i just got a sony kd34xbr960 and my xbox games look awesome (Monster component cable)
9/14/2005 1:38:58 AM
let's try this againhe explicitly states that he did not perform any testing of the cables, and that it could be just the new HD pack that fixed it... in fact
9/14/2005 2:45:42 AM
You fucking dipshit, the "HD PACK" IS A CABLE.Have you ever taken one apart? Because I have, both the official one AND a knock-off pack. Inside it's a fucking shielded cable and NOTHING else. There are no electronics inside, no circuitboard, nothing (except for the optical audio out obviously). It goes from a pin on the rear xbox av connector out to the pins on the component. So yes, I am still right you fucking clueless shithead. You are absolutely 110% dead fucking wrong.
9/14/2005 2:05:17 PM
incognizant
9/14/2005 2:43:54 PM
OK, so, if he went out and replaced the cables, like you said, and it still hadn't worked because it wasn't the cables, but turned out to be the HD pack, you're saying that you'd still be "right" even though you were "wrong". That is why pretty much everyone in Tech Talk wishes you'd shut up, you realize-- the whole redefining everything in terms of you being right regardless of what stupid shit you spat out of your asshole to hear yourself type? You want everyone to make these assumptions that allow you to be right, when you being right isn't anyone's concern at all. They're trying to solve a problem, and your assumptions are generally unjustified, reaching, and dead wrong. If you'd just shut your fucking mouth unless you knew something, you wouldn't have to do so much damage control. Finally, I'd just like to say that a break-out box is not a cable, you short-bus motherfuck, so quit squirming like a 6-year-old trying to get out of a hold by Michael Jackson.

I said it was a cabling problem and to try better cable. You said there is no way in hell it could even possibly be a cabling problem. It was, in some capacity, a cabling problem. So how is it that you are right and I am wrong?
9/14/2005 3:32:21 PM
Time for tiberius to keep quiet.

I'd like for monkey to do the testing of old cables with official pack and old pack with new cables to see actually which made the difference. But it doesn't really matter either way seeing as he didn't even MENTION he was using a knockoff hd box until AFTER I suggested better cabling. And since he bought them together, mentioning that the cables might suck would draw a logical conclusion that maybe the HD box does too. If you buy a socket set, and instantly break one of the sockets, one will generally draw the conclusion that the rest of the set is probably shit too. I don't think that's backpedaling or faulty logical reasoning.I am DEFENDING my ORIGINAL statement's validity, NOT the current state of affairs and knowledge. The fact you can't distinguish between the two isn't my problem or concern. The man's shit works now and he is happy.

DirtyMonkey, was this:http://www.madcatzstore.com/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=1202&idCategory=what you were using?
9/14/2005 6:09:14 PM
^Considering thats the only component cable madcatz makes, I'd say that's probably it.Which, if it IS what he was using, would make me absolutely correct in my assessment again Thanks Stein!

^^^^what I intended to offer was a suggestion that Noen be ignored as if he were not here at alland when you consider that his suggestion (to replace cables) was, overinterpretation aside, completely fucking worthless... and that he's STILL... yes, STILL-- after the problem has been solved, and half-way down on the second page-- insisting that he was right... my advice might have been the best given in the thread.[Edited on September 15, 2005 at 4:40 AM. Did you even look at the madcatz thing?IT IS A CABLE.On further review, I think Noen is completely vindicated in this thread. Unfortunately for you, you just got unlucky with the thread in which you decided to jump down his throat. Lurk around a little more not giving any real help, and maybe you'll catch him in something legit.Otherwise, your incessant and often times misplaced rants and hate are getting to be more tiresome than Noen's pedantism.

Since it is so important to so many people that we get an answer on what was really the problem, I will try my best to remember to crawl behind the tv and do some extra unneccessary testing after work.Stein: No that is not the madcatz adapter I have. The one we have I actually looked for on the internet when I was first having the problem but could not find it on their website. It's probably discontinued for obvious reasons. I'll take a picture of it and if it doesn't look like too much trouble I'll take a peak inside as well.Oh, and in MY defense:Noen:

I took apart a HD pack not long ago (microsoft branded) to do some VGA SOG mods (half you clowns dont even know what that means, im sure noen does) and it had really poor shielding as he claims.

Nope, no clue And I love the use of pedantism in this thread Peacin em out.

So I went behind the TV this afternoon to do the cable comparison and found that the newest MS XBOX HD pack does not have connectors like the madcatz one does. I didn't know that before because my roomate switched the two initially. It is basically a cable that goes straight from the xbox to the component in jack on the tv. They don't have a picture of the latest on xbox.com but it is much different and has much higher guage cables than the madcatz (or they used some super thick rubber coating). However, MS has the audio cables bundled in there as well while the madcatz audio cables were separate. (the optical cable is still separate). Here is a picture of the madcatz pack that sucks.Sorry I couldn't do thorough testing, but it really doesn't matter anyway. If you ever get a chance to see the new version of the MS HD Pack you will see that it is mostly cable and a small splitter to the component and audio cables that may do some filtering or what not.I was going to take the madcatz thing apart, but it is not being cooperative and it's not mine to break. So again thanks to everyone who offered useful input. To the trolls: get yourself a woman.
