy for a couple of days before delivering him to my brother.

buy a puppy if you want something to piss and shit on the floor every 15 minutes, and then again after you take him out regardless of what he just did outside.

cats are litter trained by 2 weeks of age.

dogs piss and shit outside.
cats piss and shit inside, and you have to scoop up their piss and shit and throw it away reguarly.

dogs win.

you have to take the dog out everytime it needs to go. you have to pick its their crap with your hands in a little baggie everytime it goes.

that said, i'm not a cat person, or a dog person. i love both.

^^OH MY GOSH! THE PICS IN YOUR GALLERY!!

I have NEVER gotten my cats to ride in the car with me...they like to go in if the windows are down, but are out when the key hits the switch. And the fosters on the bed:ADORABLE!!
And Monkey & Maple are like my KJ & Ditta (both cats), or Micky Way & Tonka (my cat & dog, they take turns cleaning each others ears till they pass out on each other!)
Precious pics!

"Leann, you need to get Shady a playmate! They'll take out all their energy on each other, at least thats what my two cats do, they're both about 8-9 months old."

yea the same thing happened to my cat
he has 2 kitty friends that are my roommates cats
and i went on an internship for one summer and took him with me
and he hated it the whole time
he had noone to play with
and he went back to normal after i went back here
so some cats NEED another cat to play with or get beat up by (in my cats case) or something like that
