Didn't get a chance to see your set, CTA... I only caught some of the very first band (kickass) and a little bit of Obsidian (very kickarse)... Hope everything went well... There's no doubt that you didn't have a good crowd there for ya though... There was a buhjeezusly insane amount of people there...
8/28/2005 10:24:50 AM
show was pretty good... but automag and obsidian would have been better off if they had had a separate show together. jonin didn't really fit either and their singer was kinda annoying. it just irritates me when bands from different genres get thrown together since metal kids and hardcore kids rarely get along when one is trying to dance and the others are just trying to push you down.on a side note, how did the guy who was getting a beat down behind the club make out after glass caskets set?
8/28/2005 2:27:51 PM
^ thanks for coming out^^ yea man there were a tonnn of ppl. it was fun. no problem taht you couldnt make it to see us because i was unable to see you guys as well
8/28/2005 2:31:55 PM

hahah thanks man. im glad ppl enjoyed it

I can not stand the mentality of those who think they are better than others, or are tougher than someone else, and then gang up one somebody in a back parking lot and stab them, and then brag about it.uncalled for.
8/28/2005 2:50:58 PM
me either. that justin kid thinks he is extremely tough (the short one with the tattoos) he changes his appearance and the bands he listens to all the time just to fit in. if i still had as bad of a temper as i did in HS and the low self control i had then id put him in his place hah.he does that crap all the time
8/28/2005 2:52:52 PM
the guy got stabbed?? wtf
8/28/2005 2:53:53 PM
i dono if he got stabbed. i know someone got a hammer(the justin kid i think) but it got taken away from him before he hit anyone
8/28/2005 2:55:19 PM
that's messed up. i took the scenic route around the dumpster to avoid walkin through them when i left.
8/28/2005 3:20:13 PM
haha i hear ya. i was inside waiting to get paid and making sure i had everything cleaned up hah
8/28/2005 3:20:49 PM
I don't want to use anyones names, this is just the information that was relayed to me.A suitemate of mine went to a girls house to hang out after the show. Soon there after the entourage of tough guys showed up at the girls house, with various injuries. One bragged about how he stabbed someone that night during the fight with a corkscrew type object and showed it to my friend. Needless to say, he got out of there.Lameness.
8/28/2005 4:15:32 PM
is justin the one who had on the madball hardcore NYC shirt?
8/28/2005 4:24:39 PM
yea. he used to be alright man. but once he really got into it hes done nothing but start fights all the time. he tried to use a beer bottle earlier in teh night, supposedly got a hammer later, and ive seen him try and use brass knuckles and start fights at other shows
8/28/2005 4:29:59 PM
One of you should shoot him from the stage.
8/28/2005 4:35:19 PM
hahahah good one
8/28/2005 4:36:36 PM
wow, so there is actually somebody who likes to have fun at shows down here? Maybe I should start going to these.
8/28/2005 5:58:10 PM
say what?and for the record ive had ppl come from NE, FL, all over the place to shows here, and have ppl from here go to shows other places and (altho i wouldnt say so over the past year or so) but for several years during HS until about my freshman year in college year NC was considered to be one of the best states around, esp on the eastcoast for punk/metal/hardcore showsits really died down the past year or two tho[Edited on August 28, 2005 at 6:07 PM. the independent had some funny thing about demin popped collars and Glass Casket.I think someone said something about this earlier.
8/28/2005 6:15:28 PM
haha yea way back in the day before they got big they dressed really nice when they played and got a lot of slack for it
8/28/2005 6:20:27 PM
NYC/NJ/DC/Upstate NY/Boston are the best places in the east for hardcore and punk. PA and Maryland are great too. If you really believe that NC is better than those, then wow.... you have issues. I have been here for 6 years now and NC has sucked in that regard. I have gone to shows with good bills down here and the turnout/crowd has been awful. No energy and just a bunch of homos (like I described before) trying to act all hard and backing off after one swipe to the face. I dont have any crew down here, I have gone looking for people to get in my face and take a swing and nobody even tries to. You want to see a show with a lot of energy? Go see Sworn Enemy/Full Blown Chaos/Irate together in NYC sometime. Tell me if you come back alive. I know there are plenty of times that I have gone home with black eyes and bloody noses and I loved every second of it because it is real. Hardcore has always been about venting frustrations and that includes beating the shit out of each other. But no one whines about it because it is EXPECTED. Not down here... nope, people are too afraid and too soft. I can't get an adrenaline rush at shows down here and believe me, the bands from the northeast don't either.
8/28/2005 6:36:48 PM
i never said what i think. im saying what ppl from those areas have said and what ppl from here have said who went up tehre to some shows in the last few years. and these are only select shows as well.i also know multiple "crews" like courage crew and other huge ones who came down to the Prayer for Cleansing reunion show in charlotte last year who said it was the most intense show theyve ever been to.but yes in general i understand the the NE is definitely the best for metal/hardcore showsand i completely disagree about the fighting thing. if the hardcore scene followed what any of the actual hardcore bands (not hte metal ones) stood for (unity, nondiscrimination, acceptance, etc) then it wouldnt happen. intense doesnt mean fighting. meatheaded morons means fighting.how come bands like terror, throwdown, madball etc have stopped shows sometimes to stop fights?-- if i want a fight i can start a fight anywhere. if i want an intense time i can go to a great hardcore or metal show. if someone hits me i might shove him away but im not gonna be a meathead and start a fight. you come to the show KNOWING its going to be intense KNOWING youre going to be hit, so because of that there should NOT be fights because its expected and shouldnt come as a surprise.[Edited on August 28, 2005 at 6:46 PM. NC doesnt even compare to the NE scene.but douches who fight are douches.especially the ones who only fight when their crew is present. pick a fight anywhere besides at a show and most of these jokers would get slaughtered.

ussjbroli - The weird mixture of bands on the bill was because of a couple of reasons. It was Derek from Obsidian's birthday. Derek, Sid from Glass Casket and I built that show. Sid really wanted to do a show with Automag because he is a fan of theirs. Derek likes Jonin, so he wanted them on the bill. It was an odd combination, but all the bands were good. I don't mind mixing up the genres a little, but that was a pretty big stretch. Oh well... it worked out.As far as I know, no one got stabbed. The whole thing was pretty stupid and appeared to escalate because it was at the very end of the show, so there ended up being a lot of people around. If that had happened at any other point during the night, it would have been squashed immediately. But, with 100 people around, it's hard to find out exactly what is happening. Yeah, a guy grabbed a hammer and appeared to have all intentions of using it. I took it from him, so now I have a new hammer - which works out well, because my hammer is always at the club. I've been needing to hang some pictures at the apartment.
8/28/2005 7:06:01 PM
haha Tom wins again
8/28/2005 7:14:29 PM
^^ yeah, all the bands played well i just felt bad for them since they didn't get the energy back from the crowd they would have gotten at a show with more of their own genre fans.and about justin, i thought he looked familiar and a friend of mine at the show with me was pretty certain that he used to be in a band called hearstring falacy here in fayetteville who used to hang out with a friend of mine named dustin who was the lead singer for another fayetteville band force fed. falacy was full of nothing but stupid punk ass tough guy wannabees and i guess he hasn't changed much. i'm all about a rough pit, but putting a bandana over your face and going in just to start a fight, etc. just ruins it for everyone.

I don't think it was Justin who had the hammer. It was some guy named Shawn. Either way, now I have a hammer.

haha yea.
