10/25/2005 12:02:56 PM
uhhh, every gaming site has the release date as today.
10/25/2005 2:31:28 PM
guess best buy is just more realistic, eh mate?
10/25/2005 2:32:53 PM
The EB Games at Crossroads told me they will get in tomorrow.
10/25/2005 3:09:02 PM
ok heres what happened. Release date was today ship date was yesterday according to EBgames and according to the publisher. But some how the shipment got fucked so it shipped out today instead and will be in the EBgames in Cary by 11am tomorrow.and don't buy new release PC games from best buy dude, the stores get them over a week late if not more. And the website also gets them late.
10/25/2005 4:09:37 PM
basically dont ever go to Best Buy if you're trying to get your shit on time
10/25/2005 4:52:14 PM
basically. only reason i shopped there is for discounts. but never bought games from there even with my discount.
10/25/2005 5:07:03 PM
I don't buy games period. But this one I did buy off of Gamestop online. I just pointed out best buy because they actually changed their release date today.
10/25/2005 7:01:06 PM
they are the worst source to use for release dates, along with circuit city. although circuit city isn't too bad.
10/25/2005 7:21:42 PM
W00t in about 15 hours I will be sitting in front of my computer vegetating on this game.I can't wait. I have already written out my will in case my wife kills me in the meantime. She can NOT have the computer or the game, my son will get it. That'll teach her to try and stop me. ONE LAST FUCKING TURN BITCH!!!!!!
10/25/2005 10:09:42 PM
one more turn! one more turn! one more turn!you should just file for a separation for the next year or so. Trust me, it will save your marriage in the long run
10/25/2005 10:34:53 PM
I got mine from EB games online yesterday. Had them ship it overnight.
10/26/2005 8:19:34 AM
Anyone play it yet today (I am positive we'll get a rash of posts around 6am when the first wave finally stops to get some sleep before their 805s)?
10/26/2005 12:51:56 PM
almost done installing.I picked up the last copy of call of duty 2 collectors edition but like i told the salesman. I don't think i'll be playing any other game ever again lol.once everyone settles down with the single player we should give the multiplayer a shot as a tww group. From the IGN reviews they say it is what a multiplayer should be unlike civ III play the world garbage. and that multiplayer is now really fun and has been built from the ground up.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 1:41 PM. 10/26/2005 1:40:35 PM
HOLY SHIT! you can change graphics options like increases resolution to fit my monitor at 1920x1200 never thought a civ game could do that oh and anti-aliasing and stuff like that....so far looks like i have a loooong hermit type life coming up. No way i can get up and leave this game. way too good.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 2:31 PM. Reason : fda]
10/26/2005 2:30:50 PM
You could change resolution on all civ games since Civ II.
10/26/2005 2:34:10 PM
not nearly that high. and not in game options. you had to edit the registry to do so
10/26/2005 2:35:32 PM
Yea but I mean the game is half a decade old.
10/26/2005 9:20:20 PM
yeah i know. I wasn't bitching about it. I'm just saying its nice to see that addition.
10/26/2005 9:22:19 PM
I like it. A lot. They definitely took out a lot of the really annoying things that just took up time. And the games move much faster. I got my copy this morning, and finished a 3hr game. Not too shabby. It's definiely much improved so far.
10/27/2005 3:57:37 PM
Someone rip me a copy of this. I cant afford it for another week
10/27/2005 4:41:12 PM
i finished a 13hour game yesterday i knew i was never going to leave the house ever again
10/27/2005 6:46:06 PM
installing now...I probably wont see daylight until monday.
10/27/2005 6:54:13 PM
i want to play a multiplayer game.then we can all not see daylight until monday
10/27/2005 6:57:43 PM

10/27/2005 6:59:30 PM

10/27/2005 7:00:11 PM
yeah, I'm down for a multiplayer game sometime this weekend too.. maybe sat night.. lemme know
10/28/2005 12:02:45 AM
10/28/2005 12:05:27 AM
i'm down for sat. night. Who all is in?
10/28/2005 12:06:55 AM
The only reason I'm posting on this thread now is because I'm at work, and I can't play Civ IV at work... I should add that I barely made it to work having only gotten about three hours of sleep, but I am pleased to report that the Multiplayer works quite nicely. [Edited on October 28, 2005 at 11:54 AM. 10/28/2005 11:52:59 AM
i am yet to play a multiplayer game. yesterday i joined a game but i was replacing a player that had quit and i don't like doing that i like starting from scratch.
