so you're saying stone has good awareness?Dude, seriously, get off his nuts. He's the starter, you lose, get over it. If he fucks up, then you can say I told you so, but just know that Jay had 17 starts to prove himself, and only won 7 of them. I still don't understand how you can drool over a quarterback with a 7-10 record when Stone has not proven himself either way. Usually it takes a QB 2-3 starts to even get comfortable. get over yourself and stop polluting these threads with Jay Davis semen.
10/31/2005 3:20:41 PM
i'm saying he had one good play on one drivethat's all he was good for other than transporting the ball from the snapper to brownthe rest of the time he did fuck up, but it didn't matter b/c the other team was horribleand i've only mentioned jay davis once in this thread...
10/31/2005 3:29:09 PM
Jay Davis will never start another game unless Stone gets hurt.
10/31/2005 3:37:50 PM
Davis will play in the FSU game next weekAmato gave Stone the USM game because Amato knew USM was a cupcake teamHe told Stone that the coaches were behind him b/c the coaches figured this game was an automatic winI doubt the coaching staff will have the same mentality this week

10/31/2005 4:23:26 PM
I don't know what fantasy world you live in, but yes, it was stone who made some clutch third down passes in the second half. It was stone who kept the drives alive..because...no...contrary to popular belief, we didnt run the ball on every play. I already said the win can be credited to Brown, but Stone had to do his part and complete some passes in the second half. Where the hell do you get that Davis will start against FSU? Did Amato come out and say that Stone beating a decent (notice decent, not great) 1-A opponent wasnt good enough, and that his first half jitters were unexcusable? I mean gee golly, Davis played so much better than Stone in the FSU game last year that there is no choice but to start him again. WTF man, you're delusional. Get over it. Its getting old listening to the same person bitch about Marcus Stone over and over. Some of us like to have fun with our sports, even when our teams are sucking it up.
10/31/2005 4:52:10 PM
Summary: Stone was pretty bad out there and you should expect a completely dismal outing this week.[Edited on October 31, 2005 at 5:30 PM. Reason : a]
10/31/2005 5:11:55 PM
Who says I don't expect a shitty performance this week? He played like ass last year against them. I expect nothing different, except for FSU to score at least 30. I'm just pointing out that its time to stop bashing Marcus Stone until he gets his feet wet as the starter. Come back in a few weeks and bash him, not after his first start.[Edited on October 31, 2005 at 5:33 PM. Reason : ]

10/31/2005 6:05:30 PM
oh well why didn't you just say so? Care to explain?
10/31/2005 6:11:52 PM
not really. not really any fault on his part, we've just got some shared history.

Either way, the coaching staff would be stupid to take Stone out if he started playing bad. There is too much instability in the coaching staff with all the turnover, it would be terrible to start sending mixed messages. You can't just fuck with the QB's head like its nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if they sat him down for a series or 2 to talk him through something, but I just can't see them taking job away from him over a loss at FSU. That team is a monster on D. Plus, what better team to learn from your mistakes on than FSU. Not too many teams play as good of defense, so either way his confidence should go up after this game.oh, and I'l put words in your mouth when I feel like it. Whats the difference, everything you say is garbage anyway. [Edited on October 31, 2005 at 8:52 PM. Reason : ]

Charlie you are all over jay's nuts for some retarded reason. You must be blind if you cannot see that Marcus brings something to the table that jay doesnt. Stone brings confidence to the team that jay cant bring.
10/31/2005 10:21:11 PM
I don't like what Stone brings to the tableand so I'd rather watch Davis playits just that simple

marcus will play FSU, cause he has a chance against a strong blitz team like FSU... he didnt get sacked once against SMU, yea SMU i know... but still, there would be too many sacks with jay in, cause marcus likes to run away from them if our line blocks like shit
11/1/2005 12:35:06 PM
marcus isnt going to be able to run away from FSUs defense
11/1/2005 12:42:28 PM
besides the fact that it is USM and not SMU, that is a horrible excuse for an argument. Stone still has no idea where the defense is once he gets out of the pocket. If you had been at the Wake game you would have seen him take two awful sacks where he could have easily thrown the ball away.
11/1/2005 12:44:04 PM
Um, even though it was Eastern Kentucky, we took out our first string O-line before Stone even came into the game. I know that still shouldn't matter because they're 1-AA, but they were blitzing the fuck out of us. Stone didn't even have time to say fuck, much less tuck the ball on that play.^please stop talking about those 2 plays. Charlie beat them to death last week and that was his only argument on why Stone sucks. Guess what....Wake didn't score on that play and on the very next drive Stone threw a touchdown pass. You should look at that and say "well at least he wasnt rattled by the sacks" [Edited on November 1, 2005 at 12:48 PM. Reason : ]
11/1/2005 12:45:31 PM
that's quite possibly the dumbest arguement I've ever heard.... "well it didnt hurt us so it doesn't matter that he fucked up"give me a break. I think both are rather mediocre for the record

^mad props to Stone for giving up a fumble returned for a TD to a I-AA school
11/1/2005 2:05:41 PM
^yea mad props to the o-line for letting him get blindsited. EVERY qb in the nation would fumble if they got blinded sighted that hard. Mad props to jay for throwing a pick against EKU.
11/1/2005 2:16:37 PM
This is a retarded argument. The fumble against EKU was ridiculous. The defender's coming right at him from the front side, and instead of tucking the ball or throwing it away, he just held it over his head. My immediate drunken reaction was "cut him from the fucking team."The Wake game, though...yeah, he took some sacks. No, he didn't play brilliantly. But he was still the only offensive spark we showed that day. I give him credit for that. And even as a Davis supporter up until the Clemson game, I knew the Wake game was over in the 4th as soon as they put Davis back in.But at this point it's retarded to argue over QBs. Face it: the Jay that played in the VT game is not the Jay Davis that played against Clemson and Wake. He's lost way too much confidence. Aside from that, Stone does need starting experience--this season is basically a lost cause, but he's still going to be here next year. So just let it rest--we all know that both QBs suck.

Yeah, I was there. What it looked like to me was that the defender was coming at him from the side on his front (i.e., if you drew a line directly from Stone forward, the defender was at a 45-degree angle). It also looked like he saw the guy coming and froze. And I'm not the only person that saw it that way.[Edited on November 1, 2005 at 6:52 PM. Reason : ]

from what i remember on that play, it was straight up the gut. But he was not just standing there like you say. The ball was snapped and he started to turn as if it was some PA pass and he got hit pretty good in the middle of his turn. There was all of half a second between the time the ball was snapped and he was hit. Granted he still shoulda held onto it.
