page 2 says the Yankees don't deserve another title

It's not that hardI probably watched 80% of all the Yankee games from like '90 to '95 without even trying. They were all on TV (I lived in New Jersey at the time) and the only ones I missed were because I was in school.

Seriously man, you have no idea. Living in New York/New Jersey it would be really easy to watch than many games.Down here, not so much. But the media coverage of the Yankees on their affiliate channels up north used to be insane.
4/6/2005 5:41:17 PM
I used to watch the Braves religiously when TBS used to carry 125+ games and the rest were on Sports South or ESPN or NBC/FOX (NBC before Fox bought the rights). Anyway there were occasionally games I'd miss because of something. I agree that his statement was bullshitHere is a gay picture of A-Rod too

yea people really dont understand what baseball is like in the Northeast. It IS life to millions of people. I mean people literally live and die with the Yanks, Mets, and Sox. It is sooo much more then a game..I either saw every Mets and Sox game live or watched the MLB.tv archive of most of the game last year....[Edited on April 6, 2005 at 6:30 PM. Reason : sf]

^ I'm assuming he's talking about Rivera. That is a pretty strong statement considering how dominant he was last year. Yeah he has sucked against the Red Sox the last five or so times he's faced them (including last season's ALCS), but otherwise he is still great. The only closers I might take over him if I was a manager are Gagne and possibly Lidge. Rivera is badass...
4/7/2005 9:35:06 AM
Lupica's trying to sell newspapers. Rivera generally starts off slowly. That's just the way it is since he doesn't like to pitch much in Spring Training. Chances are this would have happened against anyone, but because it was Boston, it gets a lot of attention. Sure it's tougher against Boston. That's what happens when you play each other 26 times a year. All are generally close games, so Rivera's going to get a lot of time.I mean, sure he's getting older, and he may be passed his prime. But come on, he's still gonna save 40-45 games this year.

funny how when the Yanks are on the losing end of a series the fans seem to disappear, isn't it?Fairweather fans? You're damn right
4/10/2005 5:05:10 PM
Hell yeah, now we're talking GO Yanks!
4/10/2005 5:47:42 PM
They just lost a series.hahaha

when the yanks start losing fans fall off the mapwhere were Yankees fan's in the late-80's/early-90's? Oh yeah, they were buying tickets to Shea.
4/11/2005 1:29:00 AM
Like that's overly different from every other team. All teams have fans like that.
4/11/2005 8:34:15 AM
^^ it's not like they werent there. I mean they weren't drawing like less then a million a year or anything.Bad attendance years in NY (outside of the shitty 70's where the Mets drew like 800,000 one year) are still better then 75% of the teams in MLB..** Let me clear this up too. I still abhor everything about the Yankee organization and wouldn't be the slightest bit upset if SARS was implanted into their locker room. Phew, had to get that out..[Edited on April 11, 2005 at 8:38 AM. Reason : grammah]

I'd like to thank my Boston Red Sox fan of a roommate, for putting the game up on TV tonight via his computer, so I could watch the Yankees lay the smack down on the Sox
4/14/2005 2:25:24 AM
Man I wish I could have watched it. Oh well. Stuff to do, I guess. There will be other opportunities. Like Sept. 9, when I'll be at the Stadium. Score.
4/14/2005 9:25:00 AM
OH man....for some reason I can watch this game on TV even though it's only on YES and I haven't purchased any MLB packages. SO score.8-0 Yanks over D-Rays in the bottom of the 2nd. Seven straight hits for the Bombers so far I believe. A-Rod is 2-for-2 with 4 RBIs in the 2nd inning alone on a 2-run homer and a bases loaded double. Yanks have more than batted around in the inning.
4/18/2005 7:51:22 PM
Man 10 hits in the inning...bases loaded merry-go-round continues.Tino up with the bases loaded and one out. 9-0 Yanks...every player has a hit in this inning.Edit: Whoa...Tino hits a grand slam. Man...the standing O this guy is getting right now...incredible. 13-0 Yanks.[Edited on April 18, 2005 at 7:55 PM. Reason : ]

oh boy...A-Rod's second two-run homer of the night gives the Yanks a 15-2 lead in the bottom of the third.A-Rod is 3-for-3 with two two-run homers and a bases loaded double giving him 6 RBIs in the third inning.
4/18/2005 8:18:56 PM
what every slumping team needs a series with the devil rays minor league baseball team
4/18/2005 8:30:56 PM
haha...I was thinking that all day todayBut ya know...Jaret Wright is looking thoroughly unimpressive. He's had a whole lot of three-ball counts, a few walks and he just doesn't look that good. I'm hoping that's just early season rust that will shake off eventually, but he's just not very impressive.Edit: And Wright continues to look horrible giving up a three-run homer to Aubrey Huff to make it 15-6 Yanks. Geez. [Edited on April 18, 2005 at 8:43 PM. Reason : ]

the yanks overpaid for wright, he had one good year in the national league behind a solid hitting club, when he was with the indians he was just a hurler nothing special
4/18/2005 8:53:37 PM
Oh yeah I agree. I would have much prefered hanging onto Jon Lieber. Ended up paying for Wright what the Phillies paid for Lieber. At least Lieber was reliable and pitched well in NY after the all-star break last year.
4/18/2005 9:07:13 PM

4/19/2005 3:45:23 AM
That's actually false. I just have a full-time newspaper job that makes it very difficult to be on here all day everyday. Sometimes I actually have to write stuff. And then I'm usually gone all weekend. If you really want me to find a way to post the next time they lose a game, I mean, I guess I can work that out.The only reason I even bttted the thread last night is cuz I was excited to be able to watch the game. I mean I really don't plan on posting in this thread during all the games...that'd be ridiculous.

steiny is going to rip the yanks again
4/19/2005 10:11:42 PM
Well it didn't work. I guess Charter caught on that I didn't order it. Oh well.I mean I hate seeing them lose, but it's still early. It's all good.If it's still going like this in a month, then I'll worry.
4/19/2005 11:30:22 PM
Are you guys worried about RJ's velocity? I know its early still but you would think he would have his velocity up by this part of April. He is consistently only reaching 93-94. This is really hurting him. The Ray's guy last night w/ 2 HRs even said it was like a whole different pitcher out there when he doesn't reach the mid-high 90's...
4/20/2005 8:50:40 AM
Well, I mean sure that's not good. But all you hear from the baseball talking heads is that it takes a while for power pitchers to get up to speed. I don't really know how much work he got in spring training, I mean I know he missed a start or two because of a minor injury, so maybe that's having an effect. Who knows though? The guy is over 40. That could be it too.I mean if in another month, after he's had another handful of starts, if the velocity still isn't there, then this could be a long season.
4/20/2005 9:14:45 AM
Smoltz is already hittin 96 to 97 mph fastballs, but guys like Willis are still strugglin to get them above 93. I wouldn't worry about it, he'll come around.they say his best pitch is his slider anyway[Edited on April 20, 2005 at 10:44 AM. Reason : asdf]
4/20/2005 10:43:51 AM
Yeah totally...I mean like I said, if he's still struggling in a couple weeks, then I'm gonna worry. But 14 games in to the season after, what, three starts? I'll hold off on the panic attack.
4/20/2005 10:58:37 AM
Yeah, I'm not "too" worried about the Big Unit yet, but its definitely not good. And as far as everyone saying yesterday that the Yankees "got the message" from Georgie Porgie, I had a feeling it was crap. Then they went back to their old ways, stranding everyone on the bases
4/20/2005 12:29:09 PM
