New Royksopp CD
has really came out yet, streets 7/12

http://24.148.193.209/misc/Royksopp_-_The_Understanding.zip

1. Triumphant
2. Only This Moment
3. 49 Percent
4. Sombre Detune
5. Follow My Ruin
6. Beautiful Day Without You
7. What Else Is There?
8. Circuit Breaker
9. Alpha Male
10. Someone Like Me
11. Dead To The World

A good bit different from what I was expecting, some songs were defintive royksopp songs, but not all of them were ambient, some were a bit harder, some of them were break-ish, and some were almost UK garage.

I'd put more up, but the server is down untill I move.

I installed a new router for my parents and I don't want to have to set up port forwarding and disable it in a few days.

I'll start putting up stuff more regularly when I get settled.

You can browse the stuff I had before at:

My server is back up.

I went ahead and posted the brand new Infected Mushroom Single "Institute of Science"
http://71.68.29.59/goa/Infected_Mushroom_-_Institute_Of_Science.mp3

I also put up the new Deep Dish CD, "George Is On"
http://71.68.29.59/house/Deep_Dish_-_George_Is_On.zip
It's got the big hits (say hello and flashdance) and some other originals.

I've also got a track I produced up should anyone want to listen
http://71.68.29.59/Kojak_-_You_Feel_It.mp3

I'll try to update it fairly regularly, hopefully my ISP won't reassign me a different IP.

Ok I got some new music I can post

First off, the new Uniting Nations CD, that Ai No Corida song is kickin
http://24.148.193.209/house/Uniting Nations_-_One World.zip

Then I searched long and hard for some decent new trance, trust me it wasn't easy, trance is really in a slump right now. All I've got to say is Tiesto, G&D, Rank 1, BT, what the fuck, wake up and start making some good music. My record store of choice went from 4 full racks of new trance to a rack and a half. Luckily the new house went from 2 racks to 4 and a half racks.

In case anyone is in charlotte or will be anytime soon, Central Records just got a whole SHITLOAD of good used trance vinyl. $3.50 a pop, They had some really good shit there, so much that I had to leave a bunch of it . I just got Ascension - Someone (Slacker Mixes), BT - Flaming June, Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine, and a load of other stuff, 3.50 each. http://www.centralrecordsnc.com/

I just realized I put up the stuff with the wrong IP. Here it is corrected:

I've been really getting deeper and deeper into house recently, I think I'm actually going to make a whole other folder to some of my more chill stuff, mostly neo-soul/deep house/jazz funk kind of stuff, but I'll throw in some of the older but still chill stuff too.

I'm working on putting it together, I threw a few songs, and a few others need to be formated correctly.
http://71.68.29.59/chill/

Kind of a wide range of stuff from fairly chill deep house to nu-soul/funk to lounge to chillout and on and on, so you might have to dig a bit through to find ones that you really like, but I think they're all gems, so let me know if you like some of them and I'll try and put ones like those up.
but seriously, check all those out, they're killer

like that... you know... with that big BFWFFVVVVVVVVVT BWOOOP BFVVVVVVVVVVVT synth in there... stuff like that.

Is kind of like it. A lot of those are old, so you may already have them, I don't really have any new good trance, and unfortunately niether does anyone else on the planet right now

Oh and I generally call that sound a raw mono saw lead, it's the gritty minimoog kind of sound.

Quote :

Most of that is really slow and few have a "dance" kick. It's like jazz/funk/experimental kind of stuff

I don't really know what you mean by progressive, I mean when I hear it I think late 90's digweed and GU and such. Name some songs and I'll see if I can't hook you up.

^good deal, i downloaded all of those tracks -- on the first listen i like Lemon Jelly a little more, but they both seem like good stuff! I recently picked up a 3-disc compilation at the Virgin store at Union Square, but it feels a little sub-par. Its a lounge/groove compilation called "NewSoundTheory," but it seems lame compared to the UK "Sessions" double-disc sets that seem solid for tons of different genres. You know those?

Not really, I only really follow 3 different labels/releases, for lounge/deep house, it's all about OM records. They've put out consistently good records for years, and the best thing is they are constantly gaining popularity especially in this area. Kaskade came to charlotte a few months back, colette is coming on the 12th, and OM does a lot of touring in this area. Hed Kandi is another one of my favorite labels, they release several good chill releases, Nu Cool (funk/jazz/soul), Winter Chill (ambient/trip hop/ downtempo), Beach House (lounge/deep house). They also have several others. Then they'res the ministry of sound chillout sessions, I got #6, and I've gotten every other since then. It's an eclectic collection of lounge, trip hop, downtempo, chill indie rock, and pretty much everything else.

Yah, I like the ministry of sound series as well (I think you may have given me one a while back?)... Hed Kandi's got some great illustration on those current releases... in fact, the whole over-arching electronica genre has got some incredible cover design going on... good stuff. Thanks for those other names, I'll try to give them a listen.

What the hell happened to trance anyway? It's all turned into this twinkly mcprogressive nonsense. I find myself wondering where all the fun stuff went. I wander around the web trying to find stuff to like and it just isn't happening, argh.

But yeah, I don't know my way around this type of music anymore. it is like napster again just typing random words into searches and trying to see if anything good comes through. I need a friggin clue, how does one go and find decent techy music?

Trance is dead. What it used to be is no more. It still exists in scattered pockets and cheesey pop music. If you go into clubs now, you'll hear house. With trance dying house has exploded, mostly funky, deep, or tech house. I wouldn't even bother following trance, if you need some, go for the ones 5 years ago, but check out some house, it's some good shit going right now.

I used to do that, then I started following certain compilations, mostly Ultra and Ministry of Sound, now I get most of my music at the record store. I love it, spend a few hours there checking out all the new releases, it keeps you up with all the new stuff, local and imports.
