uhh, no. sportbikes have EXTREMELY tall first gears compared to cars, because they are wheelie limited...no reason to have it geared any lower, because you can only accelerate so fast without looping it. plus, they are roadracing machines, not dragracing machines, so it's more important to have the first couple of gears tall enough to be usably smooth. if they were shorter, you'd jerk the chassis around every time you touched the gas. plus, having 1st gear really tall allows the gears to be spaced very tightly.

but yeah, when you redline WELL into the 5-digit range, you're gonna be revved up a lot more than a car even when you're just sedately cruising.

I've got a header and a Greddy full cat-back on my spec v, and i have complete control over how loud i want it to be. If im just idiling or riding with my rents or a girl its quite, but when u walk as slow as possible in front of me at the crosswalk, im gonna give u a lil rev to hurry u the fuck up. In my defense, i get compliments on my exhasut all of the time. Its not raspy, and everyone thinks i have a v-6 or somehting

I meant compared to other sports bikes. My first gear is like 3.6 or something close. Cant remember. Longer than cars, yes, but shorter the other bikes.

ok, first of all, i have to take 2 viewpoints on the matter. and just to try to be technical, i'm not going to talk shit about the transvestite that wrote the article in the first place. loud exhausts are not made to be loud. that is not one of the specifications that the manufacturer tries to improve. indeed, exhausts are tested and specified by the decibals of the output. but, there is not a single exhaust out in the market that did not pass EPA noise emission specifications. unless it's custom made or gutted. now, my point being, if there is a vehicle with a loud ass exhaust, it's probably loud for a reason, which is, the person with the exhaust is most likely using it to increase the flow out of the engine, but not before increasing the flow to the engine. what that means is most people know that if you mount a high flow exhaust on your system, it will actually take away your low end and kill your performance. you have to do intake mod's before you mount a high flow exhaust. and for all those people who have a ford focus with a straight pipe on them and nothing but a oil-clogged air filter under your hood, i do have a saw zaw and i'm gonna go on a rampage here some time soon. speaking about myself, i am one of those bikes that have a loud ass exhaust and yes, i do go through campus in the first gear. simply being, if i shift into second, i would have to keep my R's at around 5 K which would probably be around 60 mph. do you want me flying 60 on cates? dont think so. and, i dont have a stupid ass exhaust for no reason. i have a carbon fiber DEVIL high flow exhaust, that goes along nicely with my HIGH FLOW K&N and a power commader. and this one little transvestite who's afraid of the sound of pure power, well i'm sorry, if you have a problem, come talk to me face to face and MAKE ME take my shit off. and oh yea, my pipe is still baffled and it doens't make half as much what you call "noise" as it could.

^ agree, but the guy with the Green Ninja that has the short little handmade black exhasust is ridicoulsy loud. Props to the guy for making it himself, and it doesnt bother me, i think it sounds good, but that mother is prob the loudest bike ive heard.

i've been telling him to take that thing off for quite some time, and he actually has a muzzy he can throw on there, which he actually did about 2 weeks ago, but after reading this article he says he'll throw the straightpipe back on. i do agree though, it is too damn loud. mine ranks at 104 db, and his is prolly in 120's

Seriously that think idling is as loud as most bikes when there are ripping threw the gears. I couldnt handle it if i were him. It would get annoying, i know my buddies sube made my ears ring for days when i drove it like 8 hours.

With mufflers its all about how they are set up, my greddy has no restrictions, and it straight through, but u cant tell usless i want u too. Its great on the interstate, 3,000RPM is still quite

well i'm not the biggest fan of his exhaust just because when i ride with him, i simply can't hear my own until i R about 11K. his is lound in the range of 3-8 K and mine "beats" his starting 10 K all the way to 17K

Buying the bike isnt the prob, ive already got the money for that. But if i get the bike i wont be getting the $20,000+ a year for tuition, etc. plus my parents are about to buy me a house ~$160,000 so i dont really want to piss them off...

u mean i had a p.o. box for my insurance. bought the bike and had all the info. sent to that.. then i had a storage garage at colonial storage off beryl street to keep the bike. i was probably the most fun i've had.. not owning the bike just the fact that i was hiding it from the rents

"I knew GM was onto something with that Metro."

GM didnt make the metro, suzuki did. I like metros... My uncle has a yardfull of them and one of them he has converted into a 4-wheel motorcycle. Every body panel that is removable has been removed. The body is chopped in the back so the only glass remaining is the windshield, and its kinda trucklike looking. The engine in there right now has a nice lopey idle and has a cam designed for converting the engine to aircraft use... It pulls the power band up into higher rpm but I'm not sure on the hp output but that car is pretty darn quick because it weighs NOTHING. You can literally pick the rear end up single handedly, and two guys can lift the front. The stock suspension is pretty stiff with half the weight riding on it so it doesnt handle too bad either considering its still got 155mm tires on it. The engine is destined for a trike ultralight, thats why the cam, but he's replacing it with a peppy 1.3L 4cyl from a Suzuki Swift GTI. He put a cherrybomb on there and it sounds nuts... Maybe he'll let me borrow it so I can terrorize campus.

He also has a metro truck conversion with a nice wood bed. Theres a photo of it in my gallery. No photos of the stripped one.
