I'm reading Crashing The Borders: How Basketball Won the World and Lost Its Soul at Home, and it is actually pretty good.

Since I've been a bum and only sit at the pool all day for the last 2 weeks + 1 more week I've gone through Moneyball, The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty (Buster Olney), and I just started October '64 (David Halberstam)... I like them all so far..I also like the one that Packbacker posted .. Four Corners: How UNC, NC State, Duke, and Wake Forest made North Carolina the Center of the Basketball Universe... and the Bill Simmons Sox book 'Now I Can Die in Peace'[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 11:23 AM. I read Feinstein's "The Punch" recently. That book has been around a while, but I thought it was a good read. I never realized how unpopular the NBA was before the Magic/Bird days came along.

just got done withIt's not so much about game action as it is about the culture, stories, and tradition behind the scenes of soccer/football around the worldSomehow (and it does it well) the book addresses a good selection of some of history's more fascinating socioeconomic questions and answers them in the context of the game and some of its more famous faces and clubs