10/28/2005 5:59:55 PM
is it me, or does combat seem to feel very different? Maybe I just don't know what I'm doing fully, but I seem to lose almost always when attacking someone. Anyone know any good faqs online that give good advice on gameplay? I feel like when I play I just turtle up and race up the tech tree...
10/28/2005 6:37:47 PM
battle is much different but for the bestwhat you need to do is group your guys with different types of units. look and see who has better bonus fighting in each type of terrain. better defence etc and they all move together and attack together.
10/28/2005 6:41:54 PM
who's down for some multiplayer action tonight?
10/29/2005 8:29:08 PM
I finally played it. I'm liking it so far.
10/30/2005 11:01:57 AM
The maps dont seem learly as large as in Civ 3...i really dont like that
10/30/2005 1:40:56 PM
^yeah, thats my one complaint but everything else rocks.
10/30/2005 2:51:16 PM
wrong thread [Edited on October 30, 2005 at 2:55 PM. Reason : fda]
10/30/2005 2:55:35 PM
Damn I just got done after playing all day long and a good portion of last night. I fucking love it. Graphics, new concepts, everything. I will say like ya'll said that I have been playing an epic game on a "huge" Terra styled map and I was really disappointed to find that the one continent I am on apparently was all that the world was. I was expecting a bit larger world. That aside though, this thing is the heat. Definitely better than 3 and 2 in my opinion. I can't wait with the ease of modding to see what the community can come up with in the coming months.
10/30/2005 10:22:24 PM
hopefully bigger maps.although the one thing i like about the Terra is that you have 2 big cont. one where all players start and the other is the "new world" with lots of neat resources and stuff to conquer later on in the game.right now i'm in the middle of WWIII i've been trying to invade one country with a open borders treaty with the guy in between us then he canceled it on me and i couldn't replenish my troops in the war zone so i had to declare war on him too, and all his allies [Edited on October 30, 2005 at 10:25 PM. Reason : fda]
10/30/2005 10:24:22 PM
Yea the Malenese were some pansy ass little civ that was just south of me. I allied up with them to cover that side, but then they never expanded and I was constantly fighting one of my other neighbors because I wouldn't declare war on them.So I just loaded up the Redcoats, flattened those pussies, and then turned around and just finished wasting the fucking Aztecs that had been originally attacking me.
10/30/2005 10:33:20 PM
No more updates? I still haven't had a chance to buy the game yet.
11/4/2005 4:42:23 AM
We are too busy playing to post damnit.Actually I have kinda laid off playing for right now. I really need to upgrade my vid card, RAM, and mobo/proc to play this without it taking hours.
11/4/2005 6:37:06 AM
yeah... I need to practically upgrade my entire system if I want this game to run smoothly. I already upgraded my ram. Next I need to get a new video card, once I have the money to do that.
11/4/2005 8:50:55 AM
Spain always tries to fuck with me. "lets be friends" - ok"lets have an open border policy" - ok"lets trade" - ok"hey, come wipe out the greeks with us" -ok"give us your world map 2 techs and 1000 gold as a gift" -no"WE DECLARE WAR"I rarely focus on military buildup early in the game, I usually just expand to 5 or 6 cities, improve everything around them, dump everything into science and plow through the tech tree, so other civs that get aggressive early on usually fuck me up
11/4/2005 10:10:20 AM
What difficulty level do they actually start attacking you at?
11/4/2005 3:23:42 PM
anything above the very lowest.
11/4/2005 4:07:25 PM
Yea my first game I was focusing on doing like you were Ian. But when I started getting threatened, I said fuck this and built up some military backbone. The thing that really helped me was when I had a war declared, I'd stop tech production for a turn or two and upgrade all my units to the newest thing. That and if you haven't got much in military production, you can buy out whatever is under construction if you have the proper civic for it.After I did that I was pretty good to go, plus I was still ahead in tech development.
11/4/2005 11:48:26 PM
this game must have a STEEP learning curve. I checked it out to see what the hype was about , and I'm a fan of the usual RTS fare. This game has far more depth...it kinda makes me feel st00pid
11/5/2005 1:48:07 AM
as in , I have NO CLUE WHAT THE HELL IM doing, or why it takes endless amount of turns to do anything
11/5/2005 1:48:38 AM
