if your gonna buy a cheap DD, chances are... your not gonna buy new replacement stuff from a dealership unless you really have to. Besides, if you get a cheap honda and drive it around and still works, you could prolly sell it for the same price you bought it at.

personally, i just can't stand a boring vehicle. i would get absolutely no enjoyment out of driving a saturn, honda, etc. on a regular basis. driving would become a chore rather than a pleasure. of course a DD is supposed to be reliable, efficient, etc. but why not have something entertaining also if you can?
7/21/2005 12:22:07 PM
I know lots of ppl who have dsm's turbo's as DD's
7/21/2005 12:42:25 PM
i had this same problem of my daily driver not being exciting - i put a dvd player in it and watched episodes of simpsons on the way into rtp most days - sometimes i'd take 2 days to watch a movie

7/21/2005 12:45:02 PM
watching tv/movies when you're driving is a terrible idea

this type of thing is distracting me too:http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=335073&page=1[Edited on July 21, 2005 at 6:00 PM. Reason : fg]

^'93 SE. Only one those particular alloys were available on. And the leather on the SE's didn't hold up well, but some of them did have cloth.

7/21/2005 10:50:36 PM
i have a 96 saturn and i agree with everything noen has said.
7/21/2005 11:27:27 PM
Seriously, look for a early 90's Honda or toyota...
7/22/2005 12:54:35 AM
im currently in a 4cylinder automatic toyota camry xletheres no way im stepping down to a saturn over a honda
7/22/2005 7:28:03 AM
Noen, moonman, sarijoul...Drop it. His opinion isn't going to change and frankly who gives a shit. HE asked for opinions you gave it....he bashed it.... what the fuck ever. I like my Saturn, I think it is the best dd anyone could ask for, but optmusprimer is too Kool for one, so that's great, it's his money. Plus looking at a ton of these threads he's started (ie I was looking at these trucks tonight...) and such and so forth, he's probably not really looking anyway, he just wanted some attention....or not, don't really care one way or another. On a side note, you saturn guys, have you noticed how much ground clearance those things have? I'm from Asheville where my house is a mile up some switch-back trail and I have yet to bottom out, but I have bottomed out in anything else that I've attempted to get up there (including 2001 626, 2003 prelude, 98 escort, 2002 altima, 96 integra, 91 integra, 89 voyager, 89 Cutlass, 89 civic hatch, 93 marquis, and 89 mercedes of some sort) I jump the fucking thing off those cross walks on dan allen. anyway...goodluck finding your kool new "dd" project optmus.
7/22/2005 10:36:51 AM
^yeah, i think because of the ground clearance it feels like it "sways" when you are on the highway and the wind is blowing. My wife's escort feels alot more solid that way.btw... i agree with the saturn guys.. best bang for your buck for a DD. i spent 2500 on my 97 SL1 and I have put about 25K miles on it and havent had any problems so far besides having to replace the alternator (it has 150K miles).
7/22/2005 11:13:41 AM
hey if I get somethign for like 800 i can buy a boat too!!!1
7/24/2005 10:25:08 AM

7/24/2005 1:43:48 PM

7/24/2005 7:33:18 PM
lol, yeah.
7/24/2005 7:58:45 PM
^^good catch
7/24/2005 8:29:07 PM
7/24/2005 10:37:53 PM
^^^^ & ^^ um..ok? it wasn't mine. I wouldn't waste money on that shit. In fact none of those on that list ever were mine. when people come to visit...they make me drive it up, so they can blame any damage on me.The saturn is my first "car"I've had two 85' xjs a 75' cj a 89' F250
7/25/2005 1:44:51 PM
yeah, those 2003 preludes are pretty bad ass. rare too.
7/25/2005 2:05:35 PM
aw fuck..good call, I just called him..it was a 2001. Sorry, I know shit about hondas. Poor car ended up totaled in a ditch after a dog crossed his path. He said since his dad is an insurance adjuster, he was able to track where the car went after insurance got it. It actually ended up in Cuba.
7/25/2005 2:20:20 PM
Just go buy a cheap car. They're all going to look fucking ugly but if you're smart about it you'll easily be able to pick up something reliable and efficient. In factWhy make a thread about this? Are you so lazy that you can't go open the classifieds section of your newspaper and read?People here get their information off of google, why don't you do the same?
7/25/2005 3:29:01 PM
it really burns me up that i found a super clean 93 integra (fits the bill perfectly) and couldnt work it out. i am in a bind cause i am waiting for the toyota title to come back from DMV before i can sell it... maybe i can find another clean honda soon
7/26/2005 2:15:46 AM
was the acura sold already?
7/26/2005 11:52:30 AM
yep. it was a god damn deal at $1800 too, so im not surprised.
7/26/2005 4:51:04 PM
buy a motorcycle
7/26/2005 4:57:22 PM
i cant get any insurance except for liability, i doubt i can get (or afford) motorcycle insurance
7/26/2005 5:04:02 PM
i'm pretty sure it's easier to get insured on a bike (liability) than it is a car. cheaper too. you might kill yourself easier, but you're alot less likely to really tear anything/anyone else up too bad.
7/26/2005 5:42:36 PM
but then what would i drive in the winter
7/26/2005 5:49:16 PM
btttwhat would i have to do to convert a 93 accord automatic to a manualand would a d16 manual transmission work[Edited on August 1, 2005 at 8:03 PM. Reason : .]
8/1/2005 8:01:23 PM
oh wait, ill probably have to use a prelude si manual transmission to get better ratios than the regular accord right?
