I don't care if he was democratically elected, he is still an asshole. As for Pat, he too is an asshole, even if he was never cruel enough to win public office. As far as I can tell, Chavez is far worse than Pat, because Pat only takes advantage of people voluntarily. Meanwhile, Chavez sends in the democratically elected secret police to disappear you.

Kidnapping Chavez didn't turn out so well during the attempted coup. The Venezuelan people rioted in the streets until he was released.
8/24/2005 8:13:59 PM
In all seriousness, Chavez probably should be killed.
8/25/2005 1:02:26 PM

^^ Whatever. He founded the Christian Coalition. Bottom line is that he still carries a lot of political weight with both the CC and the Republican party.^ Look at the huge swing to the far right that the republican party has taken in the past 2 elections. It's all to nurture, develop, and retain the conservative Christian voter base. Case in Point: Ronald Reagan passed some of the most liberal abortion laws in the history of the state of California during his time as governor. However, he suddenly decided to run a straight pro-life platform in his presidential campaigns...all because he'd lose the conservative Christian vote...which is highly influenced by the Christian Coalition. And because we don't all live in California. Reagan was over 20 years ago, and that is your evidence that the republican party has changed? Sounds to me like you are demonstrating how it has remained the same.
8/25/2005 3:17:41 PM
naw im just saying that the republican party has developed its platform to cater to the desires of the conservative Christian voter base. My whole point is that Robertson and the Christian Coalition carry a lot of political clout.
