Do you people realize that Jay is the only QB to have ANY success throwing the ball against Virginia Tech? In that game, the coaches actually let him throw something other than a screen pass and we had success.

I'm not blaming Jay, and I'm not praising Marcus. I believe that we have to employ a different game plan with Marcus, and its working. Its called run the fucking ball down their throat, and pray it works. Problem with Jay is that he knows the offense...therefore we have to call lots of pass plays, and it gets us into trouble. Jay just didnt deliver when it counted, and lost us lots of yardage when he was under pressure. With Marcus, we simplify the gameplan, run a little misdirection, and win. Thing about it is, it sounds stupid, but it works.

The great thing about all of this is that nobody expects us to do shit with Marcus in, so its a win win situation. The more he plays, the better he will be in the future. If he plays all games like he has in the second half, his stats would be fine and we probably would have put up a few more points, but I think that will come with experience.....which...HE CANT GAIN RIDING THE PINE

yeah, but with Jay behind center, I think we put a little too much confidence in his arm. With Marcus, we know we have to run and open up holes, so that is our offense now, as long as stone can complete a few here and there.

I agree that Jay is the better quarterback,(not by much), but I think this is the change we needed to run a style of offense that would work for us. It really just sucks that we didnt realize this sooner.

...the other thing...our wideouts are more than happy to block for these stud running backs. I listened to an interview with Tramain Hall last week where he was just praising the hell out of Andre, saying that if he could cut down his catches to get the kid in the endzone, he would be satisfied, and be the first to jump on him. Hall and Clark are studs, but they understand what they have to do to win...and I don tthink we were taking advantage of that.

How has a QB who throws for less yards and a worse completition percentage open the running game? Teams are just going to stack the line, I know some of you say they already are, but they will put 9 in the box and stop it. We have to pass for a little success and cant be one-dimensional.

Stone has an X factor that makes the rest of the team better.

statistically, stone is a much worse qb, but something about him has lit a new fire in the team. Whatever it is, all I really care about is getting those W's.

I think it's not so much Stone's exceptional performance, but more his lack of mistakes especially against FSU. The biggest thing is that Davis wasn't getting the team fired up, he didn't seem to be a leader. When Stone lowers his shoulders and punks down a FS linebacker, that gets the whole team going, it doesn't matter if he makes any yardage or not. He's helped to pull the team together, but like most have said, Andre Brown is just plain sick and b/t the two of them, we're seeing a whole new team.

Now, i agree that it was time for some kind of a change in the positon (sorda like an investment for the future) hence younger qb+games=experience).

I understand what you're saying. Davis can not be faulted for us losing. If Jay were a sophmore, I would want him behind center, and I would be pissed that Stone got the job. Fact of the matter is that Jay has not won very many games...regardless of his stats and knowledge of the offense...and he is a senior. Stone just brought us a different look, and a different style of play...POUND IT...its that simple. So far, you can not argue that we're better with Davis behind center....once again...regardless of what his stats would have been. Thing is, Stone will get better every time he takes a snap. If we're winning during his learning process, thats just a bonus, and it will do nothing but help him in the future. So far its working, and I just dont understand anyone saying that Stone should take a back seat to Davis for the rest of the season. Anyone who thinks that still can just kiss my ass.
