the committee responsible for this needs to be overthrown[Edited on October 12, 2005 at 3:29 PM. Reason : preposition]
10/12/2005 3:29:11 PM
you guys understand no one is going to be happy ever.and with that, wtf these bands are gay.
10/12/2005 3:34:35 PM
at least wolves din will bring more decent bands to nc state.
10/12/2005 3:36:37 PM
ok, I agree that nobody is ever going be able to please 100% of the student population, but c'mon. I bet you could get the fucking pixies for $75k and pack the joint.
10/12/2005 4:03:13 PM
the problem is that most of the student population has never heard of the pixies.
10/12/2005 4:04:35 PM
who the fuck has heard of crossfade?plus, I'd have to say just as many people have heard of the pixies as dashboard confessional[Edited on October 12, 2005 at 4:11 PM. Reason : .]
10/12/2005 4:10:30 PM
mm i dono. i would def not put any money on that. i bet i could go find 10 ppl my age who had heard of dashboard for every 1 or 2 ppl that had heard of the pixies. especially girls.
10/12/2005 4:12:39 PM
I'd say a couple of years ago Dashboard was very well known, they had several videos on MTV, etc., so a lot of people know who they are. With that being said, I don't like their music and if they do choose them I will choose not to attend though I'm sure they will still have a good amount of ticket sales.Crossfade, only heard one song and thought it was ok, might have to check out the rest of the cd and see if it's worth a gander. And yes it would REALLY be hard to find one band/artist that everyone would enjoy seeing, and I kinda like the way they break it into genre's, but "emo"(Dashboard) shouldn't be one of them. Country, Rock, and Rap, that should pretty much sum up the genre's right there.
10/12/2005 4:22:28 PM
i have seen crossfade in concert in Kentucky and they put on a pretty good live show, alot of things to look at and alot of crowd involvement, i dont see how DC is gonna get alot of involvement considering DC is just one guy with a guitar....theres not actual band its just one dude.
10/12/2005 4:23:23 PM
actually he has a full band now
10/12/2005 4:27:16 PM
id rather see slayer and metallica for $75,000.
10/12/2005 4:28:48 PM
Yeah DC is a full band unless they've changed since the Spiderman 2 soundtrack.
10/12/2005 4:30:08 PM
I'm just pissed my student fees are being used to pay for a band I've never heard of.
10/12/2005 5:18:12 PM
but i mean when people think of dashboard they think of it as a full band like green day where the players are the founders and what notDC started as just a guitar and still does a TON of fully acoustic songs
10/12/2005 5:51:51 PM
I have no problem with the homecoming band being something mainstream/accessible in lieu of a great band with a niche audience like the Pixies/New Pornos.I do have a problem with the homecoming band being shitty.Someone call AC/DC. They'll do it for beer.
10/12/2005 6:23:29 PM
hahah and people got pissed last year when Luda cameDashboard Confessional what the fuck hahah
10/12/2005 6:28:25 PM

10/12/2005 8:25:02 PM
is it official who's doing it yet?
10/12/2005 8:36:54 PM
Last year they were talking about getting Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, why didn't they try again this year? They would have a lot wider appeal than Dashboard or Crossfade.
10/12/2005 8:48:13 PM
im gonna go play it for homecoming. itd be better. me and you calledarms boy.
10/12/2005 8:55:40 PM
http://www.crossfadeonline.com/http://www.dashboardconfessional.com/Sigh...I didn't go to last yrs show and it looks I won't be going this yr as well. Another BIG disappointment!!
10/12/2005 9:45:37 PM
it only cost 311 $30,000 a night to put on a show....according to this interview on cannabisculture.comhttp://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/4192.htmlteehee[Edited on October 12, 2005 at 9:50 PM. Reason : link]
10/12/2005 9:48:11 PM
311 would be awesome! Anything but the other 2
10/12/2005 9:50:53 PM
With the exception of being late as all hell and that shitty local rap group, Luda was great last year.I say we just have him back.[Edited on October 12, 2005 at 10:01 PM. Reason : .]
10/12/2005 10:01:24 PM
Why do they always wait until the last minute to book the act?
10/12/2005 10:02:54 PM
i wonder why they never pursued Little Brothersince part of their roots are at North freakin hall
10/12/2005 10:40:46 PM
311 wouldve been perfect
10/12/2005 10:50:25 PM
indeed they would be...they might even bring us pot!!
