9/19/2005 11:57:48 PM
the boy and his horse was my favorite of the CON books
9/19/2005 11:58:20 PM
I have had the Space Trilogy for years, which is supposed to be excellent, but I have never gotten around to reading it.^I would have trouble picking a favorite. I like the Magician's Nephew, because it provides all the background and is first chronologically. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was also the heat. They sailed to the end of the world. Then of course, the Last Battle brought it all back together. A tough choice, indeed.[Edited on September 20, 2005 at 12:00 AM. Reason : ]

The Silver Chair and Last Battle were fucking awesomeI highly recommend the space trilogy though...it was good enough to where i have re-read it several times

Wouldn't mind if they spent another month or so on the CGI lion, or maybe get a real lion and just make minimal CGI tweaks here and there to get it to perform the way you want it to.[Edited on September 20, 2005 at 9:27 AM. Reason : r]

the reviews that came out from the screening said the CGI was amazing. So, apparently they did more work to clean things up.
9/20/2005 11:24:14 AM
Well that's encouraging.
9/20/2005 1:08:10 PM
I always take "the CGI was amazing" with a grain of salt. Why? Because they did in fact notice that it was CGI in the first place. Plus they are in full hype mode right now. You won't hear a "CGI was terrible" until after opening weekend.
9/20/2005 1:08:32 PM
It's still months away, and they haven't even released the full trailer yet. Full hype already?
9/20/2005 1:11:54 PM
Well not full hype. There will be a time when you can't watch tv for more than 5 minutes without seeing LW&W reference - I imagine that is the hype peak. And yes, if they have already shown the screener and allowed the people that watched it to make their reviews public - the hype machine has already started.
9/20/2005 1:33:58 PM
I dont remember liking the books all that much, altho I read all 4 of them (I think 4?), but the trailer gave me total chills!
9/20/2005 6:24:43 PM
So are they just starting out with the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe then? That was the first book written in the series but Lewis went back and wrote a prolouge which he intended to be read first. Maybe they'll incorporate that into this movie somehow.
9/20/2005 6:25:02 PM
^^There are seven, n00b!^Yeah, The Magician's Nephew is the first chronologically (in terms of the plot). I read them in that order, and I think that's by far the best way to go. For whatever reason, LWW is the most popular in the series, even though I think it's the least entertaining.
9/20/2005 6:48:54 PM
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! !! ! !! !
9/20/2005 7:01:42 PM
The best part of the teaser is when Peter pulls out the sword, and is like, "Bitch, please!"
9/20/2005 7:24:41 PM
bttt
10/15/2005 2:34:54 AM
I keep checking back periodically to see if they post the full trailer. No dice.

10/15/2005 6:35:42 PM
I'm resurrecting this thread because I just saw a commercial for it.I've gotta make an effort to read the book again before the movie comes out. I'm worried how faithful to the book it'll be.
11/16/2005 12:31:47 AM
Im going to see this movie that is all

^^It's Liam Neeson. I think it fits okay.
11/20/2005 12:07:40 PM
i realized who it was, but just from the look of the character, i was expecting a deeper voice
11/20/2005 1:28:35 PM

11/20/2005 2:11:06 PM

11/20/2005 2:16:43 PM

12/7/2005 11:53:21 AM
^^Thought it opened Friday?
12/7/2005 2:15:39 PM
I kinda agree with Money_Jones, but that's in no way gonna keep me from seeing it
12/7/2005 2:47:04 PM
i've never read the book, so i didnt really know what to expect. it was good though. i'm guessing fans of the book will enjoy it. it was kinda slow, especially at the beginning, and it felt really long, but it was still enjoyable. i dont get why santa was in it, but i guess i'd have to read the book to understand that one.
12/7/2005 3:16:46 PM
Santa? I don't remember that from the book. It's been years since I read them, though.
12/7/2005 3:48:33 PM
Yeah, Father Christmas comes. I read the books as a kid and then again over the summer. I love CS Lewis.I can't wait to see the movie.

12/7/2005 8:45:44 PM
I've got all three of those BBC Movies. I haven't seen them in forever, but suffice it to say that the budget is nowhere near up to par. The BBC one is longer, though at 171 minutes compared to 140 for the new one. Not sure what cuts that might correlate to.
12/7/2005 10:22:43 PM
^^^^ thats not random! in the book father christmas comes and thats how they know the witch is losing her power and control bc under her rule it was always winter but never christmas
12/8/2005 11:11:32 PM
The movie only covered "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe", correct? I've finished the first two books and I'm still worried that they'll throw something from some of the latter books in the movie.
12/8/2005 11:38:28 PM
Yeah, it's just TLTW&TWI definitely need to get my rear in gear and read the books again. And XCchik, we definitely watched a few of them back in school. Of course nowadays, that probably wouldn't fly.I was reading a movie review (in the Village Voice, no less) for this, and the reviewer actually opined that they thought CS Lewis was a better storyteller than Tolkien. Which I found rather fascinating. I thought of Tolkien as being the better storyteller. But Lewis' most important works, IMCO, were his aforementioned theological works.
12/9/2005 12:40:08 AM
Man I knew there were LOTR nerds, but LWW nerds???!?!??!?!? Wow there is a new level of nerdom.
