I can't imagine that Nintendo thinks they're going to make a lot of money off providing access to every nintendo game made. It seems that the purpose of this is more of an incentive to get people to buy the console vs a 360 or ps3. I would imagine that they would have a subscription service for the games. What's the point in having access to every nintendo game ever made if you have to pay for each one you want, especially when you have a limited space to store it on. I would set it up where you could download a certain number of "games" at a time and just pay a monthly fee, $10 or so, to cover bandwitdh issues. Games in this system would not be the actual games, but be based on original nintendo games. 8-bit nintendo games would be worth 1 download, snes, 2 downloads, n64 3 downloads. So if you could have 10 "games" at one time, you could have 2 n64 games, 1 snes game and 2 8-bit nintendo games. Just an idea but, i would definitely do it, especially if nintendo is smart and dedicates a team of developers to rework multiplayer games for online play to support more than the normal 4 players.

A wifi version of mario kart would eat my life away.
5/17/2005 2:15:09 PM
^ totally.^^ Yeah, I'm kinda wonderin' about the whole "classis games" thing now. I initially assumed this would be "complimentary" but now I'm not so sure. I'm not down for paying big bucks for it
5/17/2005 2:16:31 PM
^^^Nintendo re-encoding old games for online play is wishful thinking, but I'd love to play eight player Super Mario Kart or online Tetris Attack.[Edited on May 17, 2005 at 2:18 PM. Reason : .]
5/17/2005 2:18:23 PM
coplimentary would be a smart move, but based on the company history i don't see it happening. a lot of money is going to be spent getting the roms of and making them compatible with the system, as well as setting up the dowload service. Like I said in my original post, I would not mind paying 10 bucks a month for access to everything nintendo ever made, but much more than that isn't going to be worth it, especially when a lot of people still have their old systems.
5/17/2005 2:19:52 PM
NES games are tiny. I wouldn't be surprised if they were comp.
5/17/2005 2:22:05 PM
5/17/2005 2:22:34 PM
Keep in mind how easy it is to download emulators and roms to your PC too.[Edited on May 17, 2005 at 2:23 PM. Reason : ]

maybe they'll have a usb->controller adapter for bongos and the like.I find it hard to believe there will be no wired controllers.
5/17/2005 2:24:31 PM
Game Boy MicroI hope they come up with something really unique and interesting for the Revolution.
5/17/2005 2:27:15 PM
^^ ESPECIALLY when you consider how Nintendo likes to make weird controller-like attachments. The Bongos need to have compatibility somehow, and I hope they do b/c they're too expensive not to convert. And I would think DDR pads would eat batteries up w/o an optional cord attachment. If anyone will retain the corded function, it'll be Nintendo.[Edited on May 17, 2005 at 2:28 PM. Reason : .]
5/17/2005 2:27:44 PM
though ive made a negative prediction for this console i will still buy it most likely. i waited and got a cube when they were cheap for mario party/tenis/kart and games of that nature.if no bongo compatibility i will also be very angry.
5/17/2005 2:29:22 PM
^^^ thanks for the pic
5/17/2005 2:30:23 PM
yeah, i really had no plans to buy a ps3was waffling lately on buying a 360 @ launchbut i'll def pick this thing up
5/17/2005 2:35:10 PM
^thats what nintendo is counting on.If you think about it, the PS3 and XBOX2 are going to be so similar in terms of who they are targeting and what they can do.Trying to not be the same as Sony and MS may not be such a stupid move.[Edited on May 17, 2005 at 2:41 PM. Reason : *]
5/17/2005 2:36:37 PM
Surprised you haven't added much to this thread, Lokken
5/17/2005 2:37:15 PM
^^^ Yep yep. And the upcoming "Mario Baseball" whether it's for GC or NR I will definitely get. Notice how every baseball game is the same? Sometimes (most times) I just want a game that's fuggin' silly. I promise you a Mario Baseball game would be insane fun. Reminds me somehow of RBI Baseball for NES w/ those little blob guys...loved it. i hear that...no plans for a PS3 (hate the PS2 controllers and weak-old graphics) and I *MAY* buy a 360 pending modchip status (like I have now: a modded Xbox that works without discs, heh)But the NR will be in my hands on launch day and I will throw a party (and 4 bongos better connect up...btw, I'm hearing "controller-to-USB" converters may hook them to the NR, so that'd be cool.) If any console retains optional wired format for their controllers, it'll be Nintendo, especially if their controller is as "gee-whiz" as they say, it'll suck massive juice to operate.[Edited on May 17, 2005 at 2:40 PM. ^^ heh I am at work so i havent been able to look at all the content that has been pouring out. I plan on checking it out tonight though.
5/17/2005 2:43:03 PM
All the mario sports games are insanely fun.Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, etc
5/17/2005 2:46:10 PM
dunno if this has already been addressed, but i read that they are getting rid of joysticks (thumbsticks, whatever) alltogether, and the new controllers for the revolution will be touch screens like the DS. And that you can even use a DS as a controller for the revolution