10/12/2005 10:53:17 PM
30,000 wouldve meant the show wouldve been free or at least real cheapand reynolds would be nearly full
10/12/2005 10:55:59 PM
I think we can all agree that we listen to "good" (relative) music in our respective niches. With that being said we must also realize that our tastes would never fly on a large scale, such as at an NCSU homecoming event. However, we need to let the powers that be know that we are tired and fed up of our monies being spent on frivolous events that appeal only to the mindless masses. We, the student population, must take matters into our own hands as to the music we want to hear on our campus. The Wolves DIN is a gigantic step towards this; however, we must not let the Wolves DIN become a one faceted music solution that caters only to a select few.I propose that we hold an open forum where the future of various musics at our school will be discussed. I would hope that those interested would respond, and that we could set something up in the very near future. This is a call to arms! (no pun intended)
10/12/2005 10:59:16 PM
^ i agree tho
10/12/2005 11:43:25 PM
how the hell does pop rock appeal to a wider base than hip hop/ rap?
10/13/2005 12:26:30 AM
10/13/2005 12:52:30 AM
please read my post above.also, more than 10 people would be there. I assure you of that.
10/13/2005 2:05:51 AM
Personally if they wanted to appeal to everyone...it would be wise to contact Outkast sometime...or have more than one performer
10/13/2005 2:22:10 AM
^^^ a month ago 1,000 ppl paid good money to see BTBAM play in charlotte and theyve played for the tens of thousands up north before
10/13/2005 2:26:34 AM
^^ That's what I've said all along.Of any popular band out right now, Outkast is the only one that would appeal to ANYONE, any age, any race, any gender, any origin. If you can't at least laugh & move your body to Outkast regardless of how out-of-touch you are with reality, you need a pulse.Heck, I went to a Saves The Day concert in like '03 where the encore was them covering "Hey Ya" and it got WILD in that crowd.[Edited on October 13, 2005 at 2:28 AM. 10/13/2005 2:28:16 AM
1,000 in a large city such as Charlotte isn't that amazing.
10/13/2005 2:28:26 AM
it is when thats the sell out. coulda been more, i forget what tremont holds.besides my point wasnt that they are going to get as many ppl out to see them as coldplay or something. just proving that more than 10 ppl would go to see them[Edited on October 13, 2005 at 2:30 AM. Reason : ]
10/13/2005 2:29:05 AM
I'd rather go and see Twista than that.
10/13/2005 2:36:12 AM
youre missin out then. my fav live band of all time but i understand it wouldnt be best for the entire student body. but my gosh, SOMETHING better than crossfade. i mean i think i saw somewhere awhile back that modest mouse was 10,000 for a show? i havent listened to them in like 5 years but theyd be better and maybe they could get more than one band!
10/13/2005 2:39:04 AM
Meh, Modest Mouse kinda sucks. But, they are leaps and bounds better then Crossfade.I think BTBAM or something similiar would open a lots of people's minds. A lot of people would go just because it is homecoming, and they'd PROBABLY have fun, even if it is not their type of music (I went to a Darkest Hour show years ago, and I didn't like them at all at that point, had a blast)
10/13/2005 3:20:54 AM
^ You're outta your mind.BTBAM would cause an absolute UPROAR of complaints from students and espc. older folks. The mainstream public wouldn't take too kindly to that stuff man.
10/13/2005 3:24:52 AM
Which is why it would be so awesome. Why did they take so kindly to Luda then? I mean, I'm sure he cursed a few times, talked about bitches and hoes and whatever the fuck else he babbles about... [Edited on October 13, 2005 at 3:28 AM. Reason : .]
10/13/2005 3:27:23 AM
I absolutely love BTBAM. Ask anyone; however, I would not put them on homecoming.BUT! if given the chance to do something smaller, like when undying played on campus. I'd be totally down for that.lets have a meeting everyone.[Edited on October 13, 2005 at 3:37 AM. Reason : .]
10/13/2005 3:36:09 AM
I wonder what Ben Folds is up to these days. The Offspring would probably be pretty cool too.[Edited on October 13, 2005 at 3:41 AM. Reason : .]
10/13/2005 3:38:18 AM
Ben Folds is being mopey in Australia with ol' Frally.
10/13/2005 3:46:03 AM
ok so i just got the Dashboard cd, the new one i think, and i swear if they start playing this it will be 10th grade all over again and whether or not the crowd shows up this stuff will put the people who are there to sleep. this shit completely sounds the same... each and every song holy shit. i realize crossfade is not spectacular either but at least there a little bit harder...
10/13/2005 7:17:36 AM
Harder, maybe, but if this description is true (and coming from CTA, I'm inclined to think it is):