First thing I would do is download all the zelda games and play them all the way through. Then Metroidthen Mario.I can do that on a PC, but it just isn't the same
5/17/2005 2:53:33 PM
Holy god. The backlog of games in the first place was a major selling point already, but if they did do it for free, there is no stopping them. Karnov and Castlevania II Simons Quest here I come! (and a bizillion other games).
5/17/2005 2:53:57 PM
Haha playing 2 player Bubble Bobble or Rampage over the network would own.
5/17/2005 2:57:53 PM
they have to know so many 23-30 year olds are all drooling at the thought of playing (**insert classic game here**)of course, there would never be enough people to warrant pressing & packaging each gamebut, to rip off O Brother Where Art ThouWE'RE MASS COMMUNICATIN' NOWits gonna be like the matrixyou'll just have hundreds of games whizzing by you instead of assault rifles
5/17/2005 2:59:09 PM
If they do have them for free, they are gonna show Microsoft and Sony are gonna be shitting themselves. There is a reason Nintendo won the console wars of the early 90's, and after they have dropped this info, it looks as if they have a chance of doing it again.
5/17/2005 2:59:48 PM
Holy shit, if they had the "Game & Watch" games that'd be hott too. I LOVED Balloon Fight.
5/17/2005 3:00:44 PM
I'm still a bit iffy on this system. I just hope they could get good 3rd party support and there better be a Resident Evil game on this system.
5/17/2005 3:01:16 PM
5/17/2005 3:05:38 PM
Will Nintendo be able to have all of their games or just the ones they made themselves. I can see them having some problems getting 3rd party publishers games.
5/17/2005 3:06:47 PM
This might be my first current generation console purchase ever.

^ ROFL! Wow I think I'm gonna d/load an emulator & that ROM for some nostalgia. And I'm just now reading speculation that the DDR: Mario Mix is actually for GAMECUBE.That's cool with me though, get more use outta my GC! [Edited on May 17, 2005 at 3:21 PM. Reason : .]
5/17/2005 3:20:50 PM
Even if its for GC, you'll still be able to play it on the NR.
5/17/2005 3:23:06 PM
So Revolution is the final name of the console?i like that.
5/17/2005 3:25:33 PM
^ Yes and I wholeheartedly agree.

5/17/2005 5:33:56 PM
lol this is hilarious, we are all shitting ourselves over this new system and not even about the actual games coming out for Revolution just the fact that you can get all the old games we played years ago
5/17/2005 5:44:32 PM
5/17/2005 5:49:47 PM
all i had to hear was metroid 3 was a launch title.. there.. i'm excited about the revolution gameson a side note: has anyone heard anything new about the visuals? i've heard speculation that there's some sort of 3d effect that the graphics processors will produce that is like using 3d glasses. i don't really know how they'd do it without glasses or projectors.. but i do wanna hear more about it. are there any screenshots yet?[Edited on May 17, 2005 at 5:57 PM.
